Some Advice Please

I am considering going to do some charity fundraising at an American football match at Wembley stadium tomorrow and I wondered how British football fans behave at American football matches. Teams playing Sunday November 1st

I am ashamed to say that our football matches can be very rough. I get worried by the thought of falling on broken glass when the drinks are flowing fast and give the Wembley matches a miss..

The majority of rugby supporters were very pleasant at Twickenham and Wembley. I did not expect to raise much this year when there were no Norhern hemisphere countries in the finals and semi finals but the generosity was overwhelming. Wallabies, Kiwis and Springboks kept on giving and giving. As I can not speak Spanish and my French is very limited I did not get as much from Argentinian supporters.

Is Ameican football a growth market in UK? If so I will try to find out and inform Steve Lawson how to go about marketing to Aamerican football fans in the UK.

I don't know for a fact, but it should be promising. It's a great sport to watch once you get to know it.

from what I understand listening to sports talk radio, the NFL seems to think there is a market there. But as everyone else points out, the logistics are a nightmare and doesn't make sense.

Thank you for that help "whip." It was extremely helpful. I got the idea when I read an article in London's "Evening Standard" which said that "London Seals Its Place as £1.5BN World Capital of Sport". It pointed out that three NFL games have already generated £42.5M. If the sport continues to increase in popularity, the market could be enormous. I could not believe how much I raised for a British Meningitis charity from Aussies, Kiwis and Springboks. Why should they donate to British hospitals and prosthetic limbs for British children?

If NFL becomes more popular, it would be a marvelous opportunity for a business people to launch new products or to get a foot in the door at the ground floor. Anybody with a knitting machine who had enough money to make 1000 scarves could test the market in a fairly big way. Small business people could test sewing and knitting shops to see if they could sell knitting pattern for some of the teams in the Wembly area. Very good point "ET". Rugby was an up market public school market until it got wide TV coverage. The Twickenham crowds were from all walks of life and the number of women who attend has increased dramatically. Those who can not afford tickets watch in pubs, clubs and resturants but they are allo the same fans and spend like the very well heeled.

lf there is a marketer with good contacts in sports journalism he or she shoud be on to a winner. Local papers, tv and radio stations in Wembly would be a starting point. It may be worth contacting the Evening Standard.

Sure is here in Australia especially with Jarryd Hayne and the SF 49'rs.....There was talk of bringing the team here for an exhibition game next year....
Hope another teams signs him now that he has been dumped by SF 49'rs.....
