On Jun 14th, Most popular russian payment processor Webmoney was declared as operating illegaly in Ukraine by National Bank of Ukraine.
Bank accounts on territory of ukraine were frozen.
Webmoney first announced that they will not do any transactions in connection with accounts freeze.

On Jun 17, Webmoney announced that they restarting operations to fullfill client's demands.

Criminal Investigation was started in Ukraine in connection to Money Laundering and Tax evasion.

Looks Like Ukraine is finally waking up.

Ukraine's Regional Office of Webmoney was raided by tax authorities and swat.

Webmoney total user base is around 3 million users.


Director of Investigations of Ukraine's Financial crimes division says victims (if they are) should file lawsuits in courts :) :

This is one of the best options to deposit/withdrawal funds from russian brokers!

Most russian sites accept it and has very low fees so its a good choice! :RpS_wink:

And here we are, 4 years later, Ukraine is in full-blown "USA democratisation process" and Webmoney is alive and well, and used by, among others, many Chinese retail sites, including Aliexpress, so I believe it beat PayPal as well. :)

If my memory doesn't fail me it's not the first time they are in trouble. Guess they'd better leave Ukraine and save their name
