About a decade ago a bunch of the little convenience stores in my area started selling these little bottles of ginseng extract. They were a buck a piece and did seem like a reasonable little "pick me up" without the jittery feeling that caffeine sometimes give. They had a strong and not entirely pleasant taste so I didn't even notice the alcohol until a friend of mine who's an active AA'er pointed it out to me. They were imported from China and of the very few words on the box or on the bottles that were in english, none of them was "alcohol" but I remember standing in the checkout line seeing teen aged kids buying half a dozen bottles at a time. "The kids really love this stuff" the clerk told me, gee I wonder why? I haven't seen them in stores for quite some time but I sometimes wonder how bad you'd have to want a buzz to drink enough of that stuff to catch one.

When you're young and a naive alcohol drinker, not that much. I remember about four decades ago (yikes) when Nyquil came on the market. I believe it had between 12 and 25% alcohol. IMO, it tasted terrible--but I also remember kids drinking it for 'the buzz'.

My wife's youngest sister brought some loser to our house one holiday..

He drank the whole bottle of NyQuil. It was the costco size not the puny travel size.. I was like wow.. He said he was sick.. he didn't look sick.. So I googled it.. wow.. isn't that amazing.. People are drinking NyQuil's to get drunk.. Only thing was is I have a full bar in my game room, fully stocked... Right next to teh room he slept in, So he must of liked nyquil better..
