I wrote a Master's Thesis on the Impact of the Internet on how we Live, Work & Play in 1990, which was prior to the use of the new world wide web interface, this led to a patent application for the first site location assistance model for online site location incentive and buildings and sites searches, this system was later acquired by IEDC from Holbrook. In the graduate program I wrote a dissertation on the Site Location Model and how the local economics of all communities should be cataloged and used to attract inward investment.

I do not utilize the credentials due to the fact that the University failed to achieve US educational accreditation and then ceased operations in 1998.

Holbrook's latest lie-filled blather on LinkedIn takes the cake. That raving lunatic can't claim a 4.0 or any credentials for work at a University that was unaccredited where one's Master's Thesis and Doctoral Dissertations were graded by secretaries. Those alleged works he claimed have never been published online and I am sure would be good for little else than toilet paper. The internet was pretty much non-existent before 1990 and in the early 90s was still in its infancy as "it only communicated 1% of the information flowing through two-way telecommunications networks in the year 1993 according to Wiki" So, what did Holbrook blather about in his thesis without the use of my time travel broomstick???

I have decided to create a published account of my goal to take my latest non-fiction book, the Next America-Moving Beyond a Fragile Economy published in November 2011, to a nationally ranked Best Seller on the major book sales lists.
The Next America is up to us… we will define this century by our bold actions.

Now this is not meant to be a bragging journal. It is a scientific experiment on how I believe publishing has evolved so quickly into a business of very fast paced self-promotion and social media integration. You must be prepared to use these tools if you want your book to reach the masses of readers out there. Currently there are nearly 10,000 new self-published books per month and hundreds of thousands created per year. Therefore to make an impact you must be prepared to take risks and invest some cash in the game to get viewers and potential paying readers.

I have experimented over the course of 2012 with pushing the sales of the printed book by using the varies outlets available for free such as LinkedIn and Facebook. The sales over that year were not enough to cover the cost of production of the book. I have approximately $3500 tied up in editing, cover design and publishing type setting etc. My breakeven point is the sale of 1600 book sales. Of course promotion is going to cost money as well. During my first year I also launched the book as an audio book format. It has done much better on Itunes and Audible.com than from printed or digital sales on Amazon thus far. I believe the book has sold approximately 50 books in this venue so far since January 2013.
My promotional campaign is going to start out very simple then increase in complexity....

....So my break even financial goal is to sell approximately 750 ebooks in total over the course of the campaign to cover marketing.

Once this impact has been assessed if there is a positive return on my investment or sales of approximately 2400 Ebook sales and/or audio sales, then the venture was a break even. If the sales surpass that then it was successful depending on by how much I surpass sales. In order to make the New York Times list your book must reach over 10,000 sales in one month in its’ genre. This is a tall task for non-fiction books.
Beginning in 2014 if the campaign is successful I will repeat it again, this time I will include a new book trailer for Youtube $400 from Novel Publicity...

I would probably include a new professional author Bio and new enhanced ebook distribution beyond Kindle to various other formats by Book Baby which will cost another $299.

As you can see this type of work as an author is the dark side that very few authors enjoy but it is necessary. The risks are fairly high as well. Without investing capital and time it is very difficult to build enough marketing power to be financially successful at publishing and being a paid author, versus an author that pays for notoriety and reaps no financial rewards significant enough to make their authorship a viable commercial venture. Some authors tie their books primarily to their speaking platform and use the books as a loss leader. That is a fine and very acceptable approach. My goal is that the books need to be both commercially viable and also generate interest in me as a professional speaker. If the books are successful, then the speaking should follow suit.

I decided to write about this marketing experiment in hopes of helping others who might also want to learn how to market their books if they are forced into the self-publishing market. There is little sense in writing a book if you do not build readership in my opinion. Therefore while writing a book is quite a feat unto itself, marketing is just as much work if not more. Without the finale of marketing the writing experience may be rewarding personally but it will not be financially lucrative and you may never recover your cost of actual production.

I’ve been conducting a three month orchestrated marketing campaign to get my book on everyone’s radar! It’s been a very well planned Ecampaign using a number of well known book publicity tools, emails, bloggers, social media and articles. I have begun discussion with a major publisher and their editorial board.

All this is good news. My final push is going to be a video trailer and book reading club media kit.

Then I will do a media press release and literary agent query letter promotion. My goal is to be in full distribution on the bookshelves by next summer

Whew… Very heavy lifting but I think the book has a powerful message all Americans should become familiar with, “you are either part of the problem or the solution......

Even though I am sure it will never happen, it would certainly be something taking Don Holbrook on a press tour. Resume fraud, failed projects galore, lawsuits and lawsuit threats out the wazoo, bankruptcies times two and so much more. That is sure going to make a publisher think his book is actually written by someone with the education, experience and integrity to speak on the topic of economics. Hilarious!

I just released a new book for those of you that might be interested in determining if writing a book, getting it published and then marketing it might be something of interest to you. It is simple to read and takes you through the entire process…all that I have learned over the past decade about this subject. I get quite a few of these requests so I decided I might as well publish the concept and the knowledge and share it officially with everyone else.

As far as one could tell from Holbrook's own admissions he has never made any money off of his book sales.

This woman is not only incapable of understanding my comments she also takes them out of context. My comments referred to my current book, The Next America, which I have spent no effort or time in promoting until this month. My #1 reference is correct as my first book now in its second revised edition is still the best seller in the economic development industry with sales of over 6,000 books since 2007. The Next America has sold briskly this month and I am very pleased with its new sales growth.

Your portrayal of my reorganization bankruptcy was completely not factual as well. You obviously have no idea how such business matters work. My BK was a reorganization because I got stiffed for my final payment by Earthquest, which I was told was forthcoming by the developer. I made the decision to pay my IRS tax bill with that payment and when it did not come I could not mitigate the tax ramifications and workout a payment with the IRS unless I was under this Chapter 11 reorganization plan. There is nothing deceitful about creating a repayment plan that I could adhere to with my income that was available to me and predictable. My speaking, books and consulting projects are not predictable. Therefore the only longterm retainer for work I was able to use was the work I was contracted to do for EMCID. That does not mean that I did not disclose all of my income appropriately as you have stated. You again are factually wrong. Please leave me, my family and my clients alone. People who get online and spew such hatred are in my opinion mentally off and socially unbalanced. In my opinion Heather Dobrott and Frank Maurizio have some type of anger issues that they themselves need to deal with and quit blaming your hatred for your own lives on others. He made so little off of his books he didn't list them as income in his bankruptcy. He is a # 1 best selling author, but doesn't break even on his books. When asked to provide documentation of claims he was responsible for "these projects have created over 50,000 living wage jobs," he provides no documentation, but does claim his books will tell others how to do the same. Funny, but not one review has mentioned anything about a reader turning their book purchase into an economic boon. Now, this lunatic wants to tell others how to get their own books published???

October marked the beginning of my 12 month campaign to market The Next America my current non-fiction book. I am also finishing the edits on the 9th Templar historical fiction based thriller and my SoapboxMomma murder mystery thriller.

The marketing thus far has been several blogs. I am anxious to see if the 25,000 bloggers I exposed to my book will have a positive impact on my sales.

The break even on this effort is only about 30 book sales. This sea like a reachable goal to be.

I am still waiting for this gem. Holbrook is certainly a lawsuit waiting to happen isn't he!

As the review was obviously written by an idiot I have to assume Holbrook wrote at least some of this drivel. Indoctrinated? He should have said inducted. Of course, since he is no longer a member of the IEDC he can no longer use the Fellow Member designation he is braying about.

Is the alleged author, Dorothy Thompson, going to buy the copy of the book that will finally get it to the break even point? Again, it is publicity that Holbrook has paid for in a desperate effort to publicize his books. Pathetic!

I have just released the follow up citizen’s guide to taking individual grassroots action to bring about positive change in our Republic.
This is part of the follow-up to my debut book, “the Next America-Moving Beyond a Fragile Economy.” The follow-up series will address in more detail the necessary fundamental starting points of what we should focus on as citizens if we want to preserve and rekindle hope in everyone being capable of achieving their own version of the American Dream.

Holbrook just never quits spouting garbage. I think the real answer to the rebirth of the American dream is to eliminate scammers like Holbrook that bilk the taxpayers and many innocent marks.

This ass never stops. What is he doing?? The wind keeps blowing his stink around. I wonder if he is looking for more baloneys to milk dry. Why would he think anyone would read this hot wind bag garbage. It stinks to high hell.

Does this windbag ever stop. Two days in a row with garbage from the twilight zone.

Steve Jobs was an iconic part of my own adult life. He stood for progress and overcoming almost insurmountable odds fueled by the doubts of the status quo mainstream of society and culture within mainstream business. He was a maverick, out of the box thinker that followed his heart and intuition. He said, “That your heart and intuition already know what you need to become.” He achieved a world changing and game changing prowess not only within the computer industry but in society. He made his company’s products part of our ethos and our belief of what can be. I just watched the movie of his early years. It brought back my own recollection of my own views of his company, products and brand magnetism during my own life. I smiled. He inspired many of us to be ready to change the world and take the brow beating of all those that are not ready and able to be part of the solutions and those not ready to think of what’s next and say why not! Steve Jobs had his share of personal quirks and driven business tactics and he may not have always been the most personable guy, but he was a rule breaker, game changer and inspiration to all maverick leaders and thinkers.

Now Just ask yourself, if Steve Jobs could orchestrate our economic platform for our national economy, what would he focus on and why… no Why not?

I doubt he would see Universal Healthcare as the biggest issue, and not even getting people back to being employed, and no he would not worry about government confidence by the voters. He would look at our potential and begin to build the economy that nobody else can see yet. He wouldn’t worry about the cost to do so, he would understand the reward would far outweigh the costs and risks to achieve, The NEXT America! Jobs I think would focus on creating dynamic change and destroy all the impediments that restrict our achieving it. I think he would see governments role as regulatory, not management and operations. He would see the byzantine tax code as something that inhibits growth and personal innovation, risk and reward and find a better way for government to provide us with our expectations of protecting us, making sure we get treated fairly in our global affairs, and that what we purchase is safe and reliable and that it has the surety of being what we expect when we purchase it, especially in our financial matters of our own personal affairs. He would want capitalism to be more aggressive and not filtered by governmental intervention.

Today, let’s embrace the spirit of Steve Jobs. Let’s look at what we want our country to become, not how can we keep it solvent and just functioning with some false hope of future outcomes based on further false promises of an economic reality that we all have known for decades that does not add up.

Today, it is time for all of us to become those maverick thinkers, those radical leaders of outspoken risk takers and to push our nation to a new level of progress that means we must unbuckle from the shackled chains of oppressive governmental ideals that they know what is best for WE THE PEOPLE. We know what is best it lies in each of our own intuition and hearts. We know we must rise to a new level of challenges and undue the follies of failed economic policies for the past forty years or more. We must unleash the NEXT AMERICA in the 21st century to be something no other nation has yet achieved.

I hope you will join me in this journey to create the necessary external voices that demand positive changes that will lift our entire nation to new unimagined heights. Let’s not forget just how foreign our founding fathers must have felt when they called for a revolution to break away from the King of England and to create a set of inalienable rights for all citizens… that was a game changer and it was definitely not the status quo!
