I should have known this would turn raunchy. The ceiling material literally started sprinkling down on our laptops. (How's that for nerdiness?) And the "alert position" is everyone stands up, arms out to the sides (as if that helps anything at all).
I tell you emphatically that this is the END of those evil doers, we must Apprehend and prosecute them accordingly.

you have no idea the amount of restraint I have used from the very first glance at just the title of the thread.

I'm sure, Whip. May I add onto the story?

During said deposition in an old brick building in Pasadena, after initial quake shock, mind you, we had the actual plaintiff's husband in the room, who was brain dead. He was parked, on a stretcher, underneath window. One of the plaintiff's attorney's said, "Uh, we better move Mark away from the window." We did....then one of the defense attorneys whispered in my ear, "You realize we're fucked, right? How are we gonna get down 5 stories with this guy?" I declined to answer.

It's funny now, but at the time, not so much.

It wasn't in a courtroom, ya nut. It was in a law office in an old brick building. And yes, it was weird that they brought the poor guy on a stretcher!

Geez, I'd be no good in an earthquake zone.

If someone told me to assume the "alert position" I'd be out in the middle of the street laying face down
