Following on from the Herbalife and Vemma cases, the FTC blog (https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/blogs/business-blog/2017/01/redress-checks-compliance-checks-lessons-ftcs-herbalife) stresses the need for genuine retail sales to be the primary focus in Multi Level Marketing

The FTC started mailing out checks to 350,000 Herbalife victims as a part of the settlement. Average payment was about $571. Herbalife is a scam that should have been shut down completely.
