Fresh out, but we'd be delighted to hear yours!
It seems like in this "industry" common sense is not all that common!

    Re: Customer From Hell

I work in a sales/customer service position at a spa, now let me start off by saying that the job itself is not a bad one; my coworkers are awesome, wonderful people, even the bosses are cool, and the hours are great. Most of our clients are fine, except for when they aren’t. When they’re good, they’re good, but when they’re bad, oh boy, THEY ARE BAD. they are entitled, ignorant, soul-sucking parasites who seem to take pleasure out of making someones workday a complete nightmare. Here’s a recent example:

a guy calls our clinic, and because the universe hates me, I am the unfortunate soul who answers the phone. He claims that he was recently given a gift card for a $100 service, and say’s that he does not want to use it and would like a refund. I explain to him that no, we cannon’t refund a gift card after it has been purchased. He then asks what he’s supposed to do with it (UH, I DON’T KNOW, SPEND IT? YOU MORON) I explain that he can either use it or gift it to someone else. He argues that he doesn’t like spa treatments, and I suggest that he can use the gift card to buy some of our skincare products as a an alternative. He grumbles “ok, thanks” then hangs up the phone. 15 minutes later, he calls again, asking the same question! Can I get a refund for this gift card? NO! Seriously? does this guy not remember that he just called us? I mean WTF? I assume he thought i was just being difficult with him for no apparent reason (because obviously I’m just an evil bitch, intentionally preventing you, and ONLY you from redeeming your precious gift card, and not, you know, just enforcing company policy) he thought someone other than me would pick up the phone (SMART MOVE, JERKOFF) I reiterate once more that we cannot give him money for a gift card. He says’s that he gets massages for free from his Chiropractor, and blah, blah, blah, why would he go to our clinic when he can get FREE therapy *facepalm* BECAUSE IT WOULD ALSO BE FREE IF YOU USE A GIFT CARD YOU DID NOT PAY FOR, YOU ******* ASSCLOWN. He becomes irritated, “So it’s a scam then? you guys have REALLY got a good scam going on!” Yes, of course! How can someone be so cruel as to purchase a $100 gift card for you? they CLEARLY hate your guts and are trying to scam you. I calmly explain, that no, it’s not a scam, in fact most places will not redeem gift cards, and even IF they did, only the original buyer would be able to redeem it. Oh, but I guess you’re not at all trying to scam us by getting money back from an item YOU DID NOT EVEN PURCHASE. At this point, I’m done. I want to reach through the phone and sucker punch this man, in a vain attempt to knock some sense into him. However, I end the conversation politely enough, by telling him that if he wants to, he can come in and speak to management about the issue, but I can’t make any guarantees. He lets out a large sigh, “ok fine” and hangs up the phone.

Situations like that happen on a daily basis at my work, it has made me more cynical than ever. People are cheap, they’ll try to get free **** at any cost. they’ll do anything to make or save a quick buck, as long as they don’t have to actually work for it. Just a couple frequent gems: “My service ended 2 minutes earlier than expected, i think I should be comped a half hour!” “you mean I can’t come in and get FREE service after I didn’t pay my last 3 payments of membership? So unfair!” They take advantage of the calm demeanor workers are required to have, just rubbing their hands together, pushing you further, and further hoping you snap, so that they can shriek, “let me speak to your manager!” and feel good about themselves knowing that your employment status is potentially in their hands. Such a sad, pathetic bunch. It boggles my mind, like who raised these people to be that way? what is so terrible in their life that they have to treat others so poorly? Still, I like to believe that most customers are genuinely good people,, but the number of shitbags out there is just so overwhelming.
I read this here and **** like this makes me smile. Its not that this poor person had to deal with people like this but its reminds me that I am not alone. People can suck.
