EagleOne said the week I joined that this program would be lucky to last another week. He predicted correctly.

Now I need to help expose these other scams. I don't want other people to end up like my poor upline member, who STILL innocently hops on any major HYIP bandwagon. First profitclicking, and now this. He has a young daughter, how can he put her at risk like that selfishly.

Most of all, where the !$#@ is the federal SEC? It seems to me the states by themselves have little power. Impossible to answer thanks kindly for any advice or opinions!

Let me address the SEC first. For the SEC to even begin an investigation they have to have complaints. When people are told on the Ponzi forums to contact the authorities (SEC), you would think they would be getting the Bubonic Plague if they did. They would rather lose it all than report it to the authorities. They are blaming the government for PS going down, not Roman for God's sake.

Just because action has not been taken by the feds does not mean that action won't. There is no doubt in my mind Roman was the one who had the website shut down. He was afraid the feds were next and he needed time to get out of Dodge before they came calling. It also bought him time (at least 48 hours) before anyone would actually file a complaint, which gives him more time to run and hide.

The state AG's and state securities regulators talk to each other and that's why so many were issuing their alerts and cease and desist orders. You can almost bet those states that issued the cease and desist orders did have complaints from their citizens against PS. The others only could issue their alert. Not iron clad this happened, but I believe it is why some did and some didn't. They can issue an alert just on the fact PS was not licensed and registered to sell securities. No investigation needed.

But there are many Ponzi's that are never shut down by the feds, even though they should be. It is called manpower, time, case load, no budget for over 4 years, and a shortage of personnel to deal with all the cyber-crime, let alone all the offline crime they have to deal with daily. All you have to do is look at JBP/ProfitClicking and BannersBroker to see how big Ponzi's are not touched. It doesn't mean that they weren't reported, they just don't have the manpower to go after them due to other higher priorities of cases they are working on. Get a budget passed and things might be different.

Yes, there is no way to run an illegal scheme legally. And no, I don't pretend that there is any way to keep the pimps from hooking virgins. I was trying to explain to the pimps and wanabe pimps why they can't do what they do without creating victims. If each and every person who invested with PS or Zeek or any of the others had to sign a document that said that the program they are joining is illegal in the US and somewhere between 80 to 90% of the people who invest will in fact lose their money it would still not make PS or Zeek legal but it would go a decent way toward warning the people who don't know how the games are played. We can not rely on the pimps and ref whores to communicate this information so we do it for them. All in all the post I made over there was to appeal to the people who have yet to embrace their inner pimp and would like to think of themselves as anything other than low level criminals.

There are no winners without losers in these games. You know that as well as I do. Honesty is a good thing, especially in situations where lying is so profitable.

I've been telling people all HYIPs are ponzies for almost ten years now. I've been telling them they were ponzies when I was gambling in them myself. I haven't seen one person whom it stopped from participating.

You haven't seen everything. There have been sites saying they are ponzies, that the admin will take a certain fee and that when the money runs out, the site will be shutdown. Ask around, some people might have a better memory than mine and give you the names.

Too little too late in many cases but we take a long term view, the more future non victims we help create means another better informed consumer. I can remember one admin, jack cobb was supposedly on deaths door so many many times in his different scams. St Nick from the P2P scam was supposedly adopting a child from the Philippines and then fell into a coma. He is now hiding out in a coconut tree from a fugitive warrant for his arrest. These type of people are out and out lairs, plain and simple. Others on here can give a lot more examples of this.

In Fact I saw a lot of those, most gone by now, But let's remember 1997 Stock Generation which has a nice wikipedia entry,
or something recently i saw a year ago called something BitCoins Pyramid, there were also a lot of cyclers and gifting schemes openly explaining what it is, also those kind of open ponzis were recently very popular in Russia (MMM-2011 and MMM-2012 and GoldLine)
where it openly says "you are participating in financial pyramid, nobody owes you anything even if you do all according to the rules".
Never-less attracted millions of participants there.

They are not my concern since it just makes them illegal gambling of sort, but if you want to keep track on those lets open a thread for it.
