According to BTV News and a Shanghai radio station a record was set for the most fake teachers ever arrested in a single month (more than 1,000) after China's most famous blacklisted tefl teacher recruiter Rebecca Tang, who now calls herself Rosie Tang was just arrested last March for the second time in 5 years! The first time she pleaded guilty and only served 1 year in jail. But the second time she was facing 10 years behind bars because she committed the same crime twice (defrauding foreigners). So now she is cooperating completely with the cops to save her own ass and last month this was the result...

There was a blurb about this on CCTV News as well but one of the cops made the reporter turn off the TV camera when about 12 expats were being taken out of a police van, I don't understand Chinese so I don't know what they were saying. It is curious why they waited to the end of the school year to do this? I am even more curious if Rosie Tang will now just change her appearance again and start handing out biz cards that say Ruby Tang? Her "Rosie" photo is in the above link. Her "Rebecca" photo is online somewhere but I can't find it now. You would not know they are the same person without looking carefully.

BTV News just reported that another 615 fake foreign teachers were arrested during the month of June and asid from getting jail time and criminal record, they got a 5 year reentry ban to China - even as a tourist. Some of those booted were about to graduated from major Chinese universities and just lost their diplomas. They were only moonlighting as English tutors. Ouch!
