SCAMMER jperkins8074@yahoo.com --- This the only open email I could locate, each profile likely has its own.

If your "army boyfriend" goes by Something Perkins and looks like any of these, you are dealing with a scammer. Below are a few links that someone dropped off of accounts on Facebook using his images. If anyone wants to play scambuster, these folks may want to hear about it. Report a Crime

Just when you thought you have found the love of your life.

Could true love have finally come your way? Just when you thought you have found the love of your life, something happens to send shivers up your spine, or at the very least, cause you to think twice. Could you be a victim or target of one of the many online dating scams on the internet? Every day, people find themselves being fooled by someone claiming to be someone they are not. A seemingly innocent flirtation ends up with someone being swindled out of large sums of money, or in possible danger. There are a number of warning signs to be aware of when it comes to online dating scams. If you are armed with a little bit of knowledge, you will be able to tell the difference between a legitimate love interest and a con. Even on the most reputable of dating websites, danger can be lurking. Many wonderful relationships have come out of online dating websites, and the information provided below will enable you to avoid the online dating scams and search for true love.

Discover the Signs of Online Dating Scams

There are many warning signs of online dating scams that you should be on the lookout for when “speaking” with a potential partner over the internet. Some of these signs may seem like common sense while others may surprise you. The most common dating scams are listed below:

    1. Unclear communication, poor or inconsistent grammar, and improper use of language. This may signal the respondent is from another country.
    2. The style of messages or communications change from time to time. This may signal more than one person is responding to the correspondence.
    3. Quick or immediate reply time of under 30 minutes. Is the respondent always available to answer right away? That may be a sign that many people are “monitoring” the emails.
    4. Are you being asked a lot of personal questions with very little information being provided in return? The e-mailer may be fishing for information.
    5. The flip side of number four is that too much personal information is shared, and may become escalated over the course of the communications, resulting in an emergency situation where you can be of help – usually with money.
    6. Someone asks you for a loan or advance of a paycheck or tax refund. Never, ever offer or send money!
    7. A photo looks too good to be true – it probably is a fake.
    8. The respondent says they are an American citizen working in another country. This is a common ruse.
    9. Some online dating scammers search for people who are recently widowed or divorced. Grief is a powerful victim.
    10. Beware of emergency situations that arise regarding accident or health concerns. Again, these are ploys to separate you from your money.
    11. You are asked for personal details that don’t seem as though they are a normal part of dating. Examples – bank information, personal finances, credit card information, and social security numbers.
    12. Avoid private meetings. Never meet someone privately the first time. Do not arrange to be picked up. Drive your own car to the very public meeting place, preferably during daylight hours. Always let someone know where you are going and who you are going to meet, with as much information as possible. Casually let the correspondent know that you have told a friend about them and your meeting.

By following these guidelines, you should be able to avoid online dating scams in your search for true love. Make the connection with care!

When looks do kill: Model suing over match.com using her images claims they were also swiped for a catfishing scam which caused a man to kill himself

Yuliana Avalos has revealed her pictures were used in a 2010 scam that led Yonkers father Al Circelli to kill himself in 2010
Avalos has already made headlines for claiming her pictures have been used in over 200 fake profiles on Match.com
She is spearheading a lawsuit against the company along with 'thousands' including famous actors, military personnel and Facebook users
The group is asking for $1.5billion in damages

By Ashley Collman and Daily Mail Reporter

    PUBLISHED: 09:12 EST, 24 November 2013 | UPDATED: 09:46 EST, 24 November 2013

A model suing match.com for using her likeness without consent has now revealed her pictures also led a New York man to kill himself after he was caught up in a catfish scam.

Yuliana Avalos, who is part of a group demanding $1.5 billion in a suit against the dating site, said Saturday that pictures of her were also used by a scammers in Ghana to steal over $50,000 from Al Circelli.

The Yonkers man killed himself in 2010 after realizing the woman he'd stolen from his own family to support financially wasn't even real.
Plot thickens: Footage from a 2010 story on Al Circelli (left), a Yonkers man who killed himself after falling victim to a catfish scam, has been revealed to also involve model Yuliana Avalos (right), who is part of a $1.5B lawsuit against match.com

At least not in the way he believed. There was, of course, a person behind the photos Circelli believed was a woman named 'Aisha,' but her name was actually Yuliana.

'The woman who he thought he was talking to was begging him for money and he finally went broke,' was her, Avalos, 31, told the New York Daily News. 'He had to borrow money from his son. He went bankrupt. He lost everything. He was so ashamed that he killed himself.'

The part-time model, who lives in Palm Bay, Florida, was pictured in a 2010 WABC story on Al Circelli's tragic end, but her name wasn't known until now.

Tragic consequences: Circelli (right), with his son Peter, believed he was sending to a woman named Aisha, when he'd actually been lining the pockets of scammers in Ghana who used Avalos' modeling photos

The face of a hundred catfish: Model Yuliana Avalos is suing Match.com for $1.5billion because hundreds of users have used her pictures in their profiles without her consent. Above, a picture of the website

Growing problem: Thousands have joined the class-action lawsuit against the dating site, including famous actors, military personnel and Facebook users

'I saw him sitting in a chair with a bullet in his head,' Circelli's son Peter revealed at the time.

The family found piles of Western Union transaction records for $300 transfers to Ghana, a country in West Africa widely known for its romance and riches scams.

He'd even turned to theft when his own money ran out, taking out lines of credit in Peter's name and getting cash advances.

'It can't be tracked. These people are like ghosts and the damage these people have caused, they shouldn't be able to cause in other people's lives,' Peter Circelli said. 'To see him go down like this, to think there are other families who might have to go through something like this, I have to open my mouth. I can't hide no more.'
'I saw him sitting in a chair with a bullet in his head': Peter Circelli said his father's 2010 suicide destroyed his family and left them struggling financially after Al stole money to send to a woman who wasn't even real

'I saw him sitting in a chair with a bullet in his head': Peter Circelli said his father's 2010 suicide destroyed his family and left them struggling financially after Al stole money to send to a woman who wasn't even real

A new drama is now unfolding for Avalos as she and 'thousands' of other actors, military personnel, and Facebook users sue match.com for the massive sum for allowing their photos to be used by others.

The part-time model and mother has never joined the dating site, but says that her pictures have been used in hundreds of fake profiles without her consent.

'Not a day goes by when someone doesn't tell me that they saw my pictures posted on Match.com or another web site,' Ms Avalos said.

Ms Avalos and the group claim that Match.com broke copyright laws and committed common law fraud by approving the fake profiles when they easily could have weeded them out with facial recognition software.
Not me: Using facial recognition software, Avalos found over 200 profiles using her pictures

'When I saw how this free software worked, it can billions of images simultaneously,' said Ms Avalos' attorney Evan Spencer. 'They can screen and make sure that the photo never appears again.'

Through the facial recognition software, Mr Spencer was able to figure out that Ms Avalos' picture was used in over 200 profiles.

Mr Spencer says that the company has chosen not to use this technology in order to maintain its rank as one of the largest dating sites on the web.

Match.com - which uses the catchphrase 'more dates, more relationships, more marriages' - currently ranks as the second largest dating site with 96million registered users, but only around 1.4million are active profiles.

The lawsuit even claims that the website is creating fake profiles on purpose, but doesn't go into detail about how that's done. The suit says that it's in the website's best interest to have a large pool of members.

For the negligent and unjust enrichment charges, the group is seeking $500million in damages and $1billion in punitive damages.

Match.com was launched in 1995 and is owned by IAC, a media and internet company based in New York.

Brian Paddick and the 'Silver Fox' dating con: Identity of former police chief stolen by fraudsters so they can lure lonely hearts - then steal their cash

    By Sarah Oliver

    PUBLISHED: 17:08 EST, 23 November 2013 | UPDATED: 05:04 EST, 24 November 2013

The picture of an urbanely handsome, silver-haired man caught the eye of lonely women across both Europe and America.

An Oxbridge education, glittering CV and worldly sophistication added to his allure.

And when he revealed he was a widower raising his small son alone, he could not have sounded like a more perfect love-match.

However, the photographs and career highlights belonged to British politician Lord Brian Paddick, who is gay and happily married to Norwegian Petter Belsvik.
Trick: A fake Facebook profile set up using pictures of Brian Paddick as part of a 'silver fox' dating con aimed at scamming money from single women

Trick: A fake Facebook profile set up using pictures of Brian Paddick as part of a 'silver fox' dating con aimed at scamming money from single women

His identity had been lifted from the internet by a gang of international fraudsters stalking single women on both sides of the Atlantic.

The conmen used his details to create rogue profiles on reputable dating websites, cross-referenced with matching fake accounts on Facebook and Skype.

Once online romance had blossomed, the tricksters asked for money to be wired to a Western Union account in Ghana on the pretext of either a business opportunity or a personal crisis.

The complex ‘Silver Fox’ fraud was unveiled when two women who had fallen for Lord Paddick’s pictures tracked him down in real life to warn him.
Fury: Lord Paddick, who was alerted to the scam by women who had been duped, is gay and happily married to Norwegian Petter Belsvik

It is the latest twist in a global phenomenon where handsome older men – so-called Silver Foxes – are used as bait for lonely middle-aged women, who often have access to cash after being widowed or divorced.

As well as Lord Paddick, American General Wesley Clark’s photograph and military background routinely appear on fake internet dating profiles.

He is one of the most highly decorated four-star generals of the US military.
War hero: Photographs of American Colonel Tim Collins were also used on fake profiles

British Gulf War hero Colonel Tim Collins has also been exploited. The former officer from the Royal Irish Regiment shot to global prominence after his eve-of-battle speech to troops in Iraq in 2003.

The married father of five once received an anguished email from an American woman waiting for him at Pittsburgh Airport – asking why ‘he’ had not disembarked from his flight after she had bought ‘him’ a ticket home from the Gulf.

Fake emails purportedly from him to other American lonely hearts claim he is divorcing his wife and making a fresh start in the US, where he has been given a new home by the President for his ‘services to humanity’.

Last night Lord Paddick spoke out to condemn the cruel conmen, saying: ‘These women have been profoundly confused and distressed, extraordinarily strong emotional attachments have developed and money has changed hands.

‘It’s been devastating for them and I am powerless to stop it. Who knows how many more victims have chosen, through embarrassment or sheer heartbreak, to keep quiet.’

The 55-year-old Liberal Democrat peer was alerted to the hijacking of his pictures and data when a German single mother emailed to say she had been swindled.

Within 48 hours, the former Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police had also been contacted by an American nurse.

The gang pretending to be Lord Paddick are Ghanaian and use aliases for him – Alvin Coleman in the US and Henry Smith in Germany.

One of the Henry Smith victims, a divorced mother of three from Lower Saxony, spoke to The Mail on Sunday on condition of anonymity.

'Betrayed': Nurse Debbie Cason fell victim to the 'Silver Fox' scam

Nurse Debbie Cason fell victim to the Silver Fox scam after signing up with American site Match.com last month.

Debbie, 60, of Illinois, received a message from a man calling himself Alvin Coleman – who used Lord Paddick’s pictures and professional details from his time as a Metropolitan Police chief.

Coleman invited the divorcee to become a friend on Facebook and within days she was spending up to three hours a night chatting to him on the social media site.

She said: ‘I couldn’t believe that this distinguished, educated, sophisticated man – let’s face it, he was a great catch – wanted to spend so much time with me.

'I was flattered but a bit baffled when he started asking me what kind of jewellery I liked and if I’d accompany him on some of his round-the-world trips.

‘It was my 15-year-old grandson who said, “This is too good to be true.” He did an image search on Google and showed me photos of Brian Paddick.
‘He said: “Grandma, this man is the Mayor of London.’’ [Lord Paddick was twice Lib Dem candidate for Mayor]. My first thought was, “Why has the Mayor of London stolen Alvin Coleman’s photos?’’
‘That shows you how deep you can get in just a few days.
‘I always thought internet dating was a safe choice and, in retrospect, I ignored a lot of red flags. I feel hurt, betrayed, used, embarrassed and angry at my own gullibility.’

She told how Smith had been portrayed as a widowed Australian engineer working in Berlin and raising an eight-year-old son alone.

Within days she was chatting to him for two hours at lunchtime and two hours in the evening.

‘I became emotionally dependent on him very fast,’ she recalls. ‘He reached out to me, let me dream of a future together and told me things I desperately wanted to be true.

'It was a slick psychological con trick.

‘He dropped into conversation a couple of times that his company did fundraising for a hospital in Ghana and he went there to help.

‘So when he called me from Africa on one occasion it checked out. I thought he was a humanitarian helping with blankets and clothes for sick children.

Vulnerable: The con is aimed at luring lonely women and tricking them into sending cash

'While there, he asked for money, €850 [£710], to pay for the shipping costs of some gold which he said would secure his future and mine.

'It was a line from a B-list movie and I fell for it. I thought if I didn’t send the money then I wouldn’t get to see him when he came back as promised.

‘I wired €300 [£250] which took me up to my overdraft limit. When he demanded more I guessed I’d been conned – I wanted to run to the bathroom to be physically sick.

‘My 16-year-old daughter used image-matching technology and identified Henry Smith as Brian Paddick. I haven’t told many people or gone to the police. I am too sad and ashamed.

'Worst of all is that for the month I was corresponding with Henry Smith, I was the happiest I have been in many years.’

Partly in response to the scale and seriousness of these online dating scams, 13 of Britain’s best-known internet dating websites have formed a new trade association – the Online Dating Association – to be launched next month.

One of its key concerns will be its members’ ability to safeguard the hearts and wallets of vulnerable clients. Its chief executive will be George Kidd, a former British consul and ex-Cabinet Office director responsible for compliance policy.

He said: ‘Online dating is now part of everyday life, it’s the biggest single way people meet.

‘The industry has matured to the point that it needs a code of practice and membership of the ODA will be like a hallmark people can trust.

'Our members each have their own technological methods of policing profiles and protecting clients and, of course, they have regard for the vulnerability of people’s circumstances.

‘They do all they can, but they are not there to replace common sense. The guiding principle in online dating has to be: If you wouldn’t tell or give someone something in real life, don’t do it on the internet.’

Well, like a lot of you, i also met a soldier online, he goes by the name Sergeant Jeffery Garcia. His email is jffe.gar@gmail.com or lovheartman@live.com
He hasn’t asked for money yet, but he did ask me to write an email to ask for a leave to this address: dept.transit@usa.com
Does this soldier sounds familiar to anyone?
I know he is a fake, cause i met a girl on the datingsite who was chatting to him to, with the same story! So watch out for him!!

Thanks so very much for the reply. It really a pleasure to hear from u and i must admit that it brought smile to my face to see your message. Yes it really sound good staring off as friends, but due to security reasons i cannot disclose much information about me here since i work with the US Military have to follow protocols. Please hope you will understand better and we can exchange private emails for a more better and extensively communication.

You have a pretty attractive smile and will be a honor knowing you more. If you don't mind you can please leave me a message on jffe.gar@ gmail.com

I pulled the following emails from the link I posted above, found them while looking for that scumbags story. ALL OF THESE ARE SCAM EMAIL ADDRESSES. I quoted someone named Meredith below and then Army CID. It can not be any more clear, if you are being asked for money, goods, or services, you are being SCAMMED. The only legitimate/official email from the military ENDS IN .MIL.

Army CID is warning anyone who is involved in online dating to proceed with caution when corresponding with persons claiming to be U.S. Soldiers currently serving in Afghanistan or elsewhere.

Army CID receives hundreds of allegations a month from victims who state they got involved in an online relationship with someone, on a legitimate dating website or other social media website, who claims to be a U.S. Soldier. The "Soldier" then begins asking for money for various false service-related needs such as transportation costs, communication fees, marriage, processing and medical fees. Victims of these online scams have lost tens of thousands of dollars, with a very low possibility of recovery.

The U.S. has established numerous task force organizations to deal with this growing epidemic; unfortunately, many times the people committing these scams are from African countries using untraceable email addresses, routing accounts through numerous locations around the world and utilizing pay per hour Internet cyber cafes, which often times maintain no accountability of use.

For more on the actual fraudulent acts, read the announcements released by Army CID:
With National Spotlight on Internet Romance-Type Scams, Army CID Makes Additional Attempts to Warn Unsuspecting Victims

Update iconCLICK HERE TO SEE EXAMPLES OF FAKE DOCUMENTS USED BY SCAMMERS

If you feel you have been scammed by a person claiming to be a U.S. Army Soldier, please read the attached letter and contact the FTC and IC3.

    WHAT TO LOOK FOR:
    - DON’T EVER SEND MONEY! Be extremely suspicious if you are asked for money for transportation costs, communication fees or marriage processing and medical fees. Use of Western Union

    - If you do start an internet-based relationship with someone, check them out, research what they are telling you with someone who would know, such as a current or former service member.

    - Be very suspicious if you never get to actually speak with the person on the phone or are told you cannot write or receive letters in the mail. Servicemen and women serving overseas will often have an APO or FPO mailing address. Internet or not, service members always appreciate a letter in the mail.

    - Many of the negative claims made about the military and the supposed lack of support and services provided to troops overseas are far from reality - check the facts.

    - Be very suspicious if you are asked to send money or ship property to a third party or company. Often times the company exists, but has no idea or is not a part of the scam.

    - Be very suspicious if the person you are corresponding with wants you to mail anything to an African country.

    - Be aware of common spelling, grammatical or language errors in the emails.

    - Be very suspicious of someone you have never met and who pledges their love at warp speed.

Re: Sweetheart Scammer or did this really hot person pick me above all others?

Canadian woman loses $1.3m in Match.com dating scam

A CANADIAN woman who joined an online dating site looking for a companion instead lost $1.3 million to a fraudster she had never met in person.

"Ellen", who shared her embarrassing tale on condition of anonymity, signed up to Match.com in 2010 thinking it would be "fun just to banter back and forth with someone," she told the Toronto Star.

It was there that the retiree from British Columbia, who was 65 at the time, met "Dave Field". His profile picture showed a somewhat handsome, balding middle-aged man. They chatted online and over the phone: He told her he was of Swedish descent but living in Los Angeles. She was intrigued.

Things escalated when Ellen suggested the pair meet in LA: "He didn’t balk at that," she recalled.

But things changed when she booked her flight. He suddenly claimed he was busy, or that he had appointments. She cancelled that reservation and tried again a few weeks later. He continued to dodge her.

"So I just put it on the line and said, ‘What’s up with this? Why are we playing games?’" Ellen recalled. "He said, 'It’s not a game.' And what was the excuse? He was trying to unravel his father’s estate."

Dave told Ellen he had been left a large inheritance offshore, but because of a lawyer’s incompetence, he had to clear some debts before he could sell the assets.

"I am of the nature that I would help anybody,” Ellen told the newspaper. "I don’t like the idea of not being able to help somebody if I can."

She began transferring money to Dave, or people claiming to act for him, via MoneyGram: first $C945 ($977), then tens and even hundreds of thousands of dollars at a time. Gradually, her retirement savings were funneled into accounts in Hong Kong, Greece, Singapore - even Nigeria.

Documentation showed transfers totalling roughly $C1.3 million, in US dollars, euros and British pounds.

Whenever she became reluctant to send more, "It was, 'You’ve already sent me this money - how am I supposed to pay you back if we don’t go to the next step?'" Ellen said. Dave would also sweeten his shakedowns with endearments like "baby," "honey" and "sweetheart".

Ellen finally came to her senses when a relative told her point blank that she was being conned.

She eventually took the matter to the authorities, but it was unclear what happened to her complaint.

Ellen was still at a loss to explain how she was reeled in so far. Her advice to other would-be romantics: "Never make a payment. Never. That first payment is the hook. I wish I could shake people."

Most of the 'looking for romancers' do not have that kind of money to lose but if they did, they would. We have chatted with some victims and even after being taken and losing lots of money or wind up with both money loss and heartbread, they go right back and try to find the next lover who tells them they are beautiful or handsome and want to get married. Oh, but my mom is in hospital and I need several thousand to get her out so relatives can take care of her, etc. They BELIEVE it and send money. I feel sad for some of them but then you just shake your head and say it is their choice and you cannot stop them. They only stop when the money runs out or they are in debt over their heads. Such a shame.

I am glad Ribshaw is making so much of this public in RS and many other places. It has helped many people wake up and realize they are being conned before more damage is done. Yet, others just ignore us and take their chances. Thanks for sharing this story LRM.

Re: Sweetheart Scammer or did this really hot person pick me above all others?

I made friends with a person on FB to try and help them. Maybe they are learning and won't fall for the scammers but changing profile pictures that are nothing but "come on" types will always attract the bad guys & girls. Some people do not learn until they have been burned and it only slows them down and they jump back out there looking for that dream mate.

It is so easy to tell if the person is real or not. Most times they will use first names as first and last in English and American. The language is terrible even when they say they are from America. Sometimes the photos give them away as the name plate will be a different name than what they are using.

The fb profile will be new and the only friends are women or men in case of female scammer. Which on the other side of monitor can be either or a group intent on taking your money. They work in shifts and around the clock. You can even see when they sometimes forget and change genders in middle of conversation.

Scamming, sometimes it just doesn't work out so well.

Man sentenced for killing stripper after scam
    Associated Press, . 8:58 a.m. EST December 10, 2013

JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – A southern Indiana man has been sentenced to 65 years in prison for fatally shooting a strip club dancer who he claimed had scammed him out of $20,000 with a false relationship.

A Clark County judge ordered the maximum sentence for murder Monday against 44-year-old Ronald Shewmaker of Corydon, calling the shooting death of 32-year-old Lisa McQuirt “an act of cowardice.”

Jurors rejected Shewmaker’s claims of self-defense in convicting him last month for the February shooting at McQuirt’s Clarksville home.

The News and Tribune reports (Family, friends have say during sentencing hearing in Clarksville murder case » Recent Local News » News and Tribune ) Shewmaker met McQuirt last year at a New Albany strip club where she worked as a dancer. They began a relationship and McQuirt had introduced her husband as her brother. Testimony indicated Shewmaker was told the day of the shooting that the relationship was a scam.
