Positive thinking and due diligence
Consider the battery:
To work, it needs an equal balance of both positive and a negative.
Positive + Negative = power
Positive without negative = powerless
Positive + negative in unequal proportions = a lump of metal
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing

Re: Positive thinking and due diligence
It is hard to believe how the crap doctrine named "The Law of Attraction" flooded the Internet a few years ago. This ridiculous premise that positive mental attitude would conquer all negativity was pimped ad nauseum as a new message from prophets of the ancient past which had been recently resurrected as "The Secret." The Law of Attraction" was believed by some unfortunate suckers , to be physics or one of "Newton's laws. It was nothing but BS
Does anybody remember the BS or the main perpetrators?

Re: Positive thinking and due diligence
Three of the biggest promoting The Secret, other than the author Rhonda Byrne, were James Ray, Michael Beckwith, and Bob Proctor. Oprah had Rhonda Byrne, James Ray and Michael Beckwith on her show numerous time and was a big supporter of the theory.
There was an Australian who also was a big promoter of it and spouted it in his fake investment program. His name escapes me but I think his first name was David, but not sure of his last name. It was something like Wimmer, but don't think that was it. Been too long ago to remember them. Whoever he was I believe was indicted, but not sure what happened at his trial.

Defying gravity
Rhonda sought solace in some self-help books. It was there that she stumbled on what she now calls “the most powerful law in the universe”, which funnily enough isn’t the law of gravity but “the law of attraction”.
Rhonda quickly realised that no one ever went broke by promising people that they can do, have and become anything they want in life without exerting any real effort.
So, using every ounce of mind over matter, she married her new-found self-help skills with her television expertise and created the movie The Secret, which was then followed by a book, and a CD of the same name.

More like she found solace in the Gelt she ripped off from others....

Re: Positive thinking and due diligence
As is usually the case, though, it didn't stop with the book and movie. Several "gurus" popped up proclaiming that you needed their training to properly utilize the "secret". Very similar to "good" Christians saying you can't properly find the deity unless you join (and contribute to ) their church!
It seems like in this "industry" common sense is not all that common!

I can't believe that he was investigated by the ASIC and he wasn't charged; or by any law enforcement agency. He was running nothing but a con and stole people blind and even stiffed them when he was ordered to pay, if my memory is correct.

Wait, one...with all the sexual abuse stories that popped up in the Catholic Church, His Eminence's gonads may not be all that useless...!

Funny you should mention that as Australia's top Catholic, Cardinal George Pell who fled to the Vatican last year and refuses to return to Australia on (fake) medical grounds is due to give evidence via video link to the Royal Commission into child sex abuse on Monday.....
It will be streamed live on the net as are all Royal Commission hearings....

Conveniently impossible to prove don't you think? For instance lots of people go to the hospital and say "I will beat cancer", a few do. Those that die simply didn't will it properly. Substitute rich, love, or happy and the same tailor made blow off fits like a golve.

Re: Positive thinking and due diligence
Was doing some research into another matter when I found out that David Schirmer, of the Secret Fame, and from stealing millions from victims claiming to be this great investment guru, died suddenly in October of 2020. They streamed his funeral on FB as COVID restrictions prevented a large number of people attending the funeral.
Since he believed in the law of attraction one has to assume that he allowed negativity to enter his life and cut it short. Guess he just didn't believe enough in positive thinking. Since you attract what you think, he has no-one to blame but himself for his death.
