Lance Armstrong and his Liestrong story...

Re: Lance Armstrong and his Liestrong story...
I did not watch the interview but the media has gone wild with it!!! He beat cancer and has helped others. It is my opinion that all athletes use some kind of enhancements. Seems his lies just finally got to him so now he has to pay the penalty. If he were the only one...
This entire regiment should be looked at by those in cancer research. Maybe some of the techniques he used could be put to better use for cancer victims rather than the drugs they use now to try and destroy the cancer. From personal experience those type treatments just weaken the body and mind but do nothing to stop the growth of cancer. Of course there have been advancements made in recent years for some types of cancer, still the treatments bring in more money than the actual elimination of cancer.
Don't get ripped off!! Stay informed!

Re: Lance Armstrong and his Liestrong story...
That lying sack of $hit, Armstrong should be burned at the stake. Years of lies, threats, ruined lives of those sharing the truth and millions of dollars landing in the pockets of a complete fraud. I have no intention of forgiving this deceitful *******!
Lance Armstrong outs himself as a sociopathic liar in a staged Oprah 'confession' that smacks of yet more public image manipulation
That is a great read and I couldn't have said it better myself!

I think the Onion said it best:
Lance Armstrong Admits To Using Performance-Enhancing Drugs To Show Remorse
AUSTIN, TX—Disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong kicked off a campaign to restore his image Monday by admitting in a television interview with Oprah Winfrey that he used a sophisticated cocktail of performance-enhancing drugs to evince remorse and shame. “To make the kind of heartfelt apology I am making now without the help of drugs would be impossible, and so when it came to convincing millions of people that I am a decent human being who is capable of actual regret, I needed an edge,”

You made a killing dealing real estate at NASA selling cemetery plots in outer space til some falling coffins crashed upon your doorstep: Welcome to the human race.

Saying the true after so many years and after being retired from cycling is NOT enough. He should refund everything he won illegally from awards and sponsorships. But not only him but also his team who also profit a lot with him. For me he still an idol because using dopping gives advantages but efforts are also needed to win 7 tours in 7 years. Many famous artists used drugs and many people still have them as "idols". But if a sportsman use dopping he become a loser & liar so easily...

Re: Lance Armstrong and his Liestrong story...
It appears that Lance has finally decided to do something with his ill-gotten gains. Something that will let everyone know that he really is a truly decent human being.
To show people how remorseful he is, he just purchased himself a multimillion dollar mansion in Texas this week to help ease his conscience.
This man's sickening behavior is just beyond comprehension.
And yahoo has pictures of his luxurious pad, too. Personally, I don't like it; the outside of the home is cold and ugly. And I wouldn't want to fall off that scary bridge. I do have a fear of heights.
I don't know what's worse . . . the bridge, the home, or the hideous creature that lives inside.

Re: Lance Armstrong and his Liestrong story...
I feel that is one of the biggest flaws in American, but for that matter probably the world. If Lance was some street kid slinging a little dope to pay the bills he would have been thrown in prison and likely had his whole life ruined. But same kid does enough drugs to make millions, pays a fine without admitting guilt and moves into his new mansion.

Re: Lance Armstrong and his Liestrong story...
This piece of crap destroyed many people over the years. Whatever happens to him will never be enough in my humble opinion. I don't think think this story is over with by any means.

Re: Lance Armstrong and his Liestrong story...
WASHINGTON (AFP) - The US Justice Department has filed a formal complaint against Lance Armstrong, saying the doping-disgraced cyclist and team owners defrauded the US Postal Service of sponsorship money.
The government, which said in February that it would join a whistle-blower lawsuit brought by former Armstrong teammate Floyd Landis in 2010, says the USPS spent about $40 million in sponsor money and gave Armstrong $17 million.
Armstrong admitted last January that he took performance-enhancing drugs when he won the Tour de France seven times after having been stripped of the crowns based upon a US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) investigation.
That prompted the US government's involvement in the fraud case, and it now seeks triple damages in a jury trial, according to the complaint as detailed Tuesday by NBC News and the Austin American-Statesman, Armstrong's hometown newspaper.
That could mean a total $150 million hit for Armstrong.
"Because the defendants' misconduct undermined the value of the sponsorship to the USPS, the United States suffered damages in that it did not receive the value of the services for which it bargained," the newspaper quoted the complaint as saying.
The elaborate scheme to evade doping detection uncovered by USADA was cited in the complaint, which said Armstrong team manager Johan Bruyneel knowingly took part in a doping program in violation of their sponsorship contract.
"Riders on the USPS-sponsored team, including Armstrong, knowingly caused material violations of the sponsorship agreements by regularly and systematically employing banned substances and methods to enhance their performance," the complaint claimed according to NBC.
"Defendants were unjustly enriched to the extent of the payments and other benefits they received from the USPS, either directly or indirectly."
Elliot Peters, Armstrong's attorney, disputed whether the USPS suffered any damage as a result of its 1998-2004 sponsorship of the team.
"The DOJ's complaint against Lance Armstrong is opportunistic and insincere," Peters said in a statement sent to AFP.
"The US Postal Service benefited tremendously from its sponsorship of the cycling team. Its own studies repeatedly and conclusively prove this. The USPS was never the victim of fraud."
"Lance Armstrong rode his heart out for the USPS team and gave the brand tremendous exposure during the sponsorship years."
Studies commissioned by the USPS said the team generated about $100 million in exposure and brand awareness for the postal service, but how that brand might be tarnished in the wake of the doping revelations has not been studied.
