JFK Airport hotel shooting occurred during meeting about internet get-rich-quick scheme

A DEADLY shooting Thursday inside a John F. Kennedy International Airport hotel cafe came during a meeting to discuss an internet get-rich-quick scheme, the New York Post learned.
The attendees were discussing plans to sell vitamins and food supplements online when Gary Zalevsky pulled out a Beretta .380 and opened fire on Brian Weiss, 31, an acquaintance of the group said Friday.

Zalevsky, 47, then turned the gun on himself as the other four men at the meeting ran for cover at the Hilton Garden Inn Thursday afternoon.

"He said he was totally shocked. He was insanely shocked. He told me he had no clue that was going to happen," the source said one of the attendees told him.

The acquaintance doubts any Russian mob connection to the case.

"They're afraid of their own shadows -- none of those guys are tough guys," he said. "I heard they ran away as soon as the shots rang out. They were scared out of their minds."

The gunfire erupted in the middle of a meeting, which cops said was conducted in Russian. It is unclear what sparked the violence.

"Apparently, [Zalevsky and Weiss] had some sort of rift between them that nobody else knew about," said the acquaintance.

Police were still stumped Friday over Zalevsky's motive.

"There was no indication of a dispute," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

Police said the gun Zalevsky used was reported stolen in Oregon.

The survivors have all hired lawyers, and they have told investigators little, Kelly said. But police have confirmed the meeting to establish a "vitamin or food supplement business."

Kelly said it was unclear whether the men were linked to the Russian mob.

"We're not ruling anything out. We simply don't know," he said.

This is getting really serious when they start shooting each other!! Must be one heck of a big deal to peddle vitamin or food supplements!! Sounds like they were quick to run away.
