All the teachers we have worked with over the years save 1 have been 5 stars all the way. All it takes, however, is one bad apple to tip the cart. Jerry Cornish of Creek Crossing Music Studio has fraudulently passed himself off as competent to teach jazz piano, lead choirs and versed in sacred music. Nothing could be further from the truth.

    The Code of Ethics states:
    "Commitment to Students:
The teacher shall respect the student's right to obtain instruction from the teacher of his or her choice.
    Commitment to Society
The teacher shall accurately represent his/her professional qualifications.
The teacher shall strive for continued growth in professional competencies."
The president of the association Jerry Cornish is involved in sent us to him specifically for jazz piano instruction as that person knew that was not in their own area of expertise.
    "Code of Ethics
Adopted December 2003; Revised May 2013
The principles and aspirations found in the Code of Ethics are not conditions of membership, but are goals and ideals that each MTNA member should strive to make an essential part of his or her professional commitment to students, to colleagues and to society."
The Code of Ethics apparently has no teeth whatsoever and those defrauded by unscrupulous and self-aggrandizing music teachers have no recourse with the association. These rogue teachers reflect badly on all of us in the profession and must be held accountable.

    Texas Music Teachers Association
    Organization

Please find following the review I gave Creek Crossing Music Studio:

Jerry Cornish was hired specifically to teach my then high school and now college student daughter jazz piano. He said he was qualified to teach jazz when nothing could be farther from the truth. My daughter is now playing in a group at Richland College. The professors there (who all hold Master's Degrees) had plenty to say about the total lack of instruction from Mr. Cornish. We are out over $5,000.00 and she is now struggling. She has had no proper jazz instruction whatsoever. Mr. Cornish fraudulently misrepresented his areas of expertise. Him relying on Youtube videos of jazz pieces instead of being able to realize the lead sheets is beyond ridiculous. We placed our trust in the wrong teacher.
In response to Jerry Cornish's reply I answered:

We were with another teacher and very happy. That teacher was classically trained and recommended we go to someone who could offer jazz instruction as that was a pressing need. We were given three names. The first one was a wonderful teacher that we spoke with that was very busy and didn't get back to us in time to about take her for jazz instruction, so we ended up with Mr. Cornish. We would have never switched teachers or driven so many miles if we hadn't had to switch to get qualified jazz instruction. Mr. Cornish was never hired for "general lessons." She didn't "agree to study jazz at Richland" either. She was in the high school jazz band needing help and Mr. Cornish was also to prepare her for college level auditions into the jazz groups. So, as I originally said we came to him specifically for jazz instruction and he did not and could not provide that.

    These texts say it all:

I wrote: We have a huge mess on our hands. As you know, Richland is hoping they will have a spot for a second hour a week with the jazz piano teacher, Brad Williams in the spring. Right now all they could do was to recommend a book and Russian volunteer a student to help her. The professors have noticed that she has been taught no jazz techniques and told her not to go back to your studio.

Jerry Cornish answered: Yikes! Lately we’ve been working on the Christmas music and the scales. She’s welcome to come in for more that if you would like.

Student wrote: The jazz band teacher had to pull me out of class on Monday and take me into a practice room to go over the pieces because I’m struggling so much. My private lesson teacher had instructed me to not go back to your studio. The jazz band teacher also doesn’t want you helping me. My instructors quizzed me and they didn’t feel I had any jazz instruction and they didn’t understand why you were pulling stuff up on YouTube and not just sight reading the music off the page. They also felt the church music was inappropriate and they asked me to stop.

Jerry Cornish answered: So excited for you! High school jazz is kind of dipping your toe in the water, but now it sounds like you’re going to jump all in! Where as we work piece by piece here so you would feel comfortable with your jazz band pieces, now you’re going to be a real hip jazz player.
It’s standard to not have two teachers for one piece, and now that you’re in to the Jazz department, you should definitely stick with that program exclusively.
You are in the big kid world now and I feel that you’re totally up to it!

I responded: Her high school performed at close to a professional level with the Dallas Jazz Orchestra and the like. These kids were competing for scholarships.
I also included the incredibly overqualified organist's resignation letter to this defunct church in my review of the Texas Music Teachers Association and its rogue member:

I have this idea in mind where a section sits in a horseshoe shape so they can hear each other. And the horse shoes are close to each other so that we end up looking kind of like a flower . Each horse shoe is the pedal of a flower and we have a four petaled flower. Maybe a four leaf clover. 🍀 In the end we hear each other in our section best, but because of our shoe is open to the others, we hear them too.

Does that make any sense? Does it sound like a good idea? I'm not sure how we would pull it off, but it just seems like a great idea to me. I appreciate your input on these issues because I know you know what you're talking about.

When our piano accompaniment was getting weaker, I heard you sing out stronger. I appreciate you doing that. I finally realized that I should be using your pitch as the basis to find my pitch instead of trying to find it based on - well I don't know what I was using. But I was struggling. And by that time it was the end of the song. Thanks for helping us keep on pitch.

    Jerry

The videos on Vimeo are plugged on the church's website and Twitter and still dead as a door-nail. This imploding church isn't reaching anyone.

From the Facebook page that was removed after my posting Pastor Scott's mass lie-filled e-mail about me and the truthful comments that followed:
    Eastridge Park Christian Church

    January 30, 2012 ·

Welcome, Dr. Scott Wooddell, new Senior Pastor, to Eastridge Park Christian Church! We look forward to seeing what God has in store for our wonderful church through your leadership. May God richly bless you and your family!

Pastor Scott's leadership and support of the lying, gay bashing, abusive and incompetent Music Minister, Jerry Cornish is sinking the SS Satanic in record time:

It is time for some clear heads to look at the numbers of members and donations and take the difficult steps necessary to save that little church. In the 6 years that Pastor Scott Wooddell has been at the helm, the ship has taken on enough water that it is close to sinking. The change of direction that Pastor Scott, Dr. Brad Eames and a few others have directed, including bringing in Jerry Cornish has been a complete disaster. It is God's choir and His church and obviously as they feared Satan is attacking the church. But, it is not through me and the many wonderful members that have left. The leadership is sinking the SS Satanic and a new pastor and music minister need to be found now!

    continued:

Eastridge is a cliquish mess with abusive and dishonest leadership that is quick to attack anyone who comes forward with a concern, legitimate problem or opinion they don't like. Then as the numbers are tumbling below 200 members in this hostile and unwelcoming environment they seemed surprised. Clearly, the effectiveness of the ministry is not being evaluated and no corrective measures are being taken in that abusive and dishonest environment. The church is collapsing likely to the point of no return.

The twitter account is completely dead. These videos are no longer available and the current ones are not getting views. Pastor Scott Wooddell has run that church into the ground. It is about time for an autopsy on Eastridge Park. I have been talking to numerous longtime members and folks that have left. The Music Minister, Jerry Cornish, most feel must go immediately and many are ready to seek out a new pastor in a desperate effort to save the church. So many were absolutely horrified that Pastor Scott publicly attacked me for my giving (especially when Jerry Cornish and most of the choir and many other congregants watched me place my envelope in the plate before the service every Sunday without fail as being in the music ministry meant we might miss the offertory) and they know the Pastor is lying and completely out of line. Many do not want Edith Smith handling the money. They believe their offering is between them and the Lord and do not like that information being used to harass and attack people.

Pastor Scott's revival of the church that began in 2012 has resulted in that church simply collapsing. Dr. Porter, a beloved Music Minister, left as he would not go in a new direction Pastor Scott was babbling about and introduce crap pop music as Jerry Cornish has done. His departure really hurt the music ministry and church as a whole. Once Cornish came in and the new direction was put in place many more left and the organist of 25 years bailed. The implosion has continued to the point the church is in dire straights financially and the buildings are in very poor condition.

Bad music and buildings in disrepair will send people running. Drastic measures must be taken if they wish to keep their doors open. It is high time this precious congregation be allowed to speak their minds without fear of the retaliation and abuse that I and others have suffered. That is the most unhappy and unwelcoming place. There are few left, but among them are some who are fed up with the nonsense going on and ready to see change. I promised them I would fight to get Jerry Cornish and Pastor Scott out so that the church could find new, competent leadership and actually see that revitalization that they were promised and deserve.

Heather said she was leaving the church if Joy resigned. Joy resigned over a week ago. Heather has left the church, yet continues sending emails. She is not a member and never gave financially to EPCC. She has no vested interest in the well being of our church. Her divisive, demeaning and derogatory comments are contrary to our Christian faith. Our faith teaches us to love, support, and encourage each other and strive for unity, Hopefully we can put this behind us and move forward serving the Lord together.
The Scriptures speak directly to this in Ephesians 6:10-18.

Oh dear, Pastor Pastor Pants on Fire!!!

The church has no online giving option. I gave cash every week in an envelope. Jerry Cornish, who asked me to come in and help the music ministry in February 2016, numerous choir members and congregants watched me place my offering in the plate outside the door near the choir loft every Sunday. As music was performed during the offertory and the choir exited during that time, I always placed my offering in the plate before the service without fail. I had to go into the sanctuary and get an envelope and was always seen by numerous people.

For Edith Smith to be handling the finances and for that information to be used by Pastor Scott to publicly harass and attack people is beyond inappropriate and downright despicable. For Pastor Scott to lie about potential members and dismiss their loving attachment to and work in the church tells me it is high time he resign or be replaced as he is not able to shepherd this flock effectively. The numbers have continued to plummet under his leadership. The congregation is uncomfortable and with Jerry Cornish’s antics being divided. The unity is gone. The pastor and Cornish are the divisive forces in that precious church.

I didn't join because of Jerry Cornish. I watched him run off the organist of 25 years and saw the music ministry collapsing under his incompetent leadership. I am one of many offended by the very inappropriate things being said by him.

The music ministry is a disaster and I made it clear that if Cornish ran off yet another highly qualified organist with his antics that I would leave arm and arm with them. I participated in every music group at Cornish’s request as he didn't have enough people left to fill the spots and was desperate. I sacrificed a great deal of time arranging music and advising that clown as he was asking for help. I purchased and donated sets of music for the choir. I assisted with all the youth worship band practices throughout even though my own child was too ill to attend. I organized the party for a departing choir member and donated and helped with all the activities I possibly could. I took meals and gave rides to church members in need and continue to do so to this day.

I am not working because I have two kids at home with serious medical issues and don't have that option. My son is tube fed with only 1 safe food. He has never been well enough to attend school. He also has an allergy to peanuts and we are very afraid to take him out as he has had life threatening reactions to them. My daughter also has GI issues and has missed so much school that she was unable to graduate. I have my hands very full at home.

I spent the time to get to know and trust the youth minister. Knowing the challenge it would be to keep my kids safe, he welcomed them into his group with open arms. He is the best thing that has ever happened to that church. But, with the lies, inappropriate talk and abusive behavior from the Senior Pastor Scott and Jerry Cornish, I doubt this fine young man will be around for long. I can’t say enough wonderful things about him.

I followed the proper protocol to get help with my concerns. I did everything possible to help the music minister, but it became painfully apparent that the music ministry was falling apart. Cornish is not able to do the job as he has no choral, vocal, sacred or organ background. Putting Cornish over the organist of then over two decades was inappropriate and totally unworkable. To hire someone that is said to have insisted on being put in charge should never have happened. To think the organist could train him to handle a choir when he couldn't sing and had no choral background was a recipe for disaster.

Cornish reportedly promised that if what he was doing wasn't working that he would change it. He is also said to have stated in his 2015 self-evaluation that he needed and would take voice lessons and more training. That was all master deception. Cornish constantly peppered me with questions. When I gave him an answer that he didn’t like, he would get upset and cry out that it was God's choir and insist that he was praying about it. Prayer won't fix a lack of education, training and experience. I finally told him that he needed to go back to college and take voice lessons, choir, vocal pedagogy, diction and choral conducting. In utter frustration I made it clear that things were so bad there really wasn't a choir any longer. Singing with 0 -2 basses and often only 1 of the 2 tenors while pretending there was a real 4 part SATB choir simply wasn't working. Cornish doesn't know how to teach the choir or bell choir the music and keeps taking groups up to share pieces with the congregation that they can barely manage to stumble through. He is a complete fool and constantly embarrassed us. Offerings to God may be humble, but they should be lovingly prepared. That church should hire a qualified professional to lead the choir and not being wasting their few precious dollars on a buffoon who is only there for a paycheck.

I intend to love, support and encourage the few remaining congregants and choir members as they look for a new pastor and music minister and try to save what’s left of their church and its beautiful organ.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

Music Minister, Jerry Cornish, commented on the following article:

7 things I learned in choir rehearsal | Pastor Joe McKeever
January 18, 2017 at 3:33 pm said: Thanks for the article. I am using it to encourage our church choir.

Pastor Joe MCkeever has many wonderful articles. Cornish and Pastor, Pastor Pants On FIRE, Scott Wooddell, should read this article as well:

    https://joemckeever.com/wp/lie-us-pastor/
    Don’t lie to us, pastor

Posted on August 10, 2013 by Joe

“Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices” (Colossians 3:9).
“Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord” (Proverbs 12:22).
Lying is almost unforgiveable in a pastor.
    1. Do not lie to us about your resume......

    Tell us the truth, pastor.

    2. Do not lie to us about your testimony....

    3. Do not lie to us about your ministry.

To our everlasting shame, the term “ministerial exaggeration” has entered the language. If anyone should tell the unvarnished truth, it should be those disciples of Jesus Christ entrusted with the truth of God in the gospel of salvation.......

I once organized a conference and invited in a professional to speak. We charged admission, so the actual number attending was not in doubt, something like 250 or so. But the guest speaker promptly put in his newsletter that we had packed in a thousand people for his seminar. I wondered if he did not know that some of us read his newsletter and would catch that. The only conclusion that made sense is he did not care.
Do not lie to the church about where you went, how you spent your time, whom you saw, what was said, and the plans that were made.
All you have is your integrity, pastor. Lose that and you’re gone.

    4. Don’t lie to us about finances.....

He who is unfaithful about money can be counted on to transgress in other, bigger ways also (see Luke 16:10-12).

Give us pastors whose integrity is blameless.

Let us take seriously Christ’s honor, the people’s respect, and our personal integrity to the point that we always do the honorable thing....

Falsehood belongs to the attackers of the faith, not its citizens nor its defenders.
Let’s get this right, preachers. Everything depends on it.

    Everything.
Cornish lying about his qualifications and intentions from day 1 and continuing to lie in order to get a paycheck out of this precious congregation is dividing this little church. The pastor lying about and attacking anyone who dares to share concerns or ask questions is tearing this church apart as well. This church is in crisis and without drastic changes, especially in the leadership the doors will soon close. Satan is the Father of Lies and he is in that church and driving away the good Christians that used to dwell there away in droves. A holy war is indeed at hand and I will fight to save that precious place.

Ready To Sing Blended Worship, Volume 3

    http://brentwoodbenson.com/Choral/Re...tePreview-2819

What would you think of using this book?

    Jerry
I told him it would be a complete waste of money, but he buys it anyway. He has almost no men left in choir, so there is no point in buying SATB material. With almost no tenors and basses, just who is going to sing this tripe? The book is one hymn that is butchered with pop type accompaniment and unmusical rests added in that is married to some pop crap off the radio that is poorly arranged and not good music for a church choir.

This church had an excellent organist for 25 years that Cornish ran off and highly qualified Music Ministers that were the top in their field. The choir was performing major choral works and the best music out there and had a good reputation in the music community. They can't do that any longer as Cornish knows nothing about voice, choirs or good sacred music. He buys crap like this because it comes with CDs of each voice part. Since he doesn't know how to teach the choir the music and knows nothing about voice he depends on the recordings. When the choir sounds awful, which they always do, he blames them for not doing their homework and listening to the CD. Total incompetence.

Now, the choir is imploding and the church collapsing as Cornish turns it into a laughingstock with this garbage music. If the congregation wants to get rid of the choir and organ and hire a worship band that would do the pop music off the radio they could and certainly wouldn't need Cornish. Most of the congregation seems to want the organ and good quality music they have had for decades. This clown of a music director has wasted hundreds of dollars on music that is best used to line bunny cages. A total waste of the money that is supposed to be building a ministry.

    Proverbs 6:16-19

There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

    Proverbs 19:5

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who breathes out lies will not escape.

    1 John 4:1

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

    1 Thessalonians 5:21

But test everything; hold fast what is good.

    Exodus 23:1

“You shall not spread a false report. You shall not join hands with a wicked man to be a malicious witness.

    Revelation 21:27

But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb's book of life.

    Proverbs 25:18

A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is like a war club, or a sword, or a sharp arrow.
The Music Minister, Jerry Cornish, and the Pastor, Scott Wooddell, building their ministry on lies, secrecy and sowing discord is the work of Satan. Pastor Scott and Jerry Cornish protecting each other against any questions, scrutiny or test and desperately trying to hang on to their paychecks instead of doing the Lord's work has caused that precious dying church to pretty much collapse.

Unless drastic changes are made and new leadership is brought then Satan will win and the doors of this little church will forever close. It is high time the congregation feel safe to speak out and be heard. The numbers have plummeted to the point that the horrific problems can no longer be swept under the rug. The Pastor and Cornish have been tested as they should be and the response was to attack those in the flock, spread lies and be divisive.

    Mark 3:24-25

If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.

    Mark 3:23

And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

Jerry Cornish's total lack of any connection to reality or any real care for his music ministry participants is so shocking. Following is a report I got from a prayer request Cornish made:

He’s trying to at least appear to be trying to learn. He put on the prayer list this week for tenors to be more consistent, and for a bass section leader who can read music. William said “Well, I could do it if he’d teach me how to read music.” LOL
For most of 2017 Cornish only had 1 tenor and for having to carry the part alone when he didn't read music he did an amazing job for somone approaching 80 years of age. What a thoughtless and insensitive thing to put in writing. Then he asks for a bass singer that can read music and lead the section. Cornish is a totally ignorant and incompetent fool. It is his job to teach the music, music reading skills, proper vocal technique and all that. Cornish has no vocal, choral, sacred music or organ background and knows that he is not qualified for the job.

He has totally failed and in reality defrauded that little church. William wanted to learn to really sing more than anything in the world. We were in all the choir groups and became very good friends. He prayed for my kids struggling with medical issues and I encouraged him in his music. Days after Cornish wrote this prayer request William dropped dead at the age of 55. Thanks to Cornish taking a job he couldn't do and running off all the organist and professional musicians like me, William never got to fulfill his dream of learning to really sing. He was just a pawn in Cornish's continuing farce of a music ministry that has been instrumental in emptying the church.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

From what some of the few remaining members are getting, the leadership is happy to run off members and long-term visitors in droves. The story I got is they feel they are running off all the divisive folks and the good people that are left are the ones that will rebuild the church. The place has gone from 2200 members and packed to 1 Sunday service that is almost deserted. Many Sundays the number of people in the sanctuary is said to be around 80-90 maximum.

The talk of Satan being in the church does ring true. Satan is in the leadership that is destroying this precious little church. The buildings are falling apart as is this congregation. The church is going to continue to collapse as the leadership is apparently looking to get to the point that they can control and bully everyone. Some are surprised that people leave without letting them know. Who wants to be at a place where they are afraid to share any concern or opinion? Who wants to be pressured to return to a place where they don't feel moved by the services? A few are staying because they have been there for decades and wish to stay with their friends. The problem is even those friends of years are quietly slipping away from this hellhole.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

    Narcissistic Personality Disorder | randombio.com

....The DSM calls NPD “a pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy” and sets eight criteria:

    1. Sense of self-importance and grandiose fantasies.
    2. Belief in being special, brilliant, and unique.
    3. Need for admiring attention.
    4. Sense of entitlement.
    5. Exploitative, taking advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends.
    6. Arrogance and haughtiness (aloofness) and strong reactions to criticism.
    7. Lack of empathy.
    8. Envy of others or belief that others envy them.

Because these traits create friction with others, narcissists may try to disguise them. For example, they may feign empathy or pretend to be humble and fallible. But because their goal is to be perceived otherwise, they will sabotage their own pretentions, making it clear that their empathy is fake.

A narcissistic leader makes decisions not for the well-being of the organization, but to improve his own personal feelings about himself. Anyone who opposes him therefore threatens his entire identity and self-worth. The narcissist will stop at nothing to eliminate this threat, because his entire ego structure is at stake......

Narcissists are very similar to sociopaths, who are people with antisocial personality disorder (APD). Both types lie without guilt and have little empathy. Both are highly skilled at being charming and feigning empathy in order to exploit others. But they differ in the reason for the behavior. The sociopath is oriented toward gaining advantage over others, while the narcissist is trying to bolster his or her feelings of worthiness and importance.....

Narcissists do not realize they are exploiting and manipulating people, because they are unable to recognize the true feelings of others. They may believe, for instance, that rage and anger directed against them are the result of envy toward them.

To protect their feelings of self-aggrandizement, narcissists will lie shamelessly, but often do not realize they are lying. A person who lies to others will also lie to himself. So the narcissist may sincerely believe they said X, Y, or Z if believing it exonerates them from wrongdoing. A narcissist might make claims to have expertise or skill well beyond his or her actual knowledge. But unlike an ordinary liar, the narcissist truly believes he or she is telling the truth.....

People often unthinkingly accept others' opinions of themselves as accurate. So the narcissist may convince many people, at least at first, that he is indeed important, smart, and unique, especially when he talks of his supposed achievements in a field with which the listeners are unfamiliar.

But eventually, they realize they've been deceived. The narcissist leaves behind a trail of people who hate him for deceiving them and wasting their time and energy......
Jerry Cornish claiming to be qualified to work with vocal, choral, sacred, organ and jazz music are the case in point. He has no training, education or experience in these areas, but is a self proclaimed expert in everything. I am being viciously attacked and lied about because I dared to speak up about the music ministry collapsing. Cornish making hateful gay remarks at the other church shows his desperate desire to always be the center of attention. This narcissist is destroying that music ministry and emptying that church. He is making many savvy people uncomfortable.

Arrogant organization disorder is characterized by a failure of an organization to learn and adapt [2]. Unwilling to allow information to penetrate and flow within the organization, because they already know all there is to know about everything important, the leaders are shocked when their arrogance plows the organization into the ground.

In narcissistic organization disorder, the goal is to elevate organizational self-esteem at all costs, so lying and avoidance of unpleasant realities are prevalent. Members of such an organization have to be extremely careful about what they say. Because lying is so prevalent, they also become mistrustful of each other.
Jerry Cornish, Dr. Scott Wooddell, Dr. Brad Eames and Edith Smith are that leadership that characterize this Arrogant Organization Disorder to a tee. The lies about my giving, how Cornish treated the organist and music professionals that came in the door and the many other glaring problems in the church are the very thing that is destroying what is left of this little church. They are definitely plowing this church right into the ground. The place is crumbling literally and spiritually and the leadership continues to lollygag along as if everything is just grand.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

That is the incredible Randall Keith Horton conducting the Eastridge Park Christian Church choir. Please start at 5:56 and watch to the end. Members remember his time with the music ministry with such reverence and love for him. Some are still in touch with him. Mr. Horton was said to be thrilled with the Doctor of Music Arts candidate that had come in. No doubt he will be horrified that the current Music Minister, Jerry Cornish, ran off his good friend who was the organist of 25 years and this DMA candidate.

That video shows God's choir and that sanctuary filled with real music. Note what Pastor Dan Carroll says about that heavenly music that is filling the sanctuary. To save that church and have that again is going to take the congregation standing up to the dishonest and manipulative pastor and music minister and showing them the door.

    Dear Pastor Scott,

I thank you again for taking the time to speak with DC and I. I do believe you need to be updated about what has transpired since we talked. I took my daughter out to Jerry's home for her regular Friday lesson that day and instead of using the time to teach his student, he spent some of that time lecturing me. Jerry told me I was not to talk to my fellow choir members. There was no need for us to talk to each other, he opined. I was told not to go to the church's leadership with my concerns and it was especially important that I not talk to J. He proceeded to lecture me on that fact that he was her boss and anything I would have to say to anybody had to go through him. I am highly offended and fed up. What right does he have to dictate to me who I communicate with and what is discussed?

As you can see from the text he is once again asking for my help and feedback. As we discussed, I told David Rodgers that I would do everything possible to help Jerry and support this choir that I have grown to love.
Jerry has constantly peppered me with questions and then proceeded to ignore the advice I have graciously offered him. I have been professionally embarrassed on many occasions.

Choir has been my main focus since I was in elementary school. I was in all the top choirs through school and accompanied the show choir at my high school. I chose to pursue a degree in secondary and higher education and choral conducting so that I could share the joy of music and see that every child could have the opportunity to sing. I wanted to be that teacher that encouraged them to use the free and wonderful instrument that God blessed them with and give that free instruction to those who like me would not be able to afford music lessons.

I spent 5 years as a full-time student at Richland treating both piano and voice as principal instruments so that I could develop the skills to get the vocal scholarship I needed to fulfill that dream. I spent 4 more years at East Texas State University continuing to study voice as my major instrument. I have a minor in French and took all the diction courses offered. I was blessed to pass my junior piano barrier and be invited to study organ with Dr. John Burkett. So, besides 9 years of college choir experience, I also have 3 1/2 years of organ. I am very familiar with the sacred choral and organ literature.

I am very concerned with the direction the music ministry has gone since David Rodgers had to leave. Much of the music chosen has been inappropriate and very poorly prepared. There is no excuse for the music not to be properly taught and practiced until it is mastered and everyone is secure in their parts. The pop music is so poorly done it somewhat reminds me of karaoke night. Jerry and I have talked about the needed improvements for months and months.

I think it is becoming obvious that Jerry does not have a background in choral and vocal music and that it is causing irreparable harm to the music program and does need to be addressed by the leadership.
I certainly can for the hundredth time give Jerry to feedback he is seeking, but I feel that should only happen with the church leadership involved. Jerry is now making me extremely uncomfortable and is sadly the reason I have not joined the church.

Thank you for your kind help.

    Sincerely,

    Heather Dobrott
I always followed the proper protocol to solve the glaring problems in the music ministry. I emailed out the wonderful video in the previous post to numerous choir and church members. One dear lady spoke out in obvious support of Jerry Cornish. Many others want Cornish fired immediately. We are also determined to see the church cleaned up starting from the top. I was told that Pastor Scott Scott has done none of the things he said he was going to do. Long time members have seen that he does not seem to care for this tiny congregation and did not treat the other pastor in the church well and she left after a family tragedy. They noted that Pastor Dan Carroll had 2000 members and he was known for being involved and caring.

The numbers in the congregation plummeting and the videos of the sermons getting zero views say it all. Legions of members there for decades have left in the recent months and most members know that the financial situation is dire. More and more members and those that have left are reaching out and now in contact with me. I promised them I would work tirelessly to help right this ship. The lies, secrecy, intimidation and harassment are going to stop! It is time that the voices of members and folks that come in are heard!

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

The email in the previous post garnered no written response from that lying, manipulative pastor. Pastor Scott did come into choir practice, which he had never done before, and went on about what a great job Jerry Cornish was doing. It is painfully obvious to many that that is not the case. The choir is far less than half what it was when Cornish came in. Some had left before Cornish came in when Dr. Porter resigned as he wouldn't kowtow to that nut Pastor Scott with his ridiculous and failed new direction of doing pop crap music in a sacred service. As more and more have reached out to me I am finding that the vast majority do not feel the music is appropriate and some have left and others do not come into the sanctuary for these offensive services. What is left of the leadership rubber stamping and ignoring what Pastor Scott, Jerry Cornish, Edith Smith and Dr. Brad Eames are doing will be the end of this precious church if drastic action is not taken immediately.

This abusive church has infiltrated two local elementary schools. If those kids should walk into the church they are going to be exposed to the dishonest, gay bashing Music Minister, Jerry Cornish and the Pastor who lies and shockingly harasses congregants publicly for what they give. I am warning and informing these schools!

A tragedy. The Music Minister, Jerry Cornish, ran off the organist of 25 years that the congregation loved beyond words. Every other overqualified and talented organist that came in since has been run out the door by that lying buffoon as well. Dr. Brad Eames, Pastor Scott and Jerry Cornish have made it clear they don't care about that gorgeous organ that the members spent thousands of dollars to have installed. I have been told that Brad Eames has said he doesn't think they need an organist and that he doesn't care for classical music. Pastor Scott and Jerry Cornish have been actively pushing hideous pop crap (their brilliant new direction for the music) which has caused a mass exodus and pretty much emptied the church.

Cornish will turn around and tell others he is supporting the organ being kept if he knows that is what they want to hear. But, Cornish knows nothing about real sacred music and organ and should have been shown the door a long time ago. Those that want to keep the doors open and save this organ need to take drastic action now. Soon this picture may be the closest we will get that organ ever again.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

    https://www.discipleshomemissions.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/DW-YoungWomensMinistryProject.pdf

    This is from 2003.
The following is a step-by-step account of how one woman initiated a Women’s Ministry program among young women in a 3000-member congregation. Young Women’s Ministry Project At Eastridge Park Christian Church Mesquite, Texas by Laura Cottrell...

I went to my Pastor, Dan Carroll, for his suggestions and blessings. He gave
me names and addresses of all female members at EPCC in the age range of 25-45. There were 200!......

In order to promote this event, the following steps are being taken:

Call each woman on the list of 280 (ages 25-50) that the 12 women from Sept 8 personally know. A script will be provided to help each volunteer.

There were more women in the 25-45 age group in 2003 than total members left now. Since Pastor Scott announced new member numbers of 200 and smaller months ago many more have bailed this sinking ship. Some members of decades said that they simply couldn't take it anymore. How truly sad is that! Pastor Scott and Jerry Cornish must be sent packing immediately and competent, caring and honest leadership be brought in to right this Titanic!

Eastridge Park Christian Church has such a rich musical heritage. I am so honored and feel so blessed to have gotten a call from Randall Horton himself. He did such wonderful things at Eastridge Park as the video above shows. Pastor Dan Carroll was in tears over the incredible offering to God his humble congregation made under Horton's baton.

    Upcoming Church Performance

Randall and his wife, Andrea have been invited to perform at Eastridge Park Christian Church, Mesquite, Texas, on January 24, 2010 (5:00 p.m.).

Randall served as Minister of Music at EPCC from 1999 - 2001. He and Andrea continue to enjoy friendships and ministry with the church members and pastor, the Reverend Dan H. Carroll. The church members have been greatly supportive of the Hortons since their re-location to New York City. The Hortons will present vocal-piano interpretations, and Randall will perform classical piano compositions and hymn improvisations.

    Rev. Dan Carroll
    Senior Minister (Ret.),
    Eastridge Park
    Christian Church
Pastor Dan Carroll was a great mentor to Randall Keith Horton. Pastor Dan built the church to 3000 members and many have spoken to ne of the love and care he showered on the congregation. We must honor him by driving out the Satanic forces destroying that church. It is obvious that Pastor Scott Wooddell is not the right person to be leading that church and his defense of an incompetent, gay bashing music minister has totally divided and driven off much of the membership. It is time for positive change and new leadership!

PROCLAIMED this 7th day of March 2010.
This is the wonderful legacy of Bro. Dan Carroll that is being destroyed by Pastor Scott Wooddell and his comrade Jerry Cornish. The church will only flourish when the devil's disciples Wooddell and Cornish are out and honest and Godly people brought in to shepherd that precious flock.

re: Eastridge Park Christian Church / The Park Christian Community Church / Jerry Cornish / Pastor Scott Wooddell

    1. Does a member’s personality generally become stronger, happier, more confident as a result of contact with the group? In an abusive church, the use of guilt, fear, and intimidation to control members is likely to produce members who have a low self-image, who feel beaten down by legalism, who have been taught that asserting oneself is not spiritual.
One of the first disturbing characteristics to be reported by relatives and friends of members of these churches is a noticeable change in personality, usually in a negative direction.....

    3. Does the group encourage independent thinking and the development of discernment skills?
Control-oriented leaders attempt to dictate what members think, although the process is so spiritualized that members usually do not realize what is going on.A pastor or leader is viewed as God’s mouth piece, and in varying degrees a member’s decision making and ability to think for oneself are swallowed up by the group.Pressure to conform and low tolerance for questioning make it difficult to be truly discerning.....

    4. Does the group allow for individual differences of belief and behaviour, particularly on issues of secondary importance?
A legalistic emphasis on keeping rules and a focus on the need to stay within prescribed boundaries is always present in unhealthy spiritual envionments.
Lifestyle rigidity in such groups increase a member’s guilt feelings and contributes to spiritual bondage. This rigidity is often coupled with an emphasis on beliefs that would not receive great attention in mainstream evangelicalism.....

    6. Does the group’s leadership invite dialogue, advice and evaluation from outside its immediate circle?Authoritarian pastors are usually threatened by any outside expression of diverse opinions, whether from inside or outside the group. When outside speakers are given access to the pulpit, they are carefully selected to minimize any threat to the leadership’s agenda.Coercive pastors are fiercely independent and do not function well in a structure of accountability. For the sake of public relations, they may boast that they are accountable to a board of some sort, when in actuality the board is composed of “yes-men” who do not question the leader’s authority.

    7. Does the group allow for development in theological beliefs?Another hallmark of an authoritarian church is its intolerance of any belief system different from its own.
They tend to measure and evaluate all forms of Christian spirituality according to their own carefully prescribed system, adopting an “us-versus-them” mentality.

    8. Are group members encouraged to ask hard questions of any kind?A cardinal rule of abusive systems is “Don’t ask questions, don’t make waves.”
A healthy pastor welcomes even tough questions. In an unhealthy church disagreement with the pastor is considered to be disloyalty and is tantamount to disobeying God.
People who repeatedly question the system are labelled “rebellious”, “unteachable”, or “disharmonious to the body of Christ”.
Persistent questioners may face sanctions of some kind such as being publicly ridiculed, shunned, shamed, humiliated, or disfellowshiped.

    9. Do members appreciate truth wherever it is found even if it is outside their group?Whether they admit it or not, abusive churches tend to view themselves as spiritually superior to other Christian groups.
This religious elitism allows little room for outside influences. There can be no compromise with external sources, who, the leadership will say, really don’t understand what is going on in the ministry anyway.
This abusive behavior by the Pastor, Scott Wooddell and his flunky, Music Minister Jerry Cornish described above is without a doubt the reason the church is simply imploding. Under these dishonest clown there will be no revitalization.
