re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

Pastor Scott Wooddell, a paid employee of the church mind you, is so desperate to keep getting a paycheck from this collapsing church that he is running straight into the ground that he had his own grandson write the following review. During the almost two years I was there I only saw the 2 boys in the sanctuary for the Sunday service occasionally. They never participated in the music ministry in any way while I was there either.

The traditional music has tragically been tossed to the side as the incompetent Music Director, Jerry Cornish, has no sacred music, choral or organ background as the job clearly requires. What some might call contemporary is just plain bad, train wrecked garbage. The senior choir can't do Christian pop off the radio without the congregation needing barf bags to make it simple though Cornish can't see that. So, for the many that really enjoyed the wonderful music they had for years under the organist of 25 years, Dr. Porter, Randal Horton and Keith, it is nothing but a fading memory.

What would this young kid know about the music? Paid employees' family members do not constitute unbiased and trustworthy reviewers in any case. How low is this lying pastor going to go? Fake reviews for a church? What is the world coming to?

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

A real church choir with a real director where a large number of former Eastridge park Christian folks are said to attend. The youth choir is a huge and gorgeous sounding choir. And, they have a world class organist and not the oodling and noodling pop crap stylings of Jerry Cornish. It is time to send Jerry Cornish and Pastor Scott packing and have excellence in music and a real sacred service once again.

    Excellence In Music

Excellence flows throughout the fabric of Wilshire’s life. In worship, music is not something only a few gifted people do; it’s an expression of joy for the entire congregation as we sing together great hymns of the faith old and new. The music ministry also offers choirs, ensembles and opportunities for every age grouping, from preschoolers to senior adults.

Sanctuary Choir is the adult choir that leads in weekly Sunday morning worship and presents three or four special programs each year. This choir is open to any interested adult, with rehearsals on Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Choral Hall. Contact Doug Haney for more information.
Nova is an auditioned adult ensemble focusing on music of the renaissance. Contact Doug Haney.
New Song is the senior adult community choir that meets on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. It is open to any interested adult age 60 or older and draws many participants from beyond Wilshire’s membership. Find out more. Contact Sarah Stafford.
Wilshire’s Youth Choir is one of the strongest in the region and brings together students from more than 15 area schools in grades seven through 12. The 65-voice choir rehearses on Sunday afternoons, sings monthly in morning worship and embarks upon an annual concert and mission tour every June. Students in grades nine through 12 are invited to audition for the select youth ensemble called Shekinah. Contact Jeff Brummel for more information.

Preschoolers and children alike find age-appropriate training in music on Wednesday nights during the school year. All children ages 3 yrs to 6th grade are invited to Music & Missions, beginning at 6 p.m. These groups range from the simplest preschool music to more complex productions by older elementary children. Grade-school children are invited to participate in MusiCamp every summer, learning and performing a musical in one week. Contact Sarah Stafford for more information.
Wilshire Wind Symphony is an all-volunteer ensemble made up of doctors, lawyers, teachers, nurses, salespersons, accountants, students and more—all with a love for continuing to play woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. No audition necessary--all skill levels welcome. In addition to weekly rehearsals on Monday nights at 7 p.m. in Choral Hall, Wilshire Winds plays in worship generally the second Sunday of each month and produces one or two major concerts a year. Contact interim director Shana Cox for more information.
Carillon Ringers is our adult handbell choir. Playing up to seven octaves of handbells, this group rehearses weekly and plays monthly in morning worship. Contact Sarah Stafford for more information.
    Wilshire Academy of Fine Arts

Wilshire Academy of Fine Arts is the place for formal training in piano, organ, guitar and voice, with access to well-qualified private instructors. Wilshire has a relationship with East Dallas Children’s Music, which offers Musikgarten classes in our building under the umbrella of the fine arts academy.
For information about the Wilshire Academy of Fine Arts, contact Jeff Brummel: (214) 452-3122.

    Doug Haney
    Minister of Music | 214-452-3123
Doug joined Wilshire’s staff as minister of music in July 2004. He came to Wilshire from Providence Baptist Church in Charlotte , North Carolina, where he was minister of music. At Wilshire, he directs the choral program and supervises the church-wide music ministry, with major responsibilities for worship. Wilshire’s 80-voice Sanctuary Choir has recorded three CDs under Doug’s leadership: “Carols We Love”; “The Journey Home” with Cynthia Clawson; and "Prayers We Love." He has led the 60-voice Youth Choir on annual mission choir tours, with recent destinations including the Dominican Republic, Boston, Memphis, New Mexico, Chicago, New Orleans and Albuquerque. His previous experience includes roles as minister of music at First Baptist Church of Meridian, Mississippi; Hillcrest Baptist Church of Mobile, Alabama; and First Baptist Church of Buford, Georgia. He earned the bachelor of music degree (1980) from Georgia State University and the master of music degree (1983) from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Doug’s passions include excellence in conducting and music ministry with youth. He is a gifted pianist and soloist as well as conductor. He also is a lifelong learner, with a particular interest in the life of ministry. Doug and his wife, Lori, have been married since 1980 and have two adult children and two grandsons.

The video is a live performance from the tour of Five Stone's Music Minister, Noah James:
    https://www.facebook.com/johnny.walt...=2&theater

The music is totally contemporary, but they have a real singer with a real professional band. Not the pop crap stylings of Jerry Cornish with the senior citizen singers and the Russian volunteered band (Cornish's teenaged daughter and two former piano students.) The congregation wasn't blindedsided by any change and forced to endure just plain bad as Eastridge's congregation was. Jerry Cornish was supposed to introduce some contemporary to take the beautiful traditional service and jazz it up to draw in a younger crowd. The result was to alienate the existing members with no increase in younger members and to cause the numbers to continue to plummet. The Five Stone Church has a music minister that is making his mark touring and building a wonderful reputation for the church.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

Andy Jeffers · Actually, Jerry's family attends Eastridge. And all of this false information and half truths is hurting "this precious little church". Enough already!!! Get a life!!!

Heather Dawne Dobrott His family goes to their home church on Sunday night and Wednesdays and only recently started attending on Sunday morning because Cornish kept insisting. Cornish's daughters were playing in the summer kids band and I worked with the kids. They complained that EPCC was not their church and it was very clear they didn't want to be there. I am not the only one who has noticed. When Jerry went on vacation and I conducted last fall he was at his home church to see his daughters get awards for their ministry work there. He complained at my daughter's piano lessons in his home that a family should worship together for months. His family is emotionally and financially invested in their home church. He is at Eastridge for a paycheck. Brad Eames brought him in knowing he hadn't worked with a choir or organist at the church where he met him. The choir was not included in the decision and as so many have left we can see how they felt about hiring someone totally unqualified to do the job. Cornish promised to learn from the organist of 25 years and to study and go to clinics to learn. He has done nothing. He can't sing, can't teach proper vocal technique, doesn't know anything about good choral sound or diction, has no sacred music background, no organ background and won't listen to anyone who does know about these things. His arrogance and unwillingness to work with other music professionals has destroyed the music ministry plain and simple.

Today was the annual North Texas District Girls Ministries Celebration. Congratulations to all our girls who worked so hard.
Members of Eastridge Park Christian Church are apparently just now realizing after 3 hideously awful years of music that their Music Minster, Jerry Cornish is a tithing member and emotionally connected to another church. Is it any wonder the Music ministry is collapsing and the church is dying with paid staff such as this?

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

The video from Facebook has to be seen to be believed. Even that fantastic string group could not cover up the hideously awful choral singing. Please note I blame the incompetent director Jerry Cornish and not the incredibly talented and kind choir members who are victims of this now collapsing music ministry. Compare that to the wonderful videos from the choir just years ago and the neighboring churches showcased here which Eastridge Park Christian Church members are fleeing to shown in the previous posts.

Here is Cornish's oldest daughter, 18, back at her home church this year. She hasn't even graduated high school, but she has a boyfriend and has moved out of her father's house.

And, more pictures of Jerry Cornish's family at their real church and this is in July a full 2 and a half years after he came in to wreck the EPCC music. Notice his wife and kids smiling in numerous photos. His poor wife doesn't look miserable and isn't sitting alone during one of Jerry's musical disasters with her eyes closed and waving her arms in the air while the rest of the congregation just looks on at his latest nonsense with disdain and confusion. Please send Cornish back to his home church and bring in someone who can give Eastridge Park the kind of music it has had and deserves.

Church members don't need to give anonymous reviews. So a fake review and then the narcissistic leadership that wants no questions asked and to have zero accountability pats themselves on the back again. Many have noted to me that the church leadership was very caring when Bro. Dan Carroll and the many other great leaders were there that have since left. Not anymore! Disgusting!

Interesting that the church's abusive, dishonest and corrupt leadership only responded to 1 review, when in fact the other glowing review is from an actual member. Looks like someone is paying for SEO help or fake reviews. Only 5 people are paid members of the leadership as the church has pretty much collapsed. Hmmmmm... Who would have incentive to do this dirty work? The pastor and his wife are two of the 5 paid employees. The incompetent Music Minister, Jerry Cornish, is only part time and always complains that he has no money and the other fine office lady and youth pastor I can't picture stopping that low.

Now, why have I pegged this as a fake review? Well, let's look at all 7 reviews made by this Google user. All have been made in the past 3 weeks:

Google User really REALLY gets around. First it purchased a car in Killeen, TX. Then the next week it drove 172 miles to buy another car in Carrollton, TX. Fido (otherwise known as Echo had to go all the way to Amarillo, TX to get care. That is 349 miles from Carrollton and way over 5 hours of hard driving. College Station where the A & M veterinary school is located is just two hours from Killeen, so who would drive hundreds of miles north to Amarillo? From there this person who just bought two cars and drove across the state ends up in Katy, TX at the driving school. That driving school is 593 miles and 9 hours from the vet's office in Amarillo. It is a long drive to driving school. LOL!!! After doing fabulous in driving school, Google User makes a long trip up north again to Plano, TX. That is a whopping 275 miles and 4 hours from the driving school.

But, wait.... our Google User must actually live in Cedar Park, TX just outside of Austin as the kiddos go to Little Acorn Academy there regularly. And, this prolific driver is attending Eastridge Park Christian Church which is 194 miles and 3 hours away from Cedar Park, TX. Google User must be borrowing my time travel broomstick.

Looks to me like Pastor, Pastor Pants on Fire, Dr. Scott Wooddell has some explaining to do!

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

Its TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) convention time. Jerry Cornish, the Music Minister that is destroying the music ministry at Eastridge Park Christian Church, is totally unqualified as he has zero vocal or choral training. As he promised the church that he would rectify that he should be spending this Wednesday through Sunday doing all the sessions there. Then he should choose a college to attend to get the classes he needs such as voice lessons, choirs, diction, choral conducting and more so he can safely and effectively lead the church choir. This lying, incompetent clown stated in his own evaluations that he was going to do those things for the church. But,it was all lies to appease those who were catching on to the fact he is all ego and no real skills.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

    Merry Miller

    · January 21, 2010 ·
I am playing a free concert this Sunday January 24th at 5pm at Eastridge Park Christian Church in Mesquite, Texas with legendary violinist Gary Levinson. Please try to attend!

Before the pop crap stylings of Jerry Cornish and that idiot Pastor Scott came in, Eastridge Park Christian Church had the most talented and well respected performers in Dallas coming in. I know Merry from my days at Richland college and she is an extraordinary player. That is the kind of excellence the church had and could have again if the needed changes will be made before it completely collapses.

When will Cornish and Scott, who have been instrumental in dividing this church and running off longtime members, finally be shown the door? The music ministry and abusive and dishonest dealings by the leadership are not in any way Christian or acceptable. I have talked to many who remember Eastridge Park as having some of the best music in the area. Now, it is a laughingstock and musicians in the area want to steer clear of this joke of a music ministry and church.

Incompetent Music Director, Jerry Cornish, now has his own page on Facebook. These tend to Google up beautifully!

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

Music Director Jerry Cornish's high school age daughter moved out before graduating and is now engaged before even finishing high school. I don't think he is in any position to be ministering to anybody when his home life is such a disaster. Does the church encourage 18 year olds still in high school to get engaged?

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

The church continues to spiral downhill. The financial situation is so desperate that needed repair and replacement of appliances isn't covered by the budget. So many have left in disgust and still the leadership does not seem willing to dialogue with us.

The church can't afford even a part-time organist and is now trying to drag in substitute players every week in order to save money. So, in addition to the incompetent fool in charge of the music ministry that has no choral, vocal, organ or sacred music background, they have no organist that can be an integral and trusted member of the music ministry.

The collapse of this little church continues as the voices of those in the congregation are silenced by the abusive and dishonest leadership.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

Pastor Scott is still using his grandson as a reviewer in a desperate attempt to salvage the online reputation of himself and the church that he has run into the ground. Why the members allow this buffoon of a pastor who has not done what was promised when he was hired and his incompetent sidekick of a music minister to continue to be on the paid staff mystifies me and many others.

Pastor Gilroy is fantastic. The question is how long he will continue to serve in a church where others in the leadership are so dishonest and manipulative. How can this church survive when its own leadership simply cannot be trusted?

My faith has grown in the six years I have been a member of Eastridge Park Christian Church. I love this church, it's leadership and people. I had the opportunity to accompany the youth on a trip to see a life size replica of Noah's ark. My faith was encouraged as I walked through this amazing boat as Pastor Scott and Pastor Gilroy taught us about faith and obedience. And the ministry this church has in the community speaks volumes of its heart for people!!

The still empty pews tell the story. Who would not want to be close to that incredible string ensemble that came in for Easter?

"I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive."

    Romans 16: 17-18

The church is being destroyed by the two faced music minister and dishonest leadership. The fine man that is caring for the church's organ and tuning the piano recommended that Music Minister, Jerry Cornish, invite some real musicians to perform in the church using the piano and organ for an incredible classical concert. One of the performers teaches at the local college and happens to be my daughter's professor. That is one of the professors that had recommended that my daughter leave Cornish's studio I must add.

Jerry Cornish and the president of the church board, Dr. Brad Eames have both made it clear that they do not have any desire to keep the organ in use and conspired to run off the Doctoral organ candidate and presumably Eames also helped to run off all the other fine organist that have served including the organist of over 20 years. Eames has opined that he doesn't appreciate classical music. He is the one responsible for the crap pop stylings of Jerry Cornish being brought into that church that had had a wonderful traditional service filled with great music for decades. Cornish has managed to run off more than half the choir and members of the congregation in the past three torturous, long years.

So, why did the two faced clowns agree to host a classical concert? Well, Cornish and the pastor are desperate for a paycheck and at this point will do anything to try and stop the mass exodus that they have caused I presume. Eames, his obnoxious wife and other family members sat several pews behind me for the classical concert. I smiled back at them numerous times and that nut bailed before the concert had ended.

Cornish is such a complete nut that even after our families acrimonious departure from that abusive church he kept trying to grab me and hug me when I came to the concert to support my daughters professor. I made it clear I wanted no contact with him and ducked away. He persisted after the concert to chase my daughter and I out peppering her with questions and acting like they have a good relationship. He defrauded us out of 5 grand for jazz piano lessons when he in fact had no credentials or background in jazz. Her professors at Richland have noted the complete lack of proper jazz training and advised she leave his studio. He totally violated her trust, has caused her endless embarrassment and what will be a fortune in extra semesters of lessons to make up for what he was paid to do and couldn't. Cornish is a total fraud and we have filed complaints with the BBB and are considering litigation. Of course litigation against a pauper will just cost us more time and money than the thousands we have lost to this creep.

The church is in such disrepair that it is a complete embarrassment. Word is out in the music community and the fantastic concerts will be hosted elsewhere in the future. The church retaining this fraud of a music minister will see the continuation of the mass exodus. Not to mention some don't want to be mauled by this guy when they come in the door. When is the church going to get that creepy guy out of there for good?

Stephanie Edgar5 starI have loved being a part of Eastridge! I felt welcomed by all right away! Pastor Scott Wooddell preaches the Word of God faithfully! I had the opportunity to sing in the choir and Jerry Cornish is a delight! He is very patient and caring! I love that we sing songs with great theology that proclaim the Gospel of Christ! The church really cares about the community and serves in a number of ways. Gilroy Martinez leads the young people with enthusiasm and passion for God!! It has been a HUGE blessing to be a part of this family of faith!!

Heather Dawne Dobrott Is your husband an intern with the Dallas Theological Seminary? Is he paid? Will your family stay in this dying church later if they can't afford to pay him? Would your family be there if it wasn't for the internship? Have you taken the time to really ask the members the hard questions and ascertain why the place is imploding?
The intern's wife who was so vociferously defending that abusive dump of a church has fallen silent. Turns out that her family didn't just come in off of the street and fall in love with the place. $$$ are talking yet again???

Church members are now seeing this crap on Jerry Cornish's Facebook page. What professional musician would post crap like this? He has completely destroyed Eastridge Park's music ministry and turned them into a laughing stock. What is he imbibing to get through this garbage? The members need a shot to get through the horrific pop crap and totally unprepared music inflicted upon them in the services which is even worse.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

    Dear friends,
Do not miss our concert this week at the Park Christian Community Church in Mesquite. In the program works by Schubert, Rachmaninov, Chopin, Mozart and Improvisations by Prof. ^&(* on the organ. Admission is free.

Address - 2701 N. TOWN EAST BLVD MESQUITE, TX 75150
Jerry Cornish, the dishonest buffoon of a music minister, lured in a local college professor and her musical partner to perform at the church on a Saturday. Cornish promised a large audience and professional courtesy. Cornish didn't even bother to announce the concert on his Facebook page, the church's Facebook page, the church's website or anywhere else I can find. Telling the 80 or so elderly people who come to their home church from all over the Metroplex is not going to fill that sanctuary.

Cornish is a liar and total fraud. The church has laughingly changed its name, but the signs around the church, website and Facebook page don't reflect this silly new name that was supposed to revitalize this dying church. The dishonesty and incompetence of the music minister and pastor have destroyed this once loving and thriving church. After all the schmoozing and promises, Cornish only got a piddling 25 people to come to this concert given by the finest of professionals. Degreed musicians such as myself will have nothing to do with this fraud, Jerry Cornish.
