re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

The catastrophic implosion of the Richland Campus program continues. An administrator from CAED (Creative Arts, Entertainment & Design,) one of the seven schools of the now one unified Dallas College called me and as we were discussing the issues it became apparent he had no idea what goes on and couldn't even pronounce Derrick Logozzo's name. He insisted that Logozzo was no longer an administrator and has no authority.

The administrator admitted that he had no idea who Melissa Logan was. The new structure wiped out the Richland Dean Dr. Diane Do Nothing Hilbert and her Associate Dr. Caryn Voskuil. Adjuncts currently teaching weren't even informed that Dr. Hilbert and Dr. Voskuil were long gone and have no idea who is over them if they should need to go over Logozzo's head to get something actually accomplished. Melissa Logan saw the writing on the wall and bailed before the handful out of the armies of students she encouraged to get vocal performance degrees come back crying that they were billed out of state tuition and that their financial aid was exhausted. Not to mention most will find they would make more money working at McDonald's than pursuing vocal performance. If said administrator, who is over the CAED Performing Arts Dean Megan Abajian doesn't know who Logan was, then I assume that he has heard nothing about anyone being hired for the Richland Campus Choir position (that should be eliminated.) There is still no job listed on the Dallas College website.

    The job description for deans:
    Oversees and/or coordinates the
recruitment, hiring, coaching, mentoring and evaluation faculty and staff.
I doubt Logozzo still has the authority to hire and it is totally unethical that this choir job Logozzo claims is available has never been listed. The college proper and its CAED school is a complete disorganized mess!

Registration for fall started in April. We are getting down to the wire. In summer, the new regime started pulling zero and low enrollment class sections off of the schedule 10 days before registration closed. Registration for fall ends on August 18th. Serious students registered long ago. Dallas College has the finest, highly credentialed and experienced professors, but with this catastrophically low enrollment they can't afford to teach out here. Who is going to spend hours in the car to drive from Denton or Fort Worth etc. to teach for a half hour or 2 hours?

As pretty much everyone gets pushed to major in music and signed up for MUAP (lessons) and few community members participate these numbers spell disaster for any ensembles.

    Music Ensemble Enrollment:
    Big Band Jazz 9
    Jazz Combo 1
    Jazz Combo 1
    Guitar Ensemble 0
    Steel Band 7
    String Orchestra (1) 8
    String Orch. (2) 7
    Symphonic Winds 11
    Choir 6
    Jazz Improv 1
    Woodwinds/Percussion 3
    Fake Theory Audiation 0
    Chamber Brass 0
    Audio Recording Tech 0
    Chamber Strings 8
    Composition 0
    Jazz Singers 3
    Fusion 1
    _________
    66

I am 3 of those 66 ensemble and 3 of the MUAP (lesson) enrollments. Many of these groups will not make. So, where are the 20 performing groups that Logozzo promised???

And we have had bragging, but Derrick Logozzo has not provided the names and amounts of any awards beyond the 4 Berding $500 1 time awards and the incredible percussion student that has a renewable scholarship to Berklee in Boston. 400-600 music enrollments as Derrick Logozzo claims should = a lot more than a handful / dozen or so graduates and only 5 or so Bachelor's degrees earned per year in music.

Dallas College Jobs still has no listing for a full-time music faculty member or music adjunct to replace disgraced choir director and rogue advisor Melissa Logan. Is Dallas College going to do the obvious and eliminate the position and send the 6 choir registrants to the real choral programs at Brookhaven and Eastfield?

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

No advisor should ever be able to fill their own class chairs. In the last hour 1 student was added to a music theory class. Derrick Logozzo got 2 registrations for his own private lessons (MUAP: Percussion & Drum Set.) And all 3 of his personal ensembles (Big Band Jazz, Steel Band, Wind Symphony) jumped by 1 registrant. Most likely that one theory student that is now his latest advising victim and is filling those spots.

None of the other bands and combos are getting any sign-ups at all and none of those many other groups have drummers. All of the students are under Logozzo's thumb and he is single-handedly destroying the program.

Vice President Donna Walker wrote in August 2019:
Concern: Derrick Logozzo is registering students in excessive hours in music ensembles.

      • Response: Guided Pathway advisors are available to students to be advised for core classes and to register for their classes. Music coordinators are available to advise students for music classes. Guided Pathways advisors may register them, or students may register themselves for their courses. Music coordinators have been instructed to follow the Guided Pathway and may not require students to enroll in courses outside of the Guided Pathway. The Guided Pathway indicates that students are not required to enroll in more than 4 semester credit hours MUEN and 8 semester credit hours MUAP to complete that component of the Field of Study in Music. Should students choose to take additional courses, they have the option to enroll in continuing education sections of MUEN and MUAP and not accrue credit hours. Non-degree seeking students may enroll in credit or continuing education sections of music courses. Student enrollments will continue to be monitored to ensure alignment with the Guided Pathway.

    • Concern: It’s a conflict of interest to have the faculty advise students
    • Response: Music faculty are the content experts and will only advise students for music courses. Music faculty will not register students for music or core classes. Guided Pathway advisors will be available for students to be advised for core classes prior to enrolling in music classes. Students and Guided Pathway advisors will register students for music and core classes.
Concern: Students should be told that CE is an option
      • Response: Students have been informed that CE sections of music are an option if students wish to pay CE tuition as opposed to accruing credit hours. CE will set up notifications in the course schedule that concurrent sections of music classes are available on demand for student registration for fall 2019.

    • Concern: Music faculty should be using the degree plan for the four-year institutions to determine how many ensembles, private lessons, and music classes students should be enrolled in as well as following the guided pathways to the letter
    • Response: Students will be advised according to the Guided Pathway for the Field of Study in Music.
      • The Guided Pathway indicates that students are not required to enroll in more than 4 semester credit hours MUEN and 8 semester credit hours MUAP to complete that component of the Field of Study in Music. Should students choose to take additional courses, they have the option to enroll in continuing education sections of MUEN and MUAP and not accrue credit hours. Non-degree seeking students may enroll in credit or continuing education sections of music courses.

Derrick Logozzo has deliberately and flagrantly defied the administration since this was addressed by Vice President Donna Walker. The program continues to implode due to this horrific advising harming the students. Logozzo's claimed 400-600 enrollments = a handful of graduates and about 5 Bachelor's degrees earned a year by transfers.

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

Tuesday, August 3 Richland Summer Sounds Showcase Concert
Community Jazz Band, Jazz Combo, Chamber Ensembles & Soloists
    $10 Admission
    Fannin Performance Hall 7:30 p.m.

Ummmmm...... There is no Richland Jazz Combo or any Chamber groups except the lone string group that made this summer and the Community Band that has performed before, TI's EnerJazz is not scheduled. I was asked to perform by one of my incredible professors, but I have no desire to get tangled up with Logozzo and his mess. Don't pay $10!

The usual 50 spots in the fake pre-college theory (not on any degree plan, eats financial aid and rockets students toward out of state tuition) has a whopping 4 students. That is a tiny fraction of the usual enrollment from Derrick Logozzo and Melissa Logan's predatory advising program to make everyone a music major (soon the be forced into 100-161 credit hours of mostly music nonsense.) The real Music Theory I has 11 students in the 50 open spots. Music Theory 1 is usually stuffed to the gills as well.

As the degree plans were ordered to be followed and students can only transfer 4 ensemble credits (1 per semester for 4 terms fall / spring) and 8 MUAP private lessons in the same instrument, Derrick Logozzo can't keep forcing students into 4 ensembles per semester. There will be no way to get enough registrants for these groups to make. The predatory advising has blown up in Derrick Logozzo's face. Everyone that has been harmed is still waiting to hear how the college is going to cover the out of state tuition and exhausted financial aid for Logozzo's and Logan's advising victims.

As most of the community members have been run off and the paying parents are getting wise to the scam, the enrollment is abysmal. 15 students total in these theory classes dooms this program to collapse.

More slobbering over Melissa Logan who left as of July 7th. 20 students that are on a real degree plan and limited to 1 ensemble per semester aren't going to fill the 20 ensembles Logozzo promised. What happened to the 400-600 enrollmens in this two-year program we keep hearing about???

In Spring 2021 only 8 ensembles made. Those few students took lessons in the 64 MUAP (private lessons) listed and participated in the greatly reduced number of music classes. There were only 3 theory classses. Most of the alleged music students were in Music Appreciation which is a core class in the required 42 core class hours. It is not for music majors. When is this nonsensical bragging going to stop?

Registration has been going on since April and is ending soon. Of the mere 18 listed in the browsable schedule I am the only member of 3 of those ensembles ensembles. 5 other ensembles listed have no enrollees. Only 20 some odd new students is proof positive that the program is simply imploding!

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

I am one of the few watching the Summer Sounds Concert in progress.

Derrick Logozzo claims 15-20 Richland students transferring with over a million dollars over 2 years in scholarships at 4 year schools including
    Berklee and Baylor University.....

Many of these students have been there full-time for 3-4 years or more and all are way over hours. 100-161 is the norm for Logozzo's and Logan's predatory advising. At 150 hours (all Richland hours count) these students will be charged out of state / higher tuition which financial aid does not cover. At 180 hours they completely exhaust their financial aid.

At least one of the graduates failed and had to repeat music theory. 1 student with a myriad of theater and music hours not on any degree plan (that has been there for years and never graduated) went off to do vocal performance at Melissa Logan's Alma Mater, Midwestern.1 student is majoring in elementary music at my Alma Mater, Texas A & M Commerce. 2 are headed to UTA to major in vocal performance. Another student at Richland for 4 years is headed to Tarleton for vocal performance. 1 student is headed to UNT for vocal performance. Then we have the Berklee student who is the only named and verified scholarship recipient who will get $30,000.00 per year to finish his music Bachelor's in Boston. Several others are headed out to yet publicly unnamed schools. Many of these will never complete their Bachelor's we know from watching the abysmal numbers of the previous years. Most of the handful that transfer from Richland never finish a degree. And, students of this caliber that are way over hours could not possible have attained over a million dollars in scholarships for their final two years. Most are going to Texas universities close by that don't offer many if any scholarships in that range.

Again, why are these students and their scholarships not identified. The actual Bachelor's degree holders that started at Richland can be counted on one's fingers for every recent year.

That is some incredible math $500,000 (half of a million) for Junior year evenly split between these 20 alleged students = $25,000.00 per student. That half million for this coming school year averaged out between 15 students is $33,333.33 per student. I demand written documentation on these incredible never before seen scholarships!

The Texas colleges Richland students transfer to giving out 30 grand scholarships like Halloween candy and it is a secret????

We can’t connect to the server at www.dcccd.edu.edu.

    Try again later.
    Check your network connection.
If you are connected but behind a firewall, check that Firefox has permission to access the Web.

Logan is long gone and Logozzo has a disaster on his hands that he cannot manage! Total incompetence!

Those are the 5 schools where most of the students are actually going to transfer to. The Berklee student got a $30,000.00 a year renewable reward. Logozzo's number of 15 - 20 students getting $25,000.00 - $33,333.33 a year for two years (Junior and Senior years) is quite a tall tale. That means most of the students save the Baylor student got in excess of a full ride at their respective Texas colleges. That would be history making and all over the Richland Media and all the many local news stations in DFW. Let's have the documentation on this earth shattering record making event at little ol' Richland!

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

Those 5 Texas colleges with the cost of attendance shown above do have some $500 - $5,000 a year scholarships. It is highly competitive. There are very, very few students getting full rides. UNT has 1500 or so music students. UNT gives out about 200 scholarships totaling $900,000.00 per year. That is an average of around $4,500.00 per award. Many Richland students audition but can't even get in to the UNT or SMU Music Departments, much less get a penny in scholarship money. The other colleges in that group give out much smaller awards.

If Derrick Logozzo is going to make claims of his students wild success, it should be fully documented. Those students should have these incredible successes immortalized in the Richland Media and all the local news stations as this is unprecedented success!!!

Melissa Logan's last day was July 7th according to Derrick Logozzo. Why is there still no listing for a choir director for the Richland Campus? Why have the 6 students in the choir not been advised to register at another campus?

Derrick Logozzo's Guinness Book of World Record worthy claims:

    Kenny Rodgers Sage Advice:

The students, paying parents and taxpayers demand verifiable documentation on all these claims. What National accreditation? What are the names of the students, the colleges they are transferring to and exact scholarship award amounts of these 15-20 students with over 1 million in awards for the next two school years?

Fundamentals of Music Theory which is not a college level course (won't transfer, uses up financial aid and rockets students toward out of state tuition) has a paltry 4 students enrolled. Music Theory I is floundering with only 15 enrolled. Music Theory III has 20 enrolled.

All these numbers reflect students that may have not paid yet.

As pretty much everyone gets pushed to major in music and signed up for MUAP (lessons) and few community members participate, these numbers spell disaster for any ensembles.
I am 3 of those ensemble enrollments and 3 of the MUAP (lesson) enrollments. Many of these groups will not make. So, where are the 20 performing groups that Logozzo promised???

We have had bragging, but Derrick Logozzo has not provided the names and amounts of any awards beyond the 4 Berding $500 1 time awards and the incredible percussion student that has a renewable scholarship to Berklee in Boston. 400-600 music enrollments as Derrick Logozzo claims should = a lot more than a handful / dozen or so graduates and only 5 or so Bachelor's degrees earned per year in music. And, numbers at Richland that are exponentially higher than these!

Dr. Diane (Do Nothing) Hilbert and her sidekick, Dr. Caryn Vosquil got the boot in the disastrous, poorly planned re-organization shuffle in January 2021. Why is that Office location C-120 and old office number still listed? No musicians or dancers are going to get any help there.

Melissa Logan, the disgraced choir director, left (retired) over a month ago. Her last day was July 7th. Predatory Department Head Derrick Logozzo has yet to update the website, Facebook, Instagram or anything else. Why is contact information for an employee that left weeks ago still up on the college's website?

There is still no job listing for the choir director position on the website. The few students that are serious about doing choral music or vocal performance should go to Brookhaven or Eastfield today and register. There is clearly no one in charge and doing anything in regards to the imploding and totally disorganized Richland music program.

Help Us Prevent the Spread of COVID-19
We’re ready to welcome all of our students and instructors back to campus this fall. Our leadership team has been working hard to make our campuses safe, but we need your help.

To ensure the safety of our entire community, Dallas College is strongly encouraging anyone coming to a college location or event — even if you have been vaccinated — to wear a mask and to follow other basic safety steps like washing hands and avoiding large gatherings.

Learn more about Dallas College’s coronavirus response, including how you can get a free vaccination on our campuses or obtain emergency aid.

    Events

Get ready for having to stay masked while on campus. Judge Clay Jenkins has sued Governor Greg Abbott to stop his mandate that prevents masks being required. DISD is requiring masks against the Governor's mandate and other school districts are sure to follow.

Notice that the incredible $1,000,000.00 + in scholarships over the next two years to finish Bachelor's in Music that 15-20 Richland students were said to have received by our fearless leader Derrick Logozzo is not mentioned. 15-20 students receiving 25 -33 grand (average) in scholarships that are still secret???? I captured and sent the video clips with transcripts to the Richland Student Media and numerous other outlets. My heartiest congratulations to Juan Botero on his award to Berklee. Not one media outlet has covered this earth shattering record breaking 15-20 students who for the most part have full-rides. Must be very difficult to report on those other scholarships that have been grossly exaggerated or simply don't exist.

    Cons
In the past, you could work at a specific campus, be part of a team of instructors with whom you would collaborate . Scheduling was done by a Lead/Coordinator at each campus and it was a relatively smooth process. Now, one or two people do the scheduling for the entire district. They will schedule you for wherever they see fit, regardless of what or where you're willing to teach. It's absolute chaos. You will be given courses a week or two ahead of the start date through random campuses that you have no familiarity with that aren't built yet. You'll be given no contact information for that campus, no resources, no nothing. You might then go through all of the trouble of setting up the course only to be told by someone at that campus that you've done it wrong and you'll need to start over - and this is after the course has already begun. Uff. Communication is abysmal. The changes made by the take over of "Dallas College" have been nothing but headaches for everyone.

    Advice to Management
This is easy: To put it bluntly: YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! TURN THE SCHEDULING DUTIES BACK OVER TO THE INDIVIDUAL CAMPUSES!
It is totally chaotic and many adjuncts will have their classes cancelled after the semester has started. Many sections of classes across the board do not show what campus they are on, so registering is a complete nightmare.

Many MUAP, MUSI and MUEN offered have no chance of making and shouldn't have been offered. 235 sections of MUAP across the college are offered. Most have zero / 0 students. Why are these programs not being combined so that ensembles can make and adjuncts can have enough students to justify driving from Denton or Fort Worth?

The administration is clueless. There has been no melding into one college. It is just one much bigger mess than usual!

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

Derrick Logozzo's lies are going to bite him in the hiney! His incessant claims of 20 ensembles is pure fantasy. His predatory and gross mismanagement of the program has collapsed it.

We have a paltry 7 ensembles that are sure to make. Notice that Derrick Logozzo always loads his own ensembles to the detriment of the real professionals that teach at the college. The 3 in orange have very little chance of making. The 2 classes in red will be cancelled. Of course the braggart, Derrick Logozzo has heavy performance schedules posted that include these classes and the 6 that were nixed this morning.

Not true. They had to go through the process again due to the Dallas College transition. All is well.

The Richland Student Media is apparently nothing but stooges that parrot Derrick Logozzo and others to act as the advertising group for the college. Journalistic integrity has gone completely out the window. Dallas College / Richland has not been re-accredited as the list demonstrates.

re: Kilgore College Hires Derrick Logozzo (Dallas College / DCCCD Richland Music Advisor Out of State Tuition Scam)

State settles lawsuit filed by former VWCC nursing students | Archive | roanoke.com
The state has paid $2.4 million to settle a lawsuit brought by 73 former Virginia Western Community College nursing students who claimed they were misled after the college concealed that it had lost its national nursing accreditation.

The settlement, announced Monday by the plaintiffs' attorneys, comes nearly four and a half years after the lawsuit was first filed against the state and the college seeking about $23 million.

The students, all of whom were enrolled in Virginia Western's nursing program between 2005 and 2007, argued that the school failed to disclose that it was no longer accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. The students said by not having that mark of approval, it tainted their academic record, making it harder to find jobs or seek entrance into advanced degree nursing programs.

Because of the number of students involved in the case, the judge ordered that the plaintiffs be divided into four groups.

In June 2011, the first of the groups headed to trial. After nine days, the jury found in favor of the 16 students and awarded each $47,000 on the issue of fraud. Each student also was awarded $6,800 for breach of contract, except for one student who received $11,500.

The jury verdict "opened up the door to settlement negotiations," said John Fishwick, one of the lawyers for the plaintiffs, during a news conference announcing the settlement.....
Students Win Lawsuit Against Virginia Western Community College | WSET
Roanoke, VA - A lawsuit by 73 former nursing students from Virginia Western Community College has been settled after the college reportedly didn't keep the students up to date on its accreditation status.

Those students will get $2.4 million. The settlement comes just before two more trials against the school get underway.

Last year 16 plaintiffs launched the first of four trials against the school and won. That win opened the door for negotiations that led to this settlement.

Nursing students from 2005 to 2007 filed the suit and say they were misled by the school after Virginia Western lost a particular national accreditation.

Because the students weren't informed, they claimed breach of contract.V
Now the plaintiffs are celebrating because they don't have to go through three more trials against the school.

"I can speak for the folks from our side... when you have 73 people and three more trials and then the potential of appeal to the Virginia Supreme Court...very lengthy process," said John Fishwick, plaintiff's co-attorney....
Brown Mackie parent company will pay $95.5 million to settle suit

    Staff reports
    South Bend Tribune

....The government says the firm relied on deceptive recruiting tactics to sign up students it knew were unlikely to succeed or finish its programs....
Brown Mackie College Loan Forgiveness Options - Debt Strategists
Brown-Mackie College misled students about the cost of its programs and its graduates’ job prospects, said Tom Miller, the attorney general of Iowa, whose office helped lead the states’ investigation. In some cases, Brown-Mackie College charged students for vocational programs that lacked the accreditation needed for them to obtain a license and work in their field

    Brown-Mackie College Lawsuit

In 2015, EDMC, Brown-Mackie’s parent company, agreed to forgive more than $100.8 million in student loan debt held by more than 80,000 former students.
Lying about or concealing changes in accreditation status is fraud and breach of contract. Luring in students that are unlikely to succeed is clearly actionable as well.

Dallas College Richland Campus can't pass off its predatory music program as developmental. All credit classes including every single credit at Richland Campus eat up the state financial aid limit of 150 credit hours (out of state tuition charged at Texas state universities.) Federal financial aid is cut off at 180 credit hours and again every hour taken at Richland counts. So, Fundamentals of Theory and dozens of hours of music not on degree plans is total fraud. Students that are not college level and that could not gain admission to other 4 year college programs, should not be able to enter Richland Campus as music majors. That is Derrick Logozzo and Melissa Logan filling chairs to get Federal and state $$$$$$ into their disaster of a program. They have lied to students about out of state tuition and exhausting financial aid from the get go.

Music department gets NASM accreditation — Richland Student Media

    Music department gets NASM accreditation
January 18, 2018 The Richland College music department is now nationally recognized as one of the top music schools in the country. Richland received accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
Richland is the first new accreditation in Texas in the past 51 years and is now one of four two-year institutions in Texas to be nationally accredited by NASM.
NASM is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges and universities. It was founded in 1924 to ensure national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational and other music-related endeavors.
The accreditation is a result of five years of work. Richland was evaluated last year and narrowly missed out, but this year the music department made sure to fix all the issues after going through a rigorous application process.
Richland students during “Portraits of Night,” in the fall 2017 music department concert.

Department Chair Derrick Logozzo said, “The first three years, we had to apply, we had to go to some conference training [and] we had to bring in a person to come here from Philadelphia and say this is how you do it and we made some adjustments.”
“The freshman and sophomore years that a two-year college student goes through here in our music department according to NASM are equivalent in quality and quantity to the first two years of freshman/sophomore years of any student going to an accredited NASM four-year university.”
Ultimately, Logozzo said that Richland College “will have a bigger voice at the state level with our degree plans and going down to Austin and talking with any kind of congressional representatives because we have an accreditation that backs up what we are doing here on a daily basis.”
The Richland College Music Department offers band, choir, jazz, orchestra and steel band programs; training students and building base-level credentials in student musicians to be creative outlets and music professionals.
Richland College Music Department Receives National Association of Schools of Music Accreditation The Richland College music department recently received accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). This prestigious accreditation was announced at the NASM annual meeting in Arizona on Nov. 19.
“This accreditation means that the Richland College music program meets all the same standards for the first two years of music study as any four-year institution, making our transfers transparent,” said Diane Hilbert, executive dean of the Richland College School of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts. “It means that we now have a voice at the national table to participate in national and state concerns regarding music education and to work with our colleagues in planning for the future of music education and the needs of our students and the changing workforce they will enter.”
For the past four and a half years, the music faculty have been working through the process to be granted accreditation by NASM. At the NASM Annual Meeting, 312 applications for new and renewal accreditation were reviewed by the NASM Commission on Community College Accreditation. Richland College was one of only two two-year institutions in the United States that were approved for new accreditation, and the fourth two-year institution in Texas to be nationally accredited by NASM. Other Texas two-year institutions to receive this accreditation include Del Mar in 1948, Odessa College in 1964 and Amarillo College in 1966.
Before receiving this accreditation, Richland College completed a thorough application process. This involved Hilbert attending the American Association for Women in Community Colleges (AAWCC) Leaders Institute and completing a process map and budget project, inviting a NASM consultant to evaluate all aspects of the Richland College music program, completing a self-study, receiving a site visit from the accreditation team, responding to recommendations from the team and submitting recommendation updates to the commission.
“This would not have been possible if it had not been for our music faculty and our students’ commitment to the quality and growth of the music program,” said Hilbert. “Additionally, the process of the self-study enabled us to identify opportunities for improvement and to plan strategically for the future needs of the program.”
Founded in 1924, NASM is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges and universities with approximately 650 accredited institutional members. It works to establish national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for music and music-related disciplines, and to assist institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational or other music-related endeavors. For more information, visit nasm.arts-accredit.org.
The Richland College music department combines comprehensive academics, laboratory and ensemble work and applied instruction to prepare students for advanced musical study, build base-level credentials for working musicians and enrich general education for non-music majors. Programs offered include band, choir, jazz, orchestra and steel band. For more information about the Richland College music department, visit richlandcollege.edu/music.

Richland College had its NASM (National Association of Schools of Music) accreditation revoked.

Richland Student Media sent February 5
Not true. They had to go through the process again due to the Dallas College transition. All is well.
Richland Student Media flat out refuses to print a correction or remove these ridiculous stories, nor will they do any research to prove the accreditation is legitimate and prove me wrong. NASM does not list Dallas College or Richland anything and hasn't for months.

Derrick Logozzo states in writing and in recorded videos of Richland Concerts Richland Department of Music is Nationally Accredited. Again, this should be substantiated with the names of the accrediting organizations and the effective dates of said accreditation.

And lest we forget Derrick Logozzo claims 15-20 Richland students transferring with over a million dollars over 2 years in scholarships at 4 year schools... That is $25,000.00 to $33,333.33 average per student for their junior and senior years at real schools.

Dallas College and Derrick Logozzo will substantiate all these claims in writing or I will be more than happy to see them in court. I not only have a Bachelor's in Music from Texas A & M Commerce and hours toward two Master's Degrees there, but Richland Campus awarded me two Associate's Degrees in December 2020 (Field of Study in Music and Liberal Arts.) I have been in court numerous times with scammers galore. Discovery will clear all this up.

Under Derrick Logozzo's total mismanagement and predatory advising the program has simply collapsed.

All the Dallas College webpages still show contact information for Melissa Logan, the disgraced choir director and advisor for vocalists who has been gone since July 7th. The job of choral director has never been advertised and apparently has never been filled. From 5 choirs with well over 100 singers (50 members in the large choir,) Richland now has 7 registrants in the large choir and a mere 5 in the Jazz Singers joke of an ensemble. Who knows if they have or will pay by midnight on August 17th and actually stay in those groups.

Most of the instrumental groups have been eliminated. Richland doesn't have any Bassoon, Clarinet, Baritone or Double Bass players in lessons at this time. The Flute, Oboe, French Horn, Trombone and Tuba players are all lone members of their sections. The numbers are catastrophically low across the board.

We still await the documentation on the alleged "National accreditation" and or NASM (National Association of Schools of Music) accreditation as well at the media coverage of the 15-20 May 2021 music graduates with over $1,000,000.00 in scholarships over the next two years to complete their Bachelor's Degrees. That averages out to an amazing $25,000.00 - $33,333,33.00 per student for their junior and senior years at as yet mostly mysteriously unnamed universities across the entire country. Can't wait for all that exciting documentation that is forthcoming.

Derrick Logozzo's 20 ensembles is total fantasy as has been for years. The powers that be chopped more and only 10 remain available. Generally, if there aren't at least 10 chairs filled, the ensemble will eventually get cancelled. Many semesters students have walked into class only to find out that the ensemble they enrolled in has been cancelled. Several days into class is weeks too late for that as it is impossible to make needed schedule changes at that point.

We still have had no announcement concerning the choral director(s) either. A totally chaotic mess as usual.
