View Full Version : Online Home Careers Scam

This was originally published over at WorkAtHomeTruth, but it's been stolen so many times, I figured I might as well "steal" my own content and put it over here.

It's being promoted pretty heavily right now.

This is the Online-Home-Careers.com landing page:
https://online-home-careers.com/c/index.php?offer_id=11

Here's the original write-up/warning:

The Ryan Stephens Online Home Careers scam is a typical lead product for boiler rooms operating out of Florida. I’ve seen hundreds of them from both Florida & Utah – states that have taken boiler room scams to a new level of pyschopathy – taking thousands of dollars from any vulnerable group of people they can find – including the elderly, disabled, or people who’ve recently lost their job.

As usually, I’ve documented this whole scam in multiple ways, including video recordings.

Lets Start With Their Useless Refund Policy

Online Home Careers claims to have a 365 day refund policy. Well – that’s true if they don’t decide to change it and NOT tell you (by the way)…

Here’s what it says (you’ll only find it at the bottom of the order page):

“We reserve the right to modify this Refund Policy at our discretion, or against any customer it believes is abusing this policy. Any such revision or change will be binding and effective immediately following the posting of the revised Refund Policy on the website.

You agree to periodically review our websites, including the current version of our Refund Policy. Our refund policy is made available on our websites. It is your obligation to review our refund policy for any such revisions.”

Uh, no thanks. I think I’ll pass.

Fake “Guaranteed Security” Site

3/15/2013 Update. The pop-up site for the security seal I debunked back in 2012 is no longer working at this time. BUT they are still using those logos on those pages – and they NOW click through to a dead site. I have a video of it, but you can see that by taking look at the following screenshot which shows that the IP for guaranteed-security.com is not resolvable:

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/guaranteed-security-com-not-resolvable_zps21e602ee.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/guaranteed-security-com-not-resolvable_zps21e602ee.png.html)

Here’s what was happening back in 2012:

If you click on the order page of the Online Home Careers site, you’re greeted with a popup that looks like this:

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/guaranteed-security-popup_zpsd16d83cf.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/guaranteed-security-popup_zpsd16d83cf.png.html)

Which had the following text underneath:

“Websites displaying these seals on their site are a reflection of trustworthiness. Guaranteed Security is a third-party assessment company that substantiates Website Legitamacy, Website Security, and most of all Consumer Safety.

The Guaranteed Security seal only appears when the site has passed our intensive verification process.”

Uh. Since they own the site the popup is on, that’s kind of like a scammer saying, “I promise I won’t scam you. Really. I checked myself out.”

If you want me to show you how I know the whole security seal operation is a sham, let me know in the comments section and I’ll show you.

Here’s What Will Happen Next

I can tell you exactly what’s going to happen in the comment section of this post – it happens almost every time:

You’ll probably see some idiot shill from the Online Home Careers boiler room come here and try to do one of the following:
Pretend like they’re a customer who loves the system.
Ask how can I know it’s a scam if I haven’t “tried their product” (Answer: I get tons of emails and comments from people who have been ripped off by products like this.
Then I’ll continue with more proof until the readers finally catch on to their shill game.
They’ll leave and never come back.

If they do come back, don’t worry. I have plenty of backup ammunition (research and documentation) to shut them up.

As usual, they are using the "

Quick-Start Coaching Assessment with a "Start Up Specialist" ploy (which is almos always done to get people to talk to sales people who will try to get as much money as possible out of them for useless "coaching").

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-home-careers-start-up-specialist_zpsf83e40b2.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-home-careers-start-up-specialist_zpsf83e40b2.png.html)

And for good measure, a bunch of income-specific testimonials (here are a couple from the order page). I removed the faces, because who knows where they actually got those photos from.

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-Home-Careers-Income-Testimonials_zps5de91290.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-Home-Careers-Income-Testimonials_zps5de91290.png.html)

Which would appear to fly in the face of the FTC's no safe harbor guidelines mentioned here (http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2009/10/endortest.shtm).

This poor guy named Ryan Stephenson apparently started getting traffic because of this scam:

An instant $120 off the normal price and all I did was go to the website and then click on the "back" button.

WOOHOO, I'm one of only a "select few"

How special is that ??

I may just do it a few more times and see if I can get it entirely free.

I took a video starting from that offer all the way through to the order page.

ClickBooth popped up in connection with this as well:

Interesting that TinEye isn't identifying a source. I've never seen that before with them. Wonder if they have some newer agreements with stock photos sites about that.

Looks like Online Home Careers is using Adwords to divert people away from all of the complaints and negative feedback:

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/workathomereviews_zpsb8d3d3e8.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/workathomereviews_zpsb8d3d3e8.png.html)

The following shows that Online Home Careers is registered to Zulu Marketing and the site that shows up for the "Online Home Careers" search on Google Adwords is Work-From-Home-Reviews.org which is one of a handful of sites on the same IP as zulumarketing.com. The main sites of interest on that IP are as follows:

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-Home-Careers-Related-Sites_zps16d2d393.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-Home-Careers-Related-Sites_zps16d2d393.png.html)

guaranteed-secure.com is the fake security seal mentioned at the beginning of this discussion.

Not suprisingly, Work-At-Home-Reviews.org recommends Online-Home-Careers.com

ScamsExposer.com loves Online Home Careers - probably because the company behind ScamsExposer.com is the same company behind Online-Home-Careers.com:

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/ScamsExposer-com_zpsf4ef2f9b.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/ScamsExposer-com_zpsf4ef2f9b.png.html)

Zulu Marketing, owner of ScamsExposer.com an Online-Home-Careers would "like to give a poor review, because that’s what we typically do, but Online Home Careers runs a clean operation. High fives to the Online Home Careers team."

Clean as a dirty whistle!

Online-Home-Careers-Scam.com (registered to the same company that registered Online-Home-Careers.com) has decided that Online Home Careers is NOT a scam. No way!

http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg536/Paul_Schlegel/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-Home-Careers-Scam-On-Online-Home-Careers_zps647f2a37.png (http://s1242.photobucket.com/user/Paul_Schlegel/media/Coaching%20Program%20Lead%20Gen%20Sites/Online%20Home%20Careers/Online-Home-Careers-Scam-On-Online-Home-Careers_zps647f2a37.png.html)

For clarification, here's what Online-Home-Careers.com HATES about using the word scam:

"I dislike the word scam. I think it’s overused. Regret is probably more proper. Some people buy the program and regret their purchase because they don’t want to do it. Luckily there is a 30-day refund policy. From what I can observe, it is most often because people that purchase the program, expect money without lifting a finger. However, the student needs to lift a finger. They need to click a mouse."

Well, in case you're still wondering if Online Home Careers is a scam or a legitimate home business, the good folks at Online Home Careers have done all of the heavy lifting for you. They have purchased their own course, reviewed their own course and have THIS to say about it:

"I bought the Online Home Careers and, here it goes… you ready for it? I really like the program. There are a lot of people trying to say some bad things about Online Home Careers, but I don’t think any of them have actually bought the program. Well I did, so I could go through it and check it out."

Like all good scammers, Eddie Stewart, the driving force Online Home Careers and the numerous anti-scam sites and fake review sites that love Online Home Careers, LOVES Ayn Rand. Says, Eddie in his post about Fountain Head and Atlas Shrugged:

"Atlas Shrugged describes what happens when society gets to that point. Those that created opportunity through work and industry and who paid for those entitlements eventually stop providing. They leave.

I hope that doesn't happen."

Eddie, if this is the kind of "work" and "industry" you're talking about, I'm pretty sure MOST people would hope they DO leave, or at least stop engaging in "Industry".

As one SaltyDroid once said (http://saltydroid.info/mark-shurtleff-attorney-general-of-mlm/):

"Live hypocrisy until you’re dead inside” :: is Utah’s State Motto.

Maybe …

Not really :: I lied … goddamnit Droid stop lying! I don’t even deserve to be your fifteen thousand dollar mentor.

Actually :: their motto is :: “Industry” … which is perfect as long as you remember to include the air quotes."

I think you're thinking of Matt Gagnon of Mazu.com:
http://www.sec.gov/litigation/admin/2012/34-66907.pdf

One of his products I bought EARLY on about marketing was decent enough, but a few years later he started promoting all kinds of REALLY, REALLY scammy stuff.

Did he actually go to jail? I didn't really follow that case very much.

It's the little things that make the difference.

Online Home Careers doesn't piddle around with coy little expressions like "As Advertised On" MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, USAToday, abc, etc. like the more timid Leading Home Profit Network.

Online Home Careers is balls to the walls scamming by claiming to have been SEEN ON MSNBC, CNN, Fox News, USAToday, abc, etc.
