It was about £700 so not huge - but enough to get annoyed about!

I sent an email as requested by BB but have (unsurprisingly) not received a reply as yet. I am going to send another today giving them 7 days notice to repay me or I will be issuing proceedings.

I don't think this is just a slowing down mechanism: When a Ponzi shuts down, what's left? (apart from millions of dollars). The data and IDs are worth loads for identity thieves. I'd be more worried about that than the few hundred dollars people may have invested!

So I just found out that my mum is in this ridiculous con and all of her money is tied up in panels, apart from about $50 that I'm trying to get out through STP - wish me luck!

So what's the best process to *try* to get her investment out. Complain to the bank?

Not just trying to help people not be conned.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - I'd still have my account (maybe) if I hadn't started posting on Scam.com with my views that it's a scam.

    Jason
Mine is the exact same situation - instead of trying to put my fears to rest (as if they could) they lock the account with no recourse. A little bit of communication could have prevented a whole lot of what is now going on. I am more than happy to go on the few forums that I do and bash BB because they treated me like crap.

I sent that email - I got a canned message back:

See Index of / for a website registered by an aforementioned pimp of Banners Broker.

    See anything suspect there?

There was a thread a while ago about India saying that BB members had to state that the money was from a 'family friend' to be able to make a withdrawal. They were not allowed to say it was from Banners Broker as they would not be allowed to collect the money.

Small claims court stuff. Hope that makes them sit up and notice. It's not a difficult process for you to undertake (sorry if I'm teaching granny to suck eggs here). Now if all the people who have had accounts locked do the same thing ;)

wrigleyb - ha! Luckily, my userid whostolemyid only refers to the fact that, a few years back I tried to sign up on a Forum using my standard ID, only to find it was already taken, so opted for this handle. That was in the early 1990's, long before ID theft became widespread.
I agree, though. These ID details will be sold on many times to other 'businesses', particularly as a high proportion will be rich and gullible.... albeit less rich than they were!

I like how they've updated their Canadian address on the website since the photo was leaked. And how they deny Nelson Street was ever the correct address. And then they expect members to send a refund request by SNAIL MAIL to this allegedly fake address.

    Seems legit.

My blog has been swallowing all kinds of BB traffic in the last week. There's one guy in the comments (Mr. Undisclosed) who claims to be making $1Million from the program. Anybody want to chime in with his taxation requirements?!

"We now have a full time person who is looking after the PrePaid card – if you have not applied for your card, please do so. Payza has been phased out and STP will be phased out (for withdrawals) and the card is going to be the main method for withdrawals (for countries that can accept the card)."

Hi Beethoven. Sorry for my ignorance but what is MMG? Where did you see this message posted? Thanks

I found the following website on Vector Services (the card provider for BB). Frankly I have no idea what these figures mean, but someone on here may well do.

Believe me, there's nothing a HYIP ponzi operator would value more than being able to obtain a Paypal account to give his scam credibility.

Fortunately, on the rare occasion a HYIP ponzi does manage to sidestep Paypals' security policies, it's normally only a matter of an email or two pointing out the fact, and Paypal will withdraw it's services immediately, if not sooner.

HYIP ponzi operators have no choice in the matter when it comes to using "dodgy payment processors"

Without their (the payment processors') "nudge, nudge, wink, wink" co-operation HYIP ponzis as we know them would not exist

I know Smith is quite a popular name - but do you think it's a coincidence that the owner of R&B Auto Service (at same address as BB) is called Brandon Smith? This isn't 100% - but it's not easy finding accurate information from a country you don't live in!

I'm trying to do some digging on directors of R&B Auto Service/Afordable [sic] Automotive Ltd - It's proving not too easy.

Well don't you worry your pretty little head about not being able to see or access BB. I am sure there are hundreds of good reasons for it not appearing at the moment, like the ones that have already been posted on this site *written in Sarcasm font*

That's a common misconception when it comes to HYIP ponzis.

Other than the HYIPs closed by official means, along the lines of what happened to Zeek Rewards and AdSurf Daily, there is actually nothing left by the time a HYIP limps to closure.

It's the main reason the U.S. authorities use the civil route first when dealing with large HYIP ponzi frauds.

It enables them to stop the ponzi in it's tracks and freeze any remaining monies.

By their very nature, the money remaining for distribution in a HYIP ponzi after the rate of new signups slows or reverses decreases at an alarming rate.

Remember, HYIP ponzis have little or no outside income sources.

If someone "at the top" takes out a relatively small $10,000, it would take 100 new members depositing $100 just to cover the withdrawal.

With some of the payout figures being quoted by Banners Broker insiders, it doesn't take a genius to work out the Banners Broker coffers can be bled dry in only a matter of days if new signups decrease at the same time as the big players start pulling out their "earnings"

That's how HYIP ponzis work, as many of the Banners Broker "true believers" are about to discover to their cost.

Phil Hendy, you seem to be quite slating about we RealScam members over at TalkGold.

Do you not believe we're helping the general populus by trying to get them to NOT investing their money in the first place?
