That's the kind of stuff I like to follow, one of my favorite shows CNBC - Watch Full Episodes | CNBC | American Greed. Although, the underlying stories and endings are predictable.
At least prime bank, black money, or even the Dinar are somewhat creative, and who doesn't love a secret society? Toss in a bit of role play and I could see were some people might get roped in.
Still raising millions from a few thousand people certainly explains why people do it.
Troy and Kristi were lightweights and offered none of that: slap up a website, make promises, praise Jesus, abscond. While seeing the SEC move in is somewhat satisfying, reading the posts of some participants just leads to more head shaking.

Re: The Achieve Community - huge ponzi scam
ribshaw, you haven't seen nothing yet. Just wait and the conspiracy theories, "evil" government, "haters" caused this to happen (yes I know it defies logic, but then so does their being members of Achieve), Troy and Kristi are being railroaded into pleading guilty, the government will keep all the money because they need it, the receiver will eat up all the money that was frozen so the members won't get a penny, and the list goes on and on but you get the picture. Happens in every Ponzi.

For months the Achievers have been claiming Barnes and Johnson had paid out over $3 million to members, so Achieve couldn't be a scam.
As is usual with HYIP ponzi frauds, the truth is a lot different:

Long time observers of the HYIP ponzi scene have been saying for years, the formation of the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force signaled a change in the way the US government approached these things.

Which is quite interesting in itself since TAC did not launch until around mid-July 2014 or the latter part of July. At least according to the thread at MMG. I think this may have been a typo because of this fact. It will be interesting to see if that date gets changed going forward.

I don't frequent that site (that's why we have you. lol) so I had no idea. If it is suppose to be 2015, they went through the data pretty damn fast.

More like "silly"
What. did she think the SEC wouldn't know or that by doing so she wouldn't make herself look more guilty ??

Re: The Achieve Community - huge ponzi scam
who knows. you just get questioned by someone who knows a thing or two about what it is you are doing, yet you pull that stunt.
I will say it certainly makes the defenders quite silly claiming to have been paid when we knew they weren't being paid and these docs confirm it.

Re: The Achieve Community - huge ponzi scam
The only hope for Johnson not to end up in jail is if for some miracle $25k she deposited to ScottTrade, were invested in kick–ass stocks which are worth millions now :)
And she can claim that was her super-duper money multiplying formula.
Other thing surprises me in 1996 she had SEC series 7 Broker license, she knew exactly how bad it will end for her, maybe launching a ponzi was an act of disperation or some personal problem. (reminds of Breaking Bad TV series)

Re: The Achieve Community - huge ponzi scam
It will certainly be interesting to see if criminal charges and jail time come after the SEC civil complaint is dealt with.
Barnes and Johnson better get down on their knees every night and pray all they get is civil fines and disgorgement and no criminal charges follow.

It was the first time that US and Europe decided to work together to fight cross border white collar crimes. I think of it as the start of "Online Scammers Armageddon."
I posted the following on my blog and a page on cons and fraud on one of my which I hope to publish in the next week or two. I would be very grateful to hear fron anybody who can add some endorsement to the comments.
QUOTE
It is hard to put a date on the time when the course of the war to deal with Internet Crime took a turn for the better but I consider April 2008 to be a very significant date in Internet history.
The G20 World Leaders met in London on April 2008, to discuss policy on the shadow banking industry. It was the beginning of a period of history, which I describe as “Online Scammer’s Armageddon.” The first fruit of this liaison was the establishment of a multinational financial fraud enforcement task force, StopFraud.gov. This gave people the opportunity to report financial frauds from countries other than their own. It was also a turning point in the life of ponzi promoting advertising boards.

Only if the disclaimer said something along the lines of:
"Hi, I'm Rodney Blackburn.
Before you go any further, you need to understand I am probably the worst judge of long lasting ponzis on the planet and anything I recommend is going to fail before you even get back your initial spend"
