A new thread what a surprise:
Yes SBM we have recovered

What's wrong Chicklet, can't find any scams to talk about? Once again your most popular threads center around this site. That's pretty sad.
I'll pit our 1095 users to your 18 any day of the week and call it a recovery.
Hey, the problem will get fixed, it always does. Don't worry your little head over it.....
My definition: A female who is insignificant, an airhead. I've read some of her twitter stuff, it applies.
Urban dictionary: A chicklet is commonly found at a Nascar race, drag race, or trailer park BBQ
Take your choice....
How not? It's isn't hard to moderate 10 people who can only talk about one topic and that's what is going on over here.
Lady Mod
LM,
Chicklet asks where's Zachary / George? He hasn't bothered to log on all day. So, we will not hold our breath waiting for it to get fixed by the dude who managed to hose it. Good to see there is a little activity over there. At least the topic you tried to explore here didn't come up. :RpS_scared:

(I've also used it talking to very young girls as a term of endearment. That's not how it's meant for SBM.)

Seems this is upsetting to Father.
Then I guess he can skedaddle back over to the other site.

Is it OK to mention the other site by posting the address in a post on this forum?
Depends how it's mentioned?

Do you know if Father is a Priest?
He has his location as Vatican City and all info he has in his profile would tell us he is indeed a Priest but I wonder if he really is?
I guess I saw that Vatican City location on the other site. It is not his location in his profile on this forum. I know I saw Vatican City, Rome.
Priest or pedophile? Isn't it difficult to tell the difference these days?
I seriously doubt he's a priest, maybe a wannabe.

Our very dear Father said over yonder:
Quote:
Should I call you "chicklet" like a certain poster doeswhen relating to SBM,on this forum.
No---that would be in bad taste, wouldnt it,especially from someone in a senior position,me,Im just a very humble poster.
I think you should remember though that its scam.com that have all the problems, not "the other site".Why dont you refer it by its proper name
www.realscam.com ? Its existence is an open secret. They dont have "server busy please try later",or a practically blank forum, nor do entire threads go mysteriously missing with regular monotony. Also the OWNER of the site is constantly available, you know, like when you need him,and as in unlike Zac.
Thank you kind sir! I couldn't have said it better myself. For several posters over there a blank post is a marked improvement.

Latest theory posted:
Quote:
I looked at the source text from one of the threads and I noticed that the google syndication ads scripts are still running. The anomally is in the space where the text for the posts should appear.
I also visited the VBulletin forum (VBulletin is the name of the software that the forum runs on and is owned by a company called Jelsoft) and although I didn't find the exact problem, I found that it is possible that either the owner of scam has installed a non-compatible upgrade and corrupted the CSS template without saving a backup or testing the new template (on the VBulletin forum there is a place to test upgrades and alterations to the software settings) or in an effort to delete the dating ads, the owner has removed vital code necessary to keep the integrity of the software or (and to me this is the most likely explanation) when the owner handed over admin privileges to a new moderator, the new moderator may have had a motive to scuttle the site and screwed with the software her/himself.
Of course, as a registered user of the VBulletin software, the owner is able to log in to the forum and post his concerns. There are many experts who can usually sort out any problem with relative ease. If the owner has chosen not to avail himself or this free service, then it could be assumed that either the owner doesn't care about the site or has sabotaged it himself for reasons only known to himself.
Still, It would be nice if the owner would 'fess-up' in any case, but this type of behavior is par for the course, so don't hold your breath.

re: Something Strange on the Other Site / Scam.com Plummeting Traffic / George Dranichak
That's pretty much spot on with one major exception, no mod has access to edit the CSS templates, that can only be done by an Admin with the correct permissions. The problem was created after MWave was banned so the only remaining Admins who could have done this are George and Zack and I have to admit, both are remarkably similar in their programing skills.
I don't want to hip them to any secrets but they do have all the working code they need, right there and right now and if they just compare that to the parts that aren't working, they will see their problem. Perhaps this will teach George to make back ups before he starts editing, but don't bet on it.

As far as I can see from what I've read, Len Whatshisface was given admin privileges so it's entirely possible!
However, see the last part of my post:-

In all Truthfulness the site does not need George. With a site that has been around for 6 years....has 154,596 members 47,718 threads and 706,854 posts the site will do absolutely fine. Not only that the site has an absolute ingenious name scam.com. The site is fine without George.
The scary part about the whole thing is that all the posts except the first and last posts of the thread are blank AND the web address is not scam.com it is being redirected to 208.86.2.178 AND there is still 993 people who are viewing the site.
Heck people are so crazy about scam.com that they are viewing the printable page to sidestep the blank posts to read them. posters like walksthedog has admitted that he has taken these extreme measures and admits that it is tedious. I am guaranteeing that he is not the only poster who has taken these extreme measures to view the posts.
If you ask for my humble opinion realscam will never become what scam.com is. Scam.com has the years, the name and the obsessive posters who will go to extreme lengths to read the posts even when there are glitches.
The ONLY way I think realscam will compare to scam.com is if scam.com ultimately fails and the site is taken offline and with George at the helm og the site I think that it is very likely it will.

You might want to check out your figures or at least have been a mod to justify these figures. For example, go down to the bottom of the first page and looks at birthdays today. Then click on any username listed. These people haven't been around for years. MOST of the members came on, registered, make one or two posts, some none, and never returned. That's a fact.
As for the people viewing, I guess you didn't read my previous response to this. It's not accurate. Not even close. Maybe at max 50 are viewing at this time. When they can't see the posts, they leave. The who is online does not refresh. It just keeps adding people to the figures.

There is a difference between prodding and poking and outright hate and vile between the factions...
Highly unprofessional, as I said and counter-productive to the industry in the extreme.

re: Something Strange on the Other Site / Scam.com Plummeting Traffic / George Dranichak
Finally and from a surprising source! (not trying to be a smartass).. common sense finally rears it's ugly head! It has been quite obvious that once again the address changed.. at the same time the threads disappeared.. and yes.. there are tons of members, and the site ranks HIGH in all the search engines.. it will come back.. no doubt about it..
It WILL make money.. IF the owner gets the whole adsense thing resolved.. will it be resolved the way he is doing it AND maintain traffic? Nope... He WILL have to make some big changes to the forum and kiss googles behind and hope they appreciate it.. (that is just my opinion as a fellow website owner)
All the theories of "len is attacking" and the owner just hasn't visited vbulletins forums.. and blah blah blah.. once again leave this site with little credibility. Not to say tossing out theories is a bad thing but when you have experience in how a forum works especially when both are using the same software... not so awesome..

It makes perfect sense. It is all a game of mathematics 154,596 x.01 (1%) is still roughly 1,545 people half of that is 772 people so approximately 6/10th of 1% of the members who have signed up (154,596) are viewing the forum which is about accurate. (by the way 6/10th of 1% also sounds like the number of people that succeed in MLM lol)
And I agree with you that many of the members who sign up are slash and dash posters with 706,854 posts divided by 154,596 members that brings the average member posting 4.5 posts per member. However this number may be skewed by posters like sojustask, SBM and others who have posted thousands of times over the years.
No matter how you look at it Scam.com (unless it goes offline) will ALWAYS be 6 years older than this site. its dedicated members who despite the fact that you can view the first and last posts have taken the extreme measures to go to the print preview page to view and read the threads (despite the fact that its tedious) that is why members are still posting on that site.

I do not support Scam.com but I am a realist.
Realscam will never compare to scam.com UNLESS scam.com goes offline which I believe with george at the helm is very likely.

I beg to differ. First off an edited CSS template takes affect instantly. Len was banned days before this problem emerged. "Zack" edited his "hook-up" ad links out of every other post a few hours before this problem occurred, this would be the same CSS template that's causing the problem. He was seen online just before the problem started, putting the Google ads in. Which posts are displaying properly? The first and last one on each page. Which posts are the Google ads in, the first and last one on each page. This is not a coincidence and it isn't hard to fix. (there, I said too much ;)
Quote:
However, see the last part of my post:-
No doubt. First this problem was entirely avoidable with just the most basic of precautions. Make a copy of the template your editing so you can change everything back if you screw up. And even if he can't figure it out himself you're right, he could go to the help site and even if someone doesn't fix his problem for free he could get it fixed in 20 minutes for $50. But that would cost him $50.

You're entirely correct, it IS highly unprofessional and counterproductive.
In fact, I would go as far as to say much of it is bloody repulsive and annoying in the extreme.
However, not all of the protagonists are in "the industry"
Which brings me back to my original point.
For those whose wish is to expose the "industry" for what it is and isn't, their "work" is being done for them.
After all, why keep a dog and bark yourself ???
If the Three Stooges and their compatriots want to recruit from the ranks of those impressed and/or swayed by that type of behavior, so be it.
Good luck to them.
