What a learning experience this has been
I'll never forget being invited to Cliff & Eleanor Maiers the first time. I told a couple close friends and the paperboy I was going to the Moonies. I was joking, but out of the mouths of babes.... I couldn't have imagined seeing a day when a former top-level Moonie named Steve Hassan would emerge as a renowned cult expert and state flat-out, Amway is a cult. A destructive one at that. And the Maiers were distributors of Amway and didn't tell us one bit!
As a younger person I just wanted to read the Bible before I was a certain age, and stay out of trouble to boot. Yes, I had a real uneasy stomach once at the Maiers. But at the time it seemed like problems I went through were exactly remedied by the bible study themes. To the point I now entertain the notion The Maiers, Santti, a couple punks named Troy and Curt, weren't inclined to care about the bible, rather the Kubler Ross grief cycle.
When we experience grief, loss, separation and other hardships, we can go through stages of The Kubler ross Grief cycle (denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance). What these people and cults do, is find people who are at the acceptance stage, and hustle them up to the bargaining stage. And are they ready to bargain! To be clear, their version of the Bargaining stage involves your stuff ending up with them. Whether it's money, help, your reputation, exploitation of your friends.
When that doesn't work, that is, if you go telling people you don't think that's very Christian of them, the strangest problems emerge, out of the blue.
I took a lot of **** from these people, and i can't tell you how many times i'd hear people near them who didn't go along with the Amway, or Time for Change or any of the scam-of-the-week - i can't ell you how many times I'd hear people telling me they were considering suicide. The pressure placed on these marks from many angles using shills in churches cannot be overstated. These people are evil and we ain't seen nothing yet.
To everyone who is participating in this thread, topic. THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart and many, many innocent people who were betrayed by people claiming to be "Promise Keepers" or been "Baptized in the Holy Spirit". I suppose, if the Good Book says blasphemy of the Holy Spirit isn't forgivable in this world or the next, then who am I to even think of forgiving them?

I'm sensing another MAPs or just straight out Ponzi here...Quite frankly I'm not sure what it is, but feel it warranted this category.

Don't for one second think they wouldn't give anything to be able to use PayPal,
but they can't:

There's many a HYIP ponzi which has been bought to a grinding halt after the organizers conned their way into having a PayPal account, only to have PayPal shut the account and confiscate the money when the con was discovered.
It's always funny when you see a newly launched HYIP ponzi fraud which has managed to (temporarily) evade the terms of the PayPal User Agreement and see all the HYIP ponzi pimps on the "usual suspect" HYIP ponzi forums telling the newbies:
"See, we have a PayPal account, so we must be legit"
When, in reality, they should be saying:
"We have a PayPal account - don't join because PayPal is going to close our accounts and confiscate your money"
