I answered
I am lost. Who is James? Where did you meet? Is there a picture that I am not seeing? How do you know him?
Carol L.
Destroyer. The U S S Zumwalt this is for real Warren has checked him out of me it's all on line with the Navy. I sent you one of him on the ship.
On facebook.

I responded:
Carol, That is a fake profile. How many of those are you going to fall for? His English is atrocious. You are putting yourself in danger with these clowns on Facebook.

Carol L.
Thank you for this
I inquire:
Is he the new man in your life you posted about today?
Clueless Carol L. answers:
Yes
I tell her:
You are really scaring me!
Carol L. lies to get rid of me and says:
Don't be it's over.
I responded:
I reported the profile and you should do the same so perhaps other women will not be sucked in. These guys are dangerous. Do you have any other contact information about him like a phone number or e-mail? Those should go to law enforcement as he may have multiple victims.
Carol L. (likely telling tales again)
No I have nothing. I hadn't asked for it.
I say:
For your sake that is good as he doesn't have yours either. Thank God it hadn't gone any farther. I worry about you!
Carol does her usual manipulations:
Thank you Heather it means more than you can ever know.
I inform Carol L. that I have contacted her sister and niece:
Tue 8:00pm
I had a wonderful chat with K and K today. They are looking forward to getting to know D and N as well. We are all going to be working together and communicating so we can do what is needed for you. We are all very worried. You are still friends on Facebook with that scammer even though you have been told how dangerous it is for you and all of us connected with you on here. You need to report his profile and unfriend and block him right now.
Carol L.
That's fine Heather,
I can't bring myself to do it. Just being blunt honest. An what did my sister say since I don't hear from her, except rarely.
I answer:
All of us, family and friends, love you and want to work together to help you. We will all be talking and figuring things out.
Carol L:
Thank You I appreciate it
Chat Conversation End
I am showing you the victim, because it is so important that folks see these scammers are hurting real people, the most alone, desperate and needy out there. Carol is about to turn 69 and has been widowed for over a decade. She can't see that a real man that is 18 years her junior holding several advanced degrees and the Captain of the most technologically advanced ship in the Navy is not going to fall for her online. She lives Social Security check to Social Security check. She has been involved in at least two other romance scams and was assaulted and almost killed by a drug dealer in the last several years. Her health is failing and she is almost bedridden. She refused to testify against the drug deal for assault. The local DA threw the book at him and when he got out she took this violent criminal into her hotel room where he died of a heart attack. She has no children and all of her family is far away and most have given up seeing what trouble she is constantly getting herself into. The FBI happily takes the reports, but they are so understaffed and underfunded all they can do is recommend that the Carols out there ignore these Facebook romance scammers. These victims often can't do that. They desperately cling to these fantasies.

I used my fake profile to friend said romance scammer and that story will follow.
