    Anybody read books?

Im not a big reader unless its something Im interested in. I dont read fiction and dont like love stories. I like reading about facts and history. Just got finished with Decision Points by George W. Bush. (flame suit on for the libs) I loved 80 percent of it. There was a few chapters that dealt with Africa that I didnt care about. Overall, it was an excellent read and gives anybody a new perspective just how hard that job is. LIke this guy or not he stood on his convictions and didnt govern by polls or politics. He really stuck to his beliefs agree with them or not. Being in that job is a real pressure cooker and everybody is going to make some mistakes.

My next read is Pinheads and Patriots by Bill Oreilly.

    Re: Anybody read books?

I am a huge reader of books and have been since I was a child. We were/are all big readers in my family and I passed this trait onto my own kids. I generally have 5 plus books going at once. Currently I am reading Calculated Risk The Extraordinary Life of Jimmy Doolittle-Jonna Doolittle Hoppes, What The Night Knows- Dean Koontz, Phoenix Rising - John Nance, A Hostage To Fortune - Ernest K. Gann, North Star Over My Shoulder - Bob Buck, Tick Tock - James Patterson, Himalaya- Michael Palin, The Confession- John Grisham and Dark Summit The True Story of Everest's Most Controversial Season - Nick Heil. I spend a lot of time at airports and in planes so I have plenty of time to read at work and some at home. I always have books with me most places that I go, to read while I am "waiting".

I read fiction and nonfiction.....history, exploration, adventure, aviation, travel, detective, horror, biographies, memoirs, suspense/thriller, life sciences, classics, cooking, are my most favorite categories I guess. I've always had a pretty large library and frequent the used bookstores and on line for my reading. I often have some gentle music on when I read as well.

I always have a few piles of the "next in line" books stacked up in my den to read when I finish a book I am currently on. Have about 6 piles of those at the moment, waiting.

I love to read, just don't get enough time to do as much as I like. My kids got me a Kindle for Christmas - I do love it, but there is that "thing" about holding a book and turning the pages that is esthetically pleasing... Plus the Kindle makes it difficult to cheat and read forward a few pages (ok, maybe more than a few pages!) to reassure yourself that yes, everything turns out ok!! I'm mostly a sci-fi/fantasy person, and do love to re-read books that interest me.

You sound much like the way I feel about reading books from a screen. I still like the feel of a real book in my hands and the old bookmark to go along. I used to read true stories but find that a good mystery surely takes away from the reality we are faced with during these times. A rainy day, a cup of tea, snuggled on sofa with a British Mystery - what could be better?? Have reread most of Agatha Christie's books several times.

Now if you like poetry, mystery, or family books, I have published a few.

I especially like MacDonald's Travis McGee books. I also really like Ludlum, Crichton, Grisham, Clancy too and even some of the old Haileys. Heck, some of Jimmy Buffet's novels are pretty good. Griffin is great! I have been re-reading his books from the 80's.

    Re: Anybody read books?

I love reading and do not do enough of it...
Mainly historical, theological or loosely medical related stuff , but my taste is fairly eclectic I think.
I do not read a huge amount of fiction, I tend to prefer my fiction to be attempts to describe the future or past in logical or reality based parameters if I read it.

A lot of well established and quoted history books would fit into this description ....fiction dressed up as fact in the abcense of any way to dispute it.

is there a spell check here at this site?, or do I have to use word after a quick cut and paste back?
