Well then has Mr. Rotund been honest in his BK filings? I don't see a single dime in earnings from his books, speaking engagements or economic development activities. He is still hawking timeshares. That is the absolute bottom of the barrel and a downright sleazy occupation.

Don Holbrook needs to remove the Phd. and FM designations from any promotional materials. I have already admonished him for this, but the dishonest dirtbag has yet to clean his pages up.
Fellow Member Designation (FM)
Fellow Member (FM) status is conferred upon active IEDC members who have attained unusual stature in the field of economic development and closely related disciplines. Unusual stature is defined as significant contributions to the profession through service to the Council and/or academic endeavors directly related to the practice of economic development. A Fellow holds the classification as long as membership in the Council is maintained.
I notice Holbrook is not a speaker for this year's conferences. I guess there was no session on how to deal with failed and stalled projects by turning into a litigious, loudmouthed lunatic. And, while we are on that subject, I guess the IEDC better threaten suit against Holbrook for using their designations. My bet is he was forced out of the IEDC due to his egregious attacks and lawsuit against taxpayers discussing his stalled and fictitious projects. Will anyone still associated with EarthQuest allow that goon to get involved in the project again in any capacity after his sickening displays of aberrant behavior? What a huge embarrassment he is!Member, CEcD, FM

I am shocked honestly that a person with your background cannot understand the circumstances you have been attacking me over.
I do not believe you have really thought about your accusations. Anyone who has served our country I honor for their service. So rather than continue to escalate this I will address it and see if we can agree to an honorable de-escalation.
First, I do not appreciate being called a criminal. You should know that is not true. I have never done anything dishonest in my dealings as a consultant. My fees, which are clearly laid out ahead of time in contracts, which are signed my all parties involved and further approved at public hearings are declared before anyone, makes the choice to hire me for my services . Projects such as EarthQuest take years of work to complete. I began work on this project in 2004. My job was to find the best place in the Southern USA for a new theme park. I reviewed and met with 22 states and recommended Texas, that took 2 years of my full time work. Next I had to decide between 16 competing locations in Texas for the final site for this project. Another 1.5 years of full time work. I recommended the Houston market to the developer. Then I had to work with EMCID and the state of Texas to create a economic development tool that would appease the financial industry, which I did. At that point my work is done. Yes, then I was paid per my contract for my nearly 4.5 years of full time work.
Then the developer ran into the global financial crisis and could not raise the funds to continue. EMCID came back to me for input, which I charge for just as when you go to work. I recommended Contour convert to becoming the developer because they had tremendous experience in that industry.
I was never hired to raise any money, I have never been the developer of this project, and I have no equity or ownership interest in the project.
So by EMCID's own letters of acknowledgement and gratitude I did my job and earned all my fees as per my contracts.
There not one once of deceit in that work or my fee charges, or they wouldn't have freely paid them.
As for other things I've done- I have been on the SBA board for CA, NV and Az since 2006. I was on the small business loan committee and we approved over 2.5B in loans during my time on the loan committee and those loans assisted in those businesses creating over 50,000 jobs here in America. Those are all documented via the government. Each year I have to pass a full background check to be on that board.
Yes, I like many others got hurt when many of my clients (mostly developers) failed to pay their bills during 2008-2011, due to the global financial crisis. So when my clients all suffered I had to restructure through a BK reorganization to pay my own creditors based on my now diminished income.
I have never cheated on my BK reorganization and I reported my income and expenditures monthly to a US Federal BK Trustee, and still do.
So comments about me being dishonest or cheating or being a criminal of course piss me off. I like many others have had to change many things in my life so that my family faced as little disruption of their own world as possible.
So, yes I take offense to such attacks because it is simply not true and it harms me further for things I am not responsible for, but get blamed for by people such as Heather Dobrott.
My position on disclosing private matters further than this to reporters and others is simple. The law does not require such disclosure because it is nobody's business but my own. That is how it will stay. My clients always request references and I always supply them with several on each assignment.
My family has to tolerate enough already with uninformed people making malicious attacks on me for things they don't truly understand. That is part of doing business with the public sector. I provide 100% of what they and the law require for disclosure. I will never cater to the media because they twist stories to sensationalize them to sell advertising for their own economic gain.
Now, I have taken a good bit of time and explained all this to you, because after you disclosed your background I am assuming you can better understand my position in all these negative comments. Simply put they not even close to be correct and/or factual.
I hope this allows you to understand my position in these matters and we can cease these silly tirades via email.
Sincerely,
Don A. Holbrook
So, that explains why Holbrook has threatened and filed numerous lawsuits over the years against taxpayers, journalists and bloggers who posted facts and shared their opinions? His own words over many years show what a pompous a$$ he is. Holbrook has yet to present verifiable documentation to refute the things published about him and his so-called projects.
Holbrook and his partner orchestrated the world tours costing tens of thousands on the taxpayers dime. They enjoyed the thousands of dollars spent on ridiculous extravagances such Houston Rockets tickets, country club outings, wining and dining at very exclusive spots across the country. Holbrook really enjoyed the Chez Nous crew lifestyle. Perhaps, this factual news account (one of Holbrook's frivolous, harassment suit victims wrote) will refresh his memory. Those trips did wonders for Mr. Rotund's figure no doubt!First, I do not appreciate being called a criminal. You should know that is not true. I have never done anything dishonest in my dealings as a consultant. My fees, which are clearly laid out ahead of time in contracts, which are signed my all parties involved and further approved at public hearings are declared before anyone, makes the choice to hire me for my services .
Holbrook accomplished the job of finding the dumbest hick who would happily let him and his friends empty the vault. EMCID was picked because they were stupid enough to throw millions at this project without doing any due diligence whatsover. Boy did EMCID win the prize! Sadly, the folks that believed the ground breaking dates and fictitious opening dates lost their life savings in hotels, RV parks and other businesses that folded when the park never came.Projects such as EarthQuest take years of work to complete. I began work on this project in 2004. My job was to find the best place in the Southern USA for a new theme park. The original developers were a bunch of idiots and anyone who bothered to check would know they had done nothing but a very few cheap tract house developments. They totally mismanaged one project and it landed in bankruptcy with angry homeowners left to deal with the fallout. Not to mention their invovlement in the cancer curing water scam that was sued by the Texas board of Regents and MD Anderson Cancer Center. Then the developer ran into the global financial crisis and could not raise the funds to continue. EMCID came back to me for input, which I charge for just as when you go to work. I recommended Contour convert to becoming the developer because they had tremendous experience in that industry.

EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT / Directors approve contracts / Contract OK'd for theme park consultant
SUZANNE WEST, Houston Chronicle Correspondent
Thu 11/29/2007 Houston Chronicle, Section ThisWeek, Page 6, 2 STAR Edition
East Montgomery County Improvement District directors approved contracts for services to the district.
These ranged from site surveying to retaining consulting services in connection with the Earth Quest theme park project at a special directors meeting Nov. 7.
The directors will retain Don Holbrook and the Vercitas Group for consulting services in connection with the for-profit theme park portion of the Earth Quest project.
Under the terms of the $25,000 contract, Holbrook will provide the district with outside consulting services connected with securing financing and investors, said Frank McCrady, EMCID president and CEO.
"We want to make sure he stays with the project and makes the presentations," said McCrady.
Holbrook has already been working with the project's promoters, founders and the district and was actively involved in the process that selected the site of the Earth Quest venture.
The district has five potential financing sources for the for-profit portion of the project, he said.
Directors also approved two contracts related to the district's office building and campus.
$185.00 an hour to work for a charity is outrageous and the same clowns on the for profit project agreed to that whilst full of the finest from Chez Nous no doubt. And, to use a charity to publicize a for profit venture is totally unethical. That is not a legitimate charitable purpose.
So, now we know where he got that fictitious figure of 50,000 jobs. It was not his prowess or even work as an economic developer, but his seat on a loan committee from which he got that. Anyone could warm that same loan committee chair. Again, he has been misrepresenting himself and his accomplishments for years.Don A. Holbrook, Certified Economic Developer, (CEcD) Don Holbrook is a private practitioner involved in the major elements of site location analysis for major private sector investment projects. He specializes in public backed inducements and incentives that reduce the risk of new business investments. He has worked on over 100 projects representing over 1 billion dollars in public capital investment generating more than 50,000 jobs in his 17 years in the profession.
Funny, but I hear he is traveling, out dining and wifey is still dressing to the nines even though he is supposedly too poor to pay your creditors. How many others in bankruptcy are living the lifestyle of the rich and famous as the Holbrook family has been?Yes, I like many others got hurt when many of my clients (mostly developers) failed to pay their bills during 2008-2011, due to the global financial crisis. So when my clients all suffered I had to restructure through a BK reorganization to pay my own creditors based on my now diminished income.

So, yes I take offense to such attacks because it is simply not true and it harms me further for things I am not responsible for, but get blamed for by people such as Heather Dobrott.
When one is sucking on the government tit, so to speak the taxpayers throwing their money at you have a right to expect full disclosure. The charity papers Holbrook, Frank McCrady and Dr, Gardner are still hiding are a case in point. You are legally bound to make those publicly available. My position on disclosing private matters further than this to reporters and others is simple. The law does not require such disclosure because it is nobody's business but my own. That is how it will stay. My clients always request references and I always supply them with several on each assignment.
I have quoted mainstream newspaper articles from across the country, Holbrook's own babblings, public records, numerous court filings etc. How does that constitute being uninformed? My family has to tolerate enough already with uninformed people making malicious attacks on me for things they don't truly understand. That is part of doing business with the public sector. I provide 100% of what they and the law require for disclosure. I will never cater to the media because they twist stories to sensationalize them to sell advertising for their own economic gain.
If there is any false statement of fact, then Holbrook should be able to identify said statement(s) and refute such with some verifiable documentation. He has never done so.Now, I have taken a good bit of time and explained all this to you, because after you disclosed your background I am assuming you can better understand my position in all these negative comments. Simply put they not even close to be correct and/or factual.
I hope this allows you to understand my position in these matters and we can cease these silly tirades via email.

I have not been affiliated with their charity since 2010 and I do not have any records of theirs. With regard to Soapboxmom (Heather Dobrott)... She is completely off base on her allegations regarding me. Her understanding of a nearly billion dollar Develoment aren't reality based either. Those type deals go through years of due diligence before they get built . She really just has no idea how this stuff works.
I don't provide her with any information because she would just twist it to her own malicious intent and create some sensationalized story based on her beliefs not facts.
The facts are simple when EMCID agrees to the final development agreement they are 100% paid back by the developer for their due diligence and bond costs. That was agreed to up front when I was involved. The nonprofit is also supposed to begin receiving monies from the projects once it's open and operational. I negotiated that when I was there and involved, so as long as the nonprofit and EMCID don't change or modify those agreements, my understanding is that will still happen.
Sincerely
Don
Soooooo.......Ga$$bag is'nt involved in the charity aspect of this project anymore. Gee, I wonder why? Could it be the fact the till (err, the pie-plate, is dry?)
You can bet your bottom dollar there are a few people down here that will do everything possible to make sure lard-ass will be pulling back nubs if he makes an attempt to stick his stubby, fat tentacles back into the pie again!!!

Hilarious! Finally Holbrook's true calling. And, the contact is none other than his bitch of an attorney that sued half of the planet and was laughed out of court for lack of jurisdiction (which we predicted would happened before she even filed her harassment suit.) Seeberger would be great as his puppet. Obviously, she let him put all sorts of words in her mouth judging from her truly embarrassing filings.

If I were 22 again what I would like to have known
Posted by economicdeveloper in Keynote Speaker, You, Inc.
#IfIwere22
I would tell our graduating class the following;
1.) Don’t be in a hurry to start work… you still need a graduate degree and maybe a doctorate to really stand out in the professional work. And that is just to get you in the room… then your work ethics and other dynamic attributes will create some cool opportunities for yourself.
2.) Don’t shoot short of your dream but also don’t procrastinate on what changes you need to make to your own self realistically to achieve what you want out of life… you are your own worst enemy… so be realistic and accountable to yourself.
3.) Be kind, humble, non-judemental and focused on being a great person with the greatest expectations of your own performance and don’t worry about the others, you are competing against you and your own goals, milestones and desired outcomes.
4.) Life is about learning to live in spite of what is going on around you… none of us know how much time we have on this planet, so live life to the fullest and not in the someday mode. Find ways around obstacles, find inner strength to achieve what others do not believe you can and find time to enjoy the journey, the destination is not what is important… we all end up dead and all our attained goals matter for nothing when that day comes… life is about collecting awesome memories with those we love and doing things that inspire and engage us in our passions.
5.) Don’t live to work, you will discover that work is what we exchange to make the time and resources for the things that matter most in life; Meaningful time with Family & Friends, having fun, Relaxing and not being stressed about life and work, going on adventures to explore places we really want to experience and finally having time to be in love and enjoy romance.
These are the lessons that time teaches those of us that eventually find our balance in life and become satisfied with our choices we have made in our life. Remember you are where you end up by your own choices you made, so be accountable to yourself first and foremost to make great life choices that are in your own best interest. That is the wisdom of living a high quality life. One word of warning, YES I know you are special, but you are probably not an anomaly, so you will make mistakes… just learn from them and don’t let them sidetrack you or shut you down. Get up and adapt and innovate until you find what works, never quit trying to succeed, because if you do, then you will truly have failed to have lived.
Cheers and Good Luck in your Endeavors… everyone deserves an awesome life but very few find this wisdom until something dramatic or devastating happens to them. I hope you find it without such stressful situations.

Press Announcement, New York, NY
Radio Interview of Don A. Holbrook, Economic Development Economist and Author by Syndicated CBS Radio talk show host Al Cole on his show, “People of Distinction” is scheduled for June 11, 2014 at 5:30 PM EST.
Holbrook will discuss his newest book, “The Next America-Thriving and Surviving in an Unpredictable Economy”
Key topics will be the coming next economic chaos and how the American People can prepare for it and then rebuild our economy into a sustainable and fiscally sound economy that does not sacrifice our core founding father values of capitalism. The discussion is candid talk about political reform that is needed and necessary and how and why we must make drastic economic reforms including abolishing the IRS and the current tax code in order to provide the greatest economic development stimulus in the USA. Holbrook advocates that such action is necessary drastically before draconian actions will be necessary by our government if we stay on the current course of denial and lack of fiscal accountability.
Motivational & Keynote Event Speaker - Don Allen Holbrook, LLC - Las Vegas, NV
Question and answerThat site invites comments, so feel free to speak your mind. Mine was quite snarky and it is still up.
Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.
A. Site Location evaluation for new facilities, economic incentive negotiations and project feasibility in specific locales .
Q. What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
A. Hire me I'm the recognized thought leader in this field of work and I get paid only when my clients are successful.
Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?
A. All cities, states, provinces and local governments provide economic assistance to legitimate business opportunities. These economic incentives generally can amount to approximately 15% to 25% of the total project cost.
The art of negotiating such deals is not something someone with no pedigree in this industry should try to undertake. The economic development field is a professional practitioner based society and thus very receptive to their own cadre in such negotiations . I am a former international board member, published author and highly recognized subject matter expert in this field of work.
Q. What important information should buyers have thought through before seeking you out?
A. You need to be serious about your pursuit of the project and have the financial capacity to do all elements of deal due diligence not just pay my upfront feasibility fee. While most of my work is performance based it is not contingent upon your own ability to raise funds. My work enhances your financing to increase your ROI and reduce upfront financial risks. All projects have various other elements of due diligence that involve other professionals that will most likely require payment for their services upon completion of their own tasks, as do I.
Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?
A. Exceptional performance based consultant with proven results that matter to my clients.
Q. What do you like most about your job?
A. The finalization of the project and watching a project come to fruition.
Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?
A. How are you compensated?
1.) initial fee for project feasibility generally 1 day of work with recommendation of potential financial value and feasibility of gaining approval of business capitalization economic incentives. Fee is generally $1500-$2500 depending on the complexity of the project.
2. Paid 5% of the economic incentive value upon approval by appropriate jurisdictional party. 50% upon acceptance and 50% at first funding escrow.
3.) speaking fee for events is $3500 which includes travel to the event from Las Vegas and within the continental USA. International travel is paid by the client. Clients are responsible for lodging, meals and local transportation in all cases domestic and/or international.
Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?
A. I negotiated a $520M incentive package for a client opening a new project in Texas commencing in 2014. One of the largest economic incentive packages in Texas and USA.
Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?
A. It is a closed society of highly educated professionals.
Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?
A. Started at a young age after graduation on the public sector side negotiating and deciding on public economic Inventives for the local governments.
Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.
A. EarthQuest Texas theme park and research center for new clean energy based sources that can be used in major commercial developments.
Q. Do you do any sort of continuing education to stay up on the latest developments in your field?
A. Certified Economic Developer and Master Business Consultant.
Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.
A. Earthquest is a $1B investment in Texas with total job impact of 20,000 from all tiers of economic impact.
Q. If you were advising someone who wanted to get into your profession, what would you suggest?
A. It's very difficult unless you have done time and gained experience from both sides of the negotiating table.
Q. What is your greatest strength?
A. Dynamic and visionary deal structurer with a tenacity of getting greater economic value for my clients than they had thought possible. I generally exceed my clients performance expectations!
Q. What are you currently working on improving?
A. Marketing my services to more private sector business owners and executive management teams.
However, I wanted to capture Holbrook's lie-filled Q & A. 5% of millions of dollars for a large project to this goon? Who would agree to highway robbery like that?
Holbrook is proud of a project that is all pictures and hot air out of his lying mouth and lard butt??? Hasn't it occurred to him someone might check out this load of bull?
Hello, Donny. They asked how long Earthquest took and you responded as if the 1 billion dollar project actually existed and had created jobs. This is totally dishonest. We have no reason at the present time to think Earthquest will ever come to fruition.

7 Biggest Mistakes made by New Authors in Publishing a Book
by Don Allen Holbrook
#1 Hurrying to Publish with too much focus Fame
Make sure your book is your best work… don’t be in a hurry just to get published. Do the basics very well, developmental edit, reader reviews, 2nd draft edit, polish edit, interior layout and cover design. The more professional the better the book will be received and sell.
#2 Buying too many services advertised to Authors
There are a whole host of services on the Internet available to help you publish and market your book… most of them are not cost-effective. Check real references such as other authors that have used them and make sure you spend your money wisely or else you will spend a bunch with not much to show for your investment.
#3 Opting to choose the cheapest route… versus the best route
If you don’t invest in your book, why would anyone else invest their own money in it? Make it your best effort and the lowest bid is not always the best choice. Then again neither is the most expensive either. VETT your choices and check references. Many services simply are not worth the investment. I recommend following a plan to address first the writing of the book, then the publishing and last but not least the publicity and marketing of your book. All publishers now expect their authors to shoulder much of the focus on social media, book signings and readings and marketing.
#4 Waiting to be found and Not Being Proactive
If you are waiting to be discovered, that might be the longest wait you ever undertake. You have to seek out agents and publishers. You need to invest in a great pitch letter, a good synopsis and sample chapter to send to prospective agents and publishers. Using LinkedIn to find publishers and literary agents is a great tool. You can also use services and experts to help you match up with the best agent for your needs and that fits your genre and style.
#5 Not owning your ISBN and LCN independently
Always protect your work with these services and own the ISBN and the LCN yourself. Many self-publishing services will provide you the ISBN but then you are stuck with them as your publisher and can’t utilize all the venues for marketing and selling your book. Being an Author requires you think like YOU, INC. You are in charge of making deals to promote and sell your book and you want to be on as many services as possible and platforms. Examples, Baker & Taylor, Ingram, Barnes & Noble, NOOK, Amazon, Kindle, Apple Itunes and Ibook.
#6 Self-Agent or Self-Representation
As much as it is a pain in the butt, you need to make the effort to actually find a literary agent that believes in your work… if you can’t find one then you have no choice but to self-represent. But giving up after only 10, 20, 40, 50 or even 100 rejections should not be when. Persevere. Getting traditionally published without an agent is a one in a million chance. It’s not very likely to happen in other words. Self-publishers have extremely difficult time getting their books into bookstores and getting noticed at all.
#7 Write a Great Story
You should worry more about the content than the sales of your book. Don’t allow your story to suffer for your own self-absorbed vision of becoming a highly acclaimed famous New York Times best selling author. To be such you must learn to be a great writer first and then develop a great story. That always has to come first or the fame and fortune will never appear. Invest in the fabric and meat of your story being produced professionally. Don’t skimp on the edits and use the entire editing process. Start with a couple of proof reads for reader input, then do at least two development edits using a professional. Next move to the polish edit to make sure the grammar is correct. Then an interior layout edit. Last invest in a professional cover. Now you have a professional commercially viable product… so you are at least worthy of entering the contest.

Is Donny suggesting he got 100 rejections??? That is the first thing he has said in ages that we would actually give some credence to!

Commencing the edits on my new cyber stalker murder mystery thriller next month... Should be a fun project
Details
Meanwhile, I have been working on two other fiction novels that also have been of great interest to me. One is based on an actual sad event of my own life, I became the target of a cyber stalker in 2012 and it was awful and devastating to me, my family and did hurt my career and reputation wrongfully and without any basis of merit or fact. This caused me a tremendous economic strain as she created so much defamatory commentary online it caused me of my clients to be apprehensive of hiring me in fear that she would target them as she had some of my current clients at that time. Rather than just take the abuse and let her get away with it, I decided to write my own fiction story about the situation and turn it into a murder mystery thriller. That book currently with a rough working title of “SoapboxMomma the Cyber Stalker” is now undergoing edits and will be slated as my second book release in the fiction genre. This book is somewhat shorter than the 9th Templar and thus much easier to turn into a screen play. That is my intention for this book as well. Why not take a bad situation and make lemons into lemonade.Holbrook better be careful on this one. I don't think he can afford any more lawsuits! If had ever made a false statement of fact or actually cyberstalked this loser he would have already gotten me into court and triumphed. What is he going to claim that he is afraid of? Does he live in terror he will never get his fat snout in a public (tax dollar filled) trough?NRS 200.575 Stalking: Definitions; penalties. 1. I am asking all of you as friends to help me raise the recognition of my book for me and my publisher on Amazon. The way we accomplish this is to generate customer reviews on the books web page. If I can get it up over 100 reviews it will boost my search engine optimization. Please take a minute and go to this link and click on customer reviews and just enter a few kind remarks and give it a star rating. I will deeply appreciate all of your effort in making my book climb up the Amazon rankings… without your help this will be much more difficult. Let’s use the power of our social media to help each other. Thank yo in advance for helping me. Here is the link.

Oh, I intend to. What's funny is he couldn't even get 100 friends (that he doesn't have) to even buy his book. That's what friends do for each other right? I know my friends would to help me out. So they won't buy it but they'll somehow review it for him? I'm sure he's alienated everyone he's ever come in contact with. It's all laughable.
Be sure to report the existing non purchase reviews as shill reviews begged for by the scammer. All 5 of them. lmao!
