This is a legitimate service AFAIK. Basically, instead of linking to a scam site, you link it through this website:
Link without pagerank - donotlink.com
Search engine will not be able to crawl through the link to the destination, and thus, linking to that website this way does NOT give them any backlinks or "link juice", and thus will NOT improve their search engine ranking in any way.
Kschang, if you would be so kind as to provide an example of how this works. I put in a URL and it created an alternative URL which I copied in to my browser which did not take me to the site, but two unrelated. Then I tried Link without pagerank - donotlink.com the site as suggested and got an error.
Other sites such as Hidemyass you enter in the web site right from their page and go directly there.
Or is the purpose not to surf but to just enter in the link to break future surf results?

Seems to work for me.
It works very well for adlandpro.com which is great because the promoters there have pushed alot of RS comments from the top of the ratings.
