View Full Version : Online Black Market
Got this nonsense in my spam today. Not only does it seem to be a fake Youtube video, but check out the comments. They all have that suspicious black box to the left of names.
What's really disturbing is the "journalist undercover" angle. Not sure if they stole this from an actual journalist's piece or not and tweaked it, but worth a look.

Here's the vid straight-up right here. Just saw this on the ClickSure launch Blog - the place to go for anticipating your spam.

the first problem going to that video is onlineblackmarket.co wants to set a cookie. I assume that's the suspect here?

Looks like it's an affiliate link, so setting a cookie is standard. If it's a UK site it's supposed to provide notice.
so the 'investigation' is fake?
Yeah, sorry. I just posted link from my spam email so no doubt it's an affiliate link. Just wanted you all to see the entire site with all the fake comments and whatnot, but I think the video that JustTooMuchTime posted is enough.
*sigh* such a troublemaker.

These scammers definitely put some real thought into this. Image the havoc they'd create if they redesigned the MAPS website.

it would almost seem not as much the ponzi that it is?
Thinking of making that a new tag line.
I just assumed you did already
I think I'm going to just sprinkle it in every now and again.

This is my favorite part of the Online Black Market scam video:

Just like on Dragnet...oh wait...NOT like that...

Thank you, TooMuchTime.
I remember my dad insisting on watching Dragnet when I was little, and he would laugh hysterically the whole time. I never got the humor until years later.

Well, the fake investigation video is hosted on YouTube and embedded into the OnlineBlackMarket site, but they definitely wanted to make people think they were ON YouTube.
They added a few "nice" scammer-details:

1. Search terms prepopulated.
2. Fake related videos.
3. Subscribe button, view counts, etc.
4. License - well "Standard License" means it can be remixed and used in other vids...hmmmm...just wish I had the time right now.
5. Upload button. Somebody should to contact the owners over at Online Black Market and let them know the upload button isn't working.
6. Fake comments section.
LOL! section - self-explanatory.

This is also hilarious...they named one of the CSS Classes after one of the fake comment names:
