The Federal Trade Commission has asked to federal courts to issue temporary restraining orders to stop 10 alleged “fake news” operations from using their Web sites to market acai berry weight-loss products. The FTC seeks to permanently stop these practices and has asked courts to freeze the operations’ assets pending trial.

According to the FTC, the websites that are intended to appear as if they belong to legitimate news organizations. However, the FTC maintains that the sites are simply advertisements using deceptive practices to entice consumers to buy the featured acai berry weight-loss products from other merchants.

The FTC complaints allege that the fake news sites have titles such as “News 6 News Alerts,” “Health News Health Alerts,” or “Health 5 Beat Health News.” They often include the names and logos of major media outlets such as ABC, Fox News, CBS, CNN, USA Today, and Consumer Reports and falsely represent that the reports on the sites have been seen on these networks.

The FTC is asking the courts to permanently bar the allegedly deceptive claims, and to require the companies to provide money for refunds to consumers who purchased the supplements and other products. The FTC charges that the defendants:

•make false and unsupported claims that acai berry supplements will cause rapid and substantial weight loss;
•deceptively represent that their websites are objective news reporters, that independent tests demonstrate the effectiveness of the product, and that the comments following the “articles” on their websites reflect the views of independent consumers; and
•fail to disclose their financial relationships to the merchants selling the products.
Acai berry supplements are often marketed to consumers who hope to lose weight. In 2010, the FTC filed an action against acai berry marketer Central Coast Nutraceuticals for deceptively marketing acai berry supplements as weight-loss products, and “colon cleansers” as an aid for preventing cancer.

The defendants running the fake news sites who were charged in these cases make very similar claims that consumers can experience dramatic weight loss by taking acai berry supplements in combination with a companion product such as a so-called colon cleanser.

The FTC filed the 10 complaints and requests for temporary restraining orders in six federal courts:

•In the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Eastern Division, the agency filed complaints against Beony International LLC, Mario Milanovic, and Cody Adams; Zachary S. Graham, Ambervine Marketing LLC, and Encastle Inc.; Intermark Communications, Inc. also doing business as Copeac, and IMM Interactive; Ricardo Jose Labra; and Thou Lee, also doing business as TL Advertising.
•In the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the agency filed a complaint against Circa Direct LLC and Andrew Davidson.
•In the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, the agency filed a complaint against Coulomb Media, Inc., and Cody Low, also known as Joe Brooks.
•In the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the agency filed a complaint against DLXM, LLC, also doing business as DLXM LLC, and Michael Volozin, also known as Mikhail Volozin.
•In the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, the agency filed a complaint against Charles Dunlevy.
•In the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, the agency filed a complaint against Tanner Garrett Vaughn, also doing business as Lead Expose, Inc., and Uptown Media, Inc.

I have also been able to provide some art forums with some useful biographical information about Joanne. Joanne was single when World War 11 broke out so she had three choices. 1) To join the armed forces. 2) To work in a munitions factory or 3) To work on the land and dig for victory.

Joanne chose to work on the land and she lived with our family during World War 11. I could never understand why my brother and sister said that she was part of our family but not my sister.

I have also got some marvelous stories about John Wesley the famous World War 11 artist whom I met in Putney when I knocked on his door and asked him if he would like to sell any of his paintings on a fine art web site.

I get extremely neurotic about the bugs which have found their way into my computers. Digitech Computers in Putney London SW15 have given me some very helpful advice about the use of registry cleaners and programs like CCleaner. "grumpyoldfart" is also very suspicious of some of these clean up programs. I strongly advise anybody who has done research on these porn sites to join Ex Adlanders.

Hello Friends,

This thread has been locked for a while but I decided to temporarily reopen it to express my thoughts on recent happenings and the changes I see in the community as a direct result IMO.

As many of you know by now Sara Gardner aka scratchycat aka the blow was banned /expelled from the community. I won't go into the reasons since I'm sure most of you are aware of them by now and I personally think it should have happened a long time ago but as the saying goes it's better late then never.

I noticed a few interesting things lately. Members who all of a sudden came out of the closet and admitted that they too had altercations and blow ups with scratchycat and a result learned her true character. Others simply described her in ways that I and a few others were claiming was the real Sara Gardner and not the facade of the caring and loving persona she tried so desperately to portray.

In any case I've noticed that since her "departure" the community's become a much friendlier place. Nothing's changed there still are political differences, and belief structures but they are discussed in a friendly manner that is conducive to lively discussions and make interesting reading.

Just my thoughts and I for one hope this friendly atmosphere is here to stay.

Hello Everybody

As some of you might have heard, there have been proposals made by several members on different occasions that we need a group of people in the community which would help with identifying potential issues between our members early enough so they can be dealt with before any serious problems occur.

Recently William Vanderbilt provided such a suggestion and I have asked him to take a lead in formulating such ideas.
He came to me with following mission statement, and we currently are looking for a group of volunteers who would be interested in sitting on such committee.

When I say volunteers I entirely mean that. There is not going to be any rewards for this position or perks.
If you decide to be part of this body, you will agree to be available when group needs you.

Hello Peter,

I must agree with you, the atmosphere is much better than it was. I'm glad to see that Admin finally saw the light.
In a way, I almost feel sorry for her as she must be a very unhappy person within herself.
We will always have difference of opinions it's what life is all about but we can do it in an adult way. Heck my husband and I have a lot of differences but we're still together...lol...and I still love him.
I am proud to have you as a true friend Peter, thank you for your friendship.

Hi John,

I see your concernes.

The committee's role is not to censor. In fact committee won't have any decision making abilities. The committee will only get involved when problems are reported (this happens now with the difference that I'm the only one who looks at the problem) and members of this committee will have chance to observe the problem and analyze the history and make recommendations to what decision should be made.

In the past several problems have been developing over the time and I was notified when they were at its pick. In most cases this was not only too late but it required from me substantial devotion of my time to determine what the problem is. As you might suspect, the problem never was what one party was attempting to communicate to me. In most cases after investigating I could get to early stages of the problem and find that both parties contributed to it quite often equally.

So the committee's role will be giving me an objective view of what is going on and give recommendations as to the course of action.
In addition more than one set of eyes will be available while problem is developing not when it already has developed.

As Bogdan was making money off of that place he absolutely should have hired someone qualified to to care of the place and deal with any issues. Now he has unhappy advertisers and fighting members driving away his traffic which it turns out was generated to quite a degree by spammers, prostitution related posts, drug advertisers, MLMers, scammers and the like. They are certainly not the kind of clientele any legitimate reputable advertiser is looking for as they are only there to peddle their own junk such as it is.

Georgios, Those that know me in the community know I will be polite when I post but I won't mince words when I believe something has to be said. It is impossible to do a serious statistical analysis of a poll with 31 votes and at the time we chatted there were 630 views and now 721 and probably more by the time I post this. That is less then 5% of the views and that is what you based your conclusions on? I read earlier that friends of yours stated that they didn't vote and they would have voted option 4. There are plenty others that probably felt te same. One final point on this issue. You will probably be surprised to read this but in the close group of Joanne's friends there were those that voted option 4. I know this from personal knowledge.
You see Geo, you mislead all the time in your "To Whom It May Concern". I didn't lose in the other dispute. I still firmly believe my allegations were true and so do many others. I stated then that for me it was a closed issue and here you are reopening it. As to my BTW, read it again Geo. I thought it was funny then and I still do. Do you want another BTW? In regard to the "other" dispute I know what your thoughts on that matter are too.

When the issue with deleted post started on the last night of the POTY poll 2 things happened.

1. The POTW team immediately resigned both publicly and I sent a PM to Bogdan to that affect right after the announcement in the POTY thread. So Bogdan (admin) didn't discharge us it was of our own volition.

2. I removed myself from the POTY contest.

I also sent Bogdan a PM explaining why I removed myself and that Pauline is the winner.

Everything above is documented and can be found in the POTY thread and the PM I sent Bogdan he posted when he announced Pauline was the 2008 POTY.

Gang of four? Interesting, the only gang I see now is a gang of one (with background supporters) that is trying to get his revenge with misleading statements.

I see Joanne and Peter all the time. Well I'll tell you this Geo. I gave you my recommendation in our chat just before you posted the above J'Accuse. I read your reasons why this is a problem for you in the chat and I can understand your fears. I can also understand Bogdan's concern.

I will tell you this. Just as you asked me when we made our truce/peace just last month that I ask Joanne to delete her thread my reply then was that JoAnne is a strong independent woman. She will do as she sees fit and will not be swayed by attempts to convince her to do anything against her will. The same in this case. If Joanne sees fit to delete her threads that is her choice. It is not my place nor have I the right to tell her what to do. I can tell her what my opinions are and she will in the end do as she sees fit and/or as her attorneys advise her to do.

My conclusion is different from yours. I believe that this act was planned in advance and that includes the poll (the options and wording is enough for a discerning reader to see that). I guess you want your revenge and I wonder if it might not just boomerang right back at you.

Anything to try and discredit the messenger theory. Since Bogdan can't refute any message about his cesspool of a forum. He wants to change the subject to anything but an honest discussion about the content of that place.

They are attacking you because you have caused them a great deal of harm and loss of revenue "scratchy." It is a badge of honour.

When I posted the fact that I was still allowed to post in TG, "laidback" pointed out that this was because I had not done much to reduce their advertising revenue. It was true. I have been somewhat effete in my efforts to bring down TG. All my effort has gone into the battles with MyCashForums and Adlandpro. Hold up your head with pride.

We have an Ex Adlanders forum and several Facebook groups where people who have seen Adlandpro for what it really is will start assembling in the near future. It has taken almost a year but most of my ex TG friends are members here now and I am delighted.
