hello to board! I found this by googling Don Holbrook's name as we just got back from Vegas. I had purchased the timeshare presentation package at a Bass Pro Shops and really was in it as needed an inexpensive place to stay for the long weekend. We heard the presentation at Bluegreen a week ago and the part with Don Holbrook was about a hour. There were two things I came away with - 1) he does have an engaging personality, especially if you are young or easily influenced, 2) by BS meter was in full swing with a lot of his stories AND his cheap shoes.

A few of the "facts" he gave us:
1) Bluegreen resorts "saved his marriage" as he was so busy he didnt spend time with his wife (who is a tv reporter or some such famous/beautiful/fill in the blank woman) and now he owns a whole bunch of these weeks and travels all over the world and his kids have travelled all over the world (call me NOT impressed)
2) he is "famous author" with a "team of writers" who work for him so he really doesnt have to do any work, they do it all. He had a book sitting there with his name on it called Next America. I looked up on Amazon and to ME it appears only 2 of the purchasers where "amazon verified" ie the others could be plants/friends - the first reviewer has NO other reviews on Amazon
3) He is a "famous consultant" on fox news. Fair and balanced. Nuff said.
4) He kept pushing the these components on a cheesy board he had created that said something like "family, romance" - dont remember last one. He said that the timeshare points could be used for trips to Europe, etc etc. From my research and experience, bluegreen is a new timeshare and really unless you live in the southeast, is not practical as there are pretty much NO properties west of the Mississipi
5) He bragged about taking his wife all over Europe to write his new amazing book about the knights templar. Once again thanks to Amazon here is the link - note its 99 pages long and is only in a kindle version. He talked about having a writing team help him do this and travelling all over Europe to finish - really? 99 pages? I could do a 99 page book on the knights templar by tomorrow, or 99 pages on ANYTHING. This isnt a book, its a magazine. Here is link to Amazon - note no reviews:
The Knights Templar Uncloaked (Knights Templar Secrets): Don Holbrook: Amazon.com: Books
6) He said that a "famous director in Hollywood" was going to pay him to do a movie on it (with 99 pages more like a short story) and that he "couldnt say who it was but one of his characters wanted to phone/go home". So Speilberg? really? And ET will make us know (a movie made over 30 years ago which is before about 30% of the audience was born)? not Schindlers list? or LINCOLN??? Award nominee this year? That was when my brain started turning off.

there was more self promotion and I have to say that compared to having to sit and have a sales person hammer you, I preferred this. Again I was able to tune off some of the annoying stuff.

I sincerely applaud the mom who started this thread and has spent time on exposing this person. I am the kind of person that believes that everyone especially those with young kids (oh yes, inferred that if not for Bluegreen his youngest would not have been born as he was the oops child - there is an image that I wont be able to get out of my mind ew). I hate to say but this is probably a good place for him as the sale of timeshares involves a high amount of BS and the ability to "sell snow to eskimos" as if you look on eBay you can basically buy the same properties they sell for around $30,000 for basically a dollar plus transfer fees - example:
Bluegreen Points Timeshare 11 000 Las Vegas Nevada Platinum Membership | eBay

you can also search if you log in completed listings on ebay - they sell for an average of under $500, some for as little as $1 (seriously ie 99 cent store timeshare). The one that sold for $2,750 is a platinum membership - put ebay item # 380526772771 into search and see what all the person got.

Again thanks - I am posting this so that if someone like me googles Don Holbrook and Bluegreen they can not only see the truth and your research but what the units TRUE value is as that is the bottom line for me. I hate that folks with not enough money are being talked into these. That is how they all end up on eBay - basically they are bought and resold with the sellers making money on the transfer, NOT on the price of the unit. Ie someone walked away and lost money.

will definately check back in here to see what our "old friend" is up to - if there are any televised appearances please post as I would LOVE to see that. take care and again thanks for your time and energy into all this research!
