Do you know of a good blog that touches on our general areas of interest? Post a link and a brief description. If we share your enthusiasm we'll move the link into this post. Self promotional, commercial advertisement or affiliate sales blogs will not be granted that honor, in fact their links will be deleted.

* Patrick Pretty's Ponzi scheme and Internet Crime blog. (http://patrickpretty.com/) Patrick is one of the most professional bloggers I know of, solid research and excellent reporting make him one of my daily reads.

* Eric Goldman's Technology and Marketing Law Blog (http://blog.ericgoldman.org/). Mr. Goldman is an Associate Professor at the Santa Clara University School of Law. His blog focuses on how the law is adapting to changing technology and areas of marketing and intellectual property. His primary audience seem to be other legal professionals and his writing style reflects that, I sometimes find myself re-reading passages to make sure I understand them. But he's an excellent resource for those interested in how the law is changing to meet the challenges of the internet.

* Counterknowledge.com (http://counterknowledge.com/). "Exposing conspiracy theories, cults, quack medicine, bogus science and fake history." General skepticism and uncommon common sense, highly readable.

*False Profits Blog (http://www.falseprofits.com/FalseProfitsBlog.html): Economics, Politics, Legalities, Ethics, and Sociology of Pyramid Schemes
Robert L. FitzPatrick [Submitted by Emet]

*The Fraud Files Blog (http://www.sequence-inc.com/fraudfiles/): Tracy Coenen"s Daily commentary on fraud, scandals, scams, and court cases.[Submitted by Emet]

[I'm not sure if I ever had a plan on how to select which blogs got listed up top and which don't, but I'm open to feedback. Take a look at the blogs your fellow members posts and feel free to "second" the nominations of the ones you like.]

I agree with this but I am tempted to say that a TitBits version of PatrickPretty would sell in the UK and possibly overseas. When British people ask me why I put my blog and web sites on ice for four years rather than closing them down, I tell them I want to write Tit-Bits style articles for serious journalists like Patrick.

Brits with Edwardian or Victorian parents/grandparents can ask them if they remember Tit-Bits (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tit-Bits). Wikepedia states that the magazine concentrated on drama and sensationalism. It did but that also included real news. It was nothing like the lewd and crude news reported in gossip magazines today. Good writers were happy to have their work reviewed by Tit-Bits. The magazine sold their stories to a new audience.

It was not a children’s magazine but children learned things which their parents found very difficult to put into words. I can remember being given the same stupid answer when I asked my parents questions such as 1) What is the iron curtain? 2) Who built The Berlin Wall? 3) What do starving people from Belsen look like? or 4) How do you make hydrogen bombs? Tit-Bits did not answer these questions but it covered serious news and brought awareness to a new generation of thinking people.

I have often wondered what I would say to my own parents if we were to meet in an alternative universe and they asked me to give them quick replies to subjects like 1) Who on earth would listen to anybody with a ridiculous name like SoapBoxMum. Who is she when she is at home? 2) Is Eagle Research anything to do with American comics that glorify outlaws like Billy The Kid? 3) Where is Scamlanpro’s Mountain of Love? 4) How can I calculate numbers on a screen? or 5) Why was Andy Bowdoin sent to jail. Did he buy shares with monopoly money?

I do not expect Patrick to invite me to write Tit-Bits style articles for him but a beginners guide to some of the subjects covered by his blog could help some of us pick up threads on a genre of scams which we have never followed

Can I nominate my own blog "A MLM Skeptic"? A MLM Skeptic (http://amlmskeptic.blogspot.com/)

My blog is about MLM and skepticism, with sidetracks into bad argument tactics (how to spot them being used by scammers), logical fallacies (esp. how they are used by scammers), with a little bit of law, MLM basics, and scams.

I am extremely glad that this concept is being explored in more depth by RS Lynne. The idea of introducing local householders and small businesses in my local community to colleagues online, whom I consider trustworthy, has been my goal for very nearly ten years. I thought that it was going to be a doddle as I have lived in the area since 1970 and I know the market very well. I bought my first ( now antique) computer, a Compcolour II in 1979. I learned that the concept of sales and marketing which is understood by local businesses, is a very different concept to "internet marketing." It would be great to introduce locals to those who do not consider the reproduction of mass produced sales spiel to be marketing. A list of trustworthy bloggers on RS would be great.

I write "tit-bits" style web pages and my reputation online ( as a silly old biddy) does not worry me in the least. I have contacts who know that I know a lot about the fields in which I have worked. I can write text which looks like scandal and a lot of it is but I have researched the material very carefully before trying to emulate gossip journalists. Examles of my Tit bits of information can be seen in my RS signature files. Even silly old biddies could help serious, younger researchers now and then.

Kasey wrote a brilliant article about TVI Express but he may not know that one of the earliest and largest promoters was Time Information Management (http://trueincomeonline.com/forum/). I have put up a web page about my experiences in various forums so that people can abstract any information which he or she deems sitable for a blog. Cookie Keener and he mate "jackpop" set the thing up and the members list was a revelation. No wonder the names have all been been deleted.

I know virtually nothing about MLM other than that I did one which was started not very long after the war. They had a product (nylon stockings) which were so much in demand that women who could not affoard a pair, painted their legs to look as if they had nylons on. I do know a fair bit about autosurfs and the forums which promoted autosurfs as a good PUNT.

When I take my blog off ice, I will start introducing RS members and their web sites or blogs to traders in my local community.

I discovered a lovely little interior design shop in Richmond last week Roberts.Fleming Designs (http://www.allinlondon.co.uk/directory/1119/78245.php). it was run by two women with a great deal of flair and time to spare with their customers.

I thought how nice it would be if they could add some of "scratchy's home furnishing ideas and designs to their range. What I liked about the shop was that it was different from most of the Richmond/Twickenham type shops, not better but different artwork ideas and different materials.

I will most certainly mention it when I get my blog and a few more of my P2P pages "off ice." We have a huge Korean community which is only a a bus ride away from my home. I will do my best to inform locals about Kasey's talents and his article about those who were ripped off by that Korean pastor. Perhaps he can recommend more colleagues with linguistic skills for a Korean community. Perhaps he could write a page especially for Koerans who reside in the UK

I am thrilled that kasey speaks Chinese. I think that one of the reasons that Internet crime took off so quickly was that English speaking people thought that we had no need to learn to become fluent in other languages.

This is fantastic! So much reading to do. I feel so behind in my scammer knowledge reading all these threads. Now I can get up to speed!
It occurred to me, just now, that I am way too excited about learning about scams. Is this normal?
