It’s important to remember, however, that Mandela has been the first to hold his hands up to his shortcomings and mistakes. In books and speeches, he goes to great length to admit his errors. The real tragedy is that too many in the West can’t bring themselves to see what the great man himself has said all along; that he’s just as flawed as the rest of us, and should not be put on a pedestal.

I know of Mandela, he's still a great man. I wish him all the best in wherever he is now, be it just being eaten by worms, Valhalla, or Heaven.

Maybe it is not a right time and clearly a revolution cannot be done without blood. But when someone involves himself in terrorist activity and murders civilians not just as collateral
but in some cases targets specifically civilians, will never have any respect in my heart dead or alive regardless the means.
I hope I will never be "flawed" as him.

Yes Mandela was a communist and supported armed struggle. But every time the US defined terrorism they had to change the definition since they ended up doing what they defined as terrorism. US presidents owned slaves. I have no doubt many original "revolutionaries" killed civilians/subjects. Even in the modern era many innocent civilians were killed in Iraq for example when ther was no evidence at all ( and I mean this was verified before and after the invasion) that Saddam had WMD or that he had training camps for Al Khyda etc. Yet the US invaded and even after that barraged whole cities . The US and British used chemical Weapons in Falluja for example. And the French Belgians Russians Chinese and other colonial imperialists all did similar. they put their personal profit ahead of human rights.
So who is anyone to cast stones at Mandela who served 27 years in a prison because he believed that blacks should have equal rights?
