In 2013 I met a girl at Beijing club called "Mix". Her name was Julie and she was from Europe. I thought I was going to get lucky but instead I got an earful when she turned around and I saw the tears and make-up rolling down her face. I figured she just broke up with her BF. It turns out she just got of jail after her sister had to fly to Beijing to pay a fine because she said the cops in Beijing don't accept credit cards. I was afraid to ask because maybe she was caught hooking like so many Russian "ladies" in China. I was shocked with the answer she gave me and at first did not believe her - until she showed me the police paperwork and "Deportation Order" she showed me.

She said she came to China after paying a company called GetIn2China over $3,000 for an "internship" that would get her a great-paying job here with an international company (I'm not sure but I think I recall that it was Samsung) but when she got here she found out it was some small Chinese company that did the marketing for the big company where she thought she would be working - not the big company itself. Anyway, they gave her an invitation letter to get her visa saying she was coming to be an English spokesperson to make TV commercials for some non-profit foundation in China, and she was told to never mention anything about her internship at all. She said this "little white lie" was needed to get into China because as it was explained to her by the Getin2China people... "There is a quota of how many interns can come into China and they were already over the quota". It sounds logical so she believed it.

Some PSB visa cop stopped her in the subway (probably to flirt with her) and asked her for her passport in a random check. Then the female partner cop started grilling her and she somehow tripped up and got caught in a lie. They took her to the cop shop and she panicked and told the truth. They said they would let her go if she told the truth. They lied. She spent the next 19 days in a Chinese jail. Imagine spending $6,000 to come work in China and you end up spending 19 of 27 days in a Chinese jail! Yesterday, I saw another foreigner being hustled away by the visa cops in the lobby of my office building and the security guard said it was "an illegal intern" So when I got home I wanted to see if that guy had anything to do with Getin2China, but there was nothing posted yet. I did find out that Getin2China had changed their name to "Gi2c". People need to be warned about this. Lying on a visa application is a felony crime.

I found some stuff about this gi2c and fake visa applications at http://chinajobinternships.wordpress.com and a lot more at Fraud Warning...Gi2C and Other China Job Internship Scams - Beware People! (1/2) - ESLwatch - ESLwatch - Information, News, Forum and School Reviews Pretty devious **** if you ask me. Julie now has a criminal record because of this Chinese fraud.
